Shopping keywords for anime, etc. goods

This is a supplement to my previous posts about buying stuff from Japan. Even for stores that offer English versions of their sites (Amazon Japan, Mandarake), using titles and keywords in kanji/hiragana/katakana will usually get you the best search results. Fortunately, getting the title for a specific Japanese series isn’t hard as long as Wikipedia has a page on it, but figuring out the keywords to narrow your search for specific goods can be more difficult. Below are some of the most common merchandise terms, along with some others that may be of use for the overseas otaku.

アクリルスタンド=acrylic stand (a character/image cut out of acrylic that stands on a base)

バッジ=badge (usually a pin back)

ブロマイド=“bromide (a photo or print, usually of an actor or character)”

カレンダー=calendar

ケース=case (phonecase, etc.)

クリアファイル=clearfile

コースター=coaster

コラボカフェ=collaboration cafe (a tie-in cafe that usually includes limited edition goods)

コスプレ=cosplay

フィギュア=figure

イラストカード=illustration card (a bonus given with manga or other goods)

色紙=shikishi (a thick paper board used for illustrations)

キーホルダー=keyholder/keychain

リトグラフ=lithograph

ノート=“note (notebook)”

ぬいぐるみ=nuigurumi (stuffed toy)

パンフレット=pamphlet/programme for a show, movie, or performance

ピン=pin

ピンバッジ=pin badge

トランプ=playing cards/“trump”

ポストカード=postcard

ポスター=poster

シール=“seal (sticker)”

下敷き=shitajiki

スマホクリーナ=smartphone cleaner (a small piece of special cloth)

ステッカー=sticker

ストラップ=strap (usually a charm on a cord used to decorate phones, etc)

タペストリー=tapestry/wall scroll

テレカ=“teleka (telephone card)”

手ぬぐい=tenugui (Japanese handtowel)

特典=tokuten (a bonus included with an item)

ウィッグ=wig

There's a place just down the street where they chop off angel's wings and fry them in oil. You should try some. Oh, the angels? Yeah they're regular people now. Hello! I decided to do a research presentation on the "cannibalism" tag and it's relations to the MCYT communities on AO3! I looked into time frames, overall fandom data, individual character data and made a hopefully coherent conclusion on the information I gathered. I will be posting a link to my very messy excel file where I stored the base information via reblog, so check the notes.

I used canva for the statistics graphs and indesign to put this together... And a big big thank you and a shout out to my very good friend @theslyvoid9 who made 99% of the drawings used in this presentation and who also helped me look up data!!!

I'm sorry if it's complicated to answer, but I never understood very well what happened to the bunny that John had. how was it created? who gave it to who? etc, etc. would you mind explaining or sending a link of the explanation?

Okay this is a long story.

PRE - SCRATCH

The bunny came from the movie Con Air, Dave got it for John on his birthday. John, in a Con Air reenactment gives the bunny to baby Rose in the ectobiology lab and she is sent with it on the meteor.

Rose eventually repairs the bunny with wool and was going to give it to John for his birthday but John found it in her room and took it.

He would later give it to baby Jade in yet another Con Air reenactment and she was sent with it on her meteor.

Jade with her penpal Jake upgraded the bunny with mechanical parts and weapons and gave it to John for his birthday and he named it Liv Tyler.

Liv Tyler would eventually stop the Tumor from being stolen and bring it to Dave and Rose. He was with them when it exploded and he died, rip in peace.

POST - SCRATCH

The bunny Rose was sent with was given to Roxy who put it in a wizard costume and gave it to Jane for her 13th birthday

The bunny Jade was sent with was given to Jake who put it in an Indian Jones costume and gave it to Jane for her 13th birthday.

Technically those were all the same bunny.

Now the bunny from the post-scratch version of Con Air was in Dirk’s Bros museum. Dirk stole it and built Lil’ Seb around it and gave him to Jane. Lil’ Seb eventually got knocked into ocean on Earth where he stayed until he was found by Gamzee and given to Caliborn.

Classes Chart

Here’s a chart of all the classes, both Standard and Master.

My goal was to define, describe, and categorize them as efficiently and accurately as possible, based on my understanding of the classes. I based as much as I could on canon information, while inferring the rest.

(For clarity, “–” denotes Active, and “+” denotes Passive.)

Special thanks to bladekindeyewear, dahniwitchoflight, infinitywhale and probably others for their insight and information, helping me understand the classes and aspects. I couldn’t have made this chart without them.

Some clarification: I am aware Hussie essentially said any gender can have any class (i.e. female Princes). I don’t like the idea of gendered classes, anyway, and I think it’s needlessly restrictive, not to mention sexist and stereotyping.

However, my chart reflects what’s been depicted in comic, based on what Calliope states, looking at the characters’ classes and gender distribution, and then making some inferences based on Hussie’s penchant for balance and based on class names and god tier outfit designs.

Fun fact about meth and urine. I forget the exact percentage, but quite a bit of meth os passed through the body and expelled via urine. So if you drink meth piss you’ll get high yourself.
