STONED FACED. NO EMOTION. It was just how Wednesday liked the world to see her, but the night she almost died left a lot of unanswered questions running through her vast mind. Even the pain that pulsated throughout her tiny body, after having a resurrected pilgrim garnish a long overdue debt meant for Goody Addams, didn’t bring the normal pleasure that torture usually did. It just left her with the notion of what if. What if she never saw her family again? What if she was left forgotten for the rats and mice to feed on? What if she never saw Enid again? Questions she had tried to push from her mind, until fate played a significant hand in her rescue, allowing her to see Enid again, which meant seeing her family again, including her mother, whom, though she did not want to outright admit, she had needed deeply.
Laying eyes on the people whom she both despised and loved the most in this dreadful world, Wednesday gathered her backpack from the seat next to her while she waited for Lurch to open the car door, “ Well, Thing, it looks as though nothing has changed. ” As her eyes scanned the area, she caught sight of Morticia and the reflection of light catching off the glint of tears trying to force their way out of her mother’s eyes, “ except for that... ” Her voice trailed off, and her eyes shifted slightly to show the smallest hint of emotion, until Lurch opened the car door to let her out.
Gritting her teeth, the young woman forced back any reaction that might have been present on her face, before climbing out. Same solemn expression that she was known for, once again apparent, Wednesday put on her backpack, dropped her arms, and balled her tiny fists, “ Mother. Father. Pugsley. ” After the brief acknowledgment of her family, the sixteen year old made her way into the massive, decrepit looking house and headed straight for her room, because while her face said nothing, her mind was screaming everything.
