Portrayal Mixed canon. I draw on a range of different Addams Family canon to write Morticia, including but not limited to, the movies, TV shows, Musical, novelisations, animated adaptations and original cartoons as they appear in the New Yorker. I do not consider Addams Family Reunion Canon. It is important to note, I have written Tish on an off for years now. As such, my portrayal has developed past canon. Verses My default verse is the 91/93 adaptation. If your character is not from any other adaption listed or does not have a verse that I can find for another adaptation then this will be my go to, unless you specify otherwise.

Shipping There is no one else in Morticia's life except for Gomez and even that I will be approaching hesitantly. They are a very iconic couple. Hi, I know there's a lot going on in the world right now, but I'm asking you to please spare a thought for refugees who are living in Australia for just a moment. Currently there are over 10,000 refugees living in Australia who are at risk of deportation at any minute. Yesterday a 37-year-old man was deported from Villawood back to his home country of Sri Lanka, where the government is still actively committing a genocide against his people. RefugeeWAVE is an offshoot of Tamil Refugee Council Australia ( TRC ) that exists to support, care and advocate for those who are trapped in limbo, unable to return to their homes whilst being denied citizenship or even asylum seeker status. RefugeeWAVE are running a fund-raiser at the moment so that they can continue to provide support. The money will be used for things such as fortnightly community gatherings to build connection and solidarity among refugee women and Assistance with asylum applications to help individuals navigate a complex and often overwhelming system. Please note, they are almost completely run by and for refugees and one of the only organisations of their size in Australia that are.

random thoughts re: THE HOUSE ( 91/93 adaptation )

the paintings in the first movie are all recreations of existing works( eg: a homage to Whistler's Symphony in White, No.1 is visible in the scene where Tully enters the house in the beginning of the movie ) that is a very funny gag. But while I do think the Addamses aren't above paying an obscene amount of of money to an artist to do something like that, they would value originality in their home too much to actually go through with it. So for the purposes of this portrayal I'm going to say that the works hanging in the house ARE the original art, the artists then went on to recreate the work for a more commercial audience. No, the Addamses do not mind at all, in fact it's become expected.

The layout of the house changes drastically between movies. The most obvious example is that the Bifurcated staircase we see in the 91 adaptation becomes a split one in the 93 version. The new layout definitely resembles the og house that Charles Addams created and while I love the vision, I also adore the way the house is set out into he first movie, it has that 90's vibe that the nostalgic in me can't look past. So I'm going to merge the two and say, the house had to be redesigned after the events of the first movie ie: the hurricane

All morning, the thought had occupied a small corner of her mind, like the delicate silk of a spider's web on the side of a windowpane, growing and growing the more the spider weaved until at least, it filled the glass from top to bottom, and she could ignore it no longer. Her first instinct had been to seek out Mama and have her consult the books for advice...and what she had found there only confirmed the growing fear. Something was wrong.

The Addams matriarch was as ever, only half present in the moment. The rest of her, somewhere else entirely. It seemed everyone else was too, as the days went by and the house sat empty like a mausoleum, devoid of the children's presence. Could see on his face, how much he missed them. Her husband had always worn his emotions openly. A hand settled on his cheek.

Parasol tilted back a little, casting him a thoughtful glance, free hand tucked neatly under one of his. Quiet hum escaped her, her thoughts somewhere between the here and now and the days of gardens past. ❝ Of course... I'll ask Lurch to have the car ready. How about we stop at St Ambrose's? Hallowed soil is best for the ragwort and Father Gallagher was so hospitable on our last visit ... Do you remember darling? .. even said he'd see us off, if it was the last thing he ever did! ❞

A pause there. Turning her attentions back to the garden, casting her watchful eye over the rather barren, dreary looking land. Gnarled and twisted old tree branches that bore no leaves or fruit contrasted heavily with the only real foliage in the form of the many dark leaved, sinister looking shrubs. The only spot of colour, came from the dying lawn. Small shoots were pushing their way stubbornly through the soil, sporting very unaddams-like petals in shades of white and soft pink. The matriarch's eyes narrowed at the sight.
