#FBF Sundance 2008- Some of you have heard this, but for those who haven’t, here’s the backstory: In 08’ I was playing a bunch of shows at Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT and got a call that Scott Weiland missed his flight and could I fill in for him with Velvet Revolver at Harry O’s? I couldn’t believe my ears and was soon making my way backstage to rehearse in the green room with Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum. Can someone pinch me please?!? Showtime approached and I looked over to see Little John chatting with Paris Hilton. It was crazy. How did I get here? As I stood onstage, the buzz in the air was electric. Big huge thank you to my friend & mentor @wallyingram for laying down some sick drum and percussion tracks for me last week. He’s a true master at his craft & I can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on. Additional thx to @greenbaum.sidney for engineering the session. First 2 photos are Wally at our session, followed by the 3 of us recording at the Haus of Love in Laguna Niguel, CA in the fall of 2004. Time flies!

Great day with the pooch cruising around Newport. Ended up on the windy beach & now we’re having tea in the sunshine & reading Le Carré. Excited & blessed to be here for a little while. Made a cozy meditation spot at the house & slowly getting the makeshift recording studio set up (photos to come). Took in the beautiful sights of Delhi & bought a harmonium today! Can’t say enough about the kind folks at @rikhiramoriginals music shop (Est 1920). Family owned, & India’s oldest manufacturer of Indian classical instruments. Known for having hosted The Beatles in 1966, they have built instruments for George Harrison, Pt. Ravi Shankar, & Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, to name a few. During The Beatles visit in 66’, George Harrison received his first sitar lesson from owner, Pt. Bishan Dass. The shop is now run by the son, Ajay, and grandson, Akhil, who were kind enough to give me some pointers & demonstrate the intricate art of tuning a harmonium :) So glad I made this stop today, and plan to return again soon! 🙏🏼

Just arrived in Delhi, India and getting ready to launch myself into the next decade. The past ten years have seen much growth and I’m hoping to continue the trend. Wishing all of you the happiest of New Years and all the blessings that await. Let’s do this!

Made some new friends at Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, MX last week. Also took a great storytelling class and sang some fun songs with 2x Moth GrandSLAM storytelling champion, Micaela Blei (pictured left). Much thanks to my new friends and to Rancho La Puerta for providing such an amazing experience!

Four years ago I was in Urubamba, Peru for a San Pedro ceremony and ended up playing the most magical, classical guitar. The guitar spoke to my heart in a way that I can’t quite explain. I tried to buy the instrument but the owner was not interested in selling it. Ever since, I’ve been searching for the guitar maker, in hopes of owning one of his amazing creations. Today, my friends helped me track him down in the little town of Calca, Peru. Although he didn’t have a completed guitar ready for me today, I told him I would return next year. Please say hello to Gregorio Apasa, master guitar builder.
