over the years, i have been taught what certain cravings mean and how i can replace them in a healthy way. so i figured, why not share it with you guys?Ā
if you crave chocolateā¦
your body needs magnesium. a quick fix for this is raw nuts and seeds, legumes, or fresh fruits.Ā
if you crave sweetsā¦
your body might need some of the following:Ā
-chromium - have some broccoli, grapes, cheese, or chicken.Ā
-carbon - chow down on some fresh fruit.Ā
-phosphorus - chicken, eggs, legumes, or grains can help.Ā
-tryptophan - similar to magnesium, have some raw nuts and seeds, legumes, or fresh fruits.Ā
if you crave bread or toastā¦Ā
your body needs nitrogen. have some high protein foods such as fish, meat, nuts, or beans.Ā
if you crave fatty foodsā¦Ā
your body needs calcium. broccoli, kale, legumes, or cheese help.Ā

I stopped going to therapy because I knew my therapist was right and I wanted to keep being wrong. I wanted to keep my bad habits like charms on a bracelet. I did not want to be brave. I think I like my brain best in a bar fight with my heart. I think I like myself a little broken. Iām ok if that makes me less loved. I like poetry better than therapy anyway. The poems never judge me for healing wrong.

I think the thing about missing someone is that itās not constant. Ā You can go without thinking about them for days, weeks, months, years. Then all it takes is a familiar smell, or picking up one of their shirts from a clean basket of laundry, or reading just the right sentence in a book you only recently started. Missing someone can hit you so suddenly that youāre left reeling and disoriented, as if youāve been abandoned, except when you look around, youāre in a place youāve been many times before. It can hurt, right in the center of your stomach like youāve swallowed your weight in regret. Or it can be as small as a buzz right by your ear that you take only a second to acknowledge before you swat it away. Ā What I know is that missing someone is humbling; it causes you to admit that you are not a solitary force in this world. When I say, āI miss you,ā Iām saying that Iāve discovered a moment in my life where your absence was evident. Iām admitting that I canāt do certain things without thinking about you, and who you are, and the memories we have. And while Iām made to believe I should apologize for thatā¦I wonāt. I miss you. Itās that simple.
