Vice On the App Store
Vice Handheld Design
Plays with more Negative Space, and uses its content to provide colour to the app. Fonts used are still bold and are consistent through-out the brand itself. The Grid is formed out of squares rather then rectangles as the desktop design is formed out of rectangles.
The Design within the Sources within the subject appear to be consistent throughout, unlike the desktop design where the design changes according to the source as well as the fact that there is less information on the hand held device which provides the idea of approaching your desktop for further information and providing only a glimpse of what there is to read/see.
Note: I say all this off screen shots I took off the app store, unfortunately I could not download the app to further inspect it and what I write about is only based off these 4 images provided below.

Vice a Digital Editorial Website
Vice Introduction:
Vice is one of those providers that usually answers the questions that we might think of but have never bothered figuring out for ourselves. At least that’s how I look at it. Some Content that is provided can be opinionated but providing one’s output on life can also be good to reflect on but in saying this I always find Vice to have relevant content.
Vice provides: Articles, Photos as well as Videos about..
Events occurring around the world/world issues
Fashion Culture
Food Culture
Politics
Music
Sports
Health
Gaming
Travel
Technology
NSFW
Design Aspect:
Because vice provides different sectors within its platform as mentioned above each sector provides a slightly different approach in regards to Design.
Whether it is video, image or article the approach for each section still remains the same, the Design only changes slightly on different subject/source.
Examples of Subject in relation to source ( different sources work with in Vice)
Events occurring around the world/world issues - Vice News / Motherboard
Fashion Culture - i-D
Food Culture - Munchies
Politics - News
Music - noisy / thump
Sports - Vice Sports
Health - Broadly
Gaming - Waypoint
Travel - Vice Travel
Technology - Motherboard
NSFW - NSFW
Homepage
Vice in general is very eligible. Grids and Guides are used to help the audience to focus what is more important at hand .. The Content Provided. A very Clean & Bold approach which can be seen in the De Stijl Period. The amount of positive space is satisfying, providing the idea of rich content, provided that images used are expressive as well as Properly cropped and Placed upon the page.
Typography ‘San Serif’ as well as Bold which compliments the rest of the Page.
In regards to colour the website alone provides little to non as it provides Black in a few shades lighter & white. Colour is supplied through the visuals (Photos&Videos)
Subject page being Music
Subject Page remains consistent within design
Source Page - Example 1. Noisy
As for the design/layout of the source pages always differ ever so slighty from each other, but yet are still different. Which may, not be ethereally too bad as it gives an opportunity to experience a different visual journey.
But never the less the source even though related and part of Vice is actually a completely different website.
Source Page - Example 2. Thump
This difference can be seen between 2 different sources as provided above. Example 1 provides a bold approach Within its article, Good use of white space and a narrow column that aligns the text as so.
Example 2 provides a less bold approach within its article, uses up more of the positive space, creating a more cluttered approach compared to Example 1. Both Examples use San Serif Fonts but approach it differently, Example 1 uses Bold techniques, where as Example 2 uses Italics.

Evaluating Print Editorial
Exercise 2
FRONT COVER
Bold & Stylised Typography is used for the name of the magazine, with minor detail of overlapping in regards to imagery...smaller and different font is placed over the title to create construct that explain lightly what the magazine is about.
Bold typography is used, when mentioning somethign more important or interesting Font tends to be larger then others.
ADVERT 1
In regards to the BOB Marley advert, IMAGES tend to overtake the page rather then the text.Typography used for this particular advert is small perhaps 10/11pt. ADVERTs are usually found in between articles this is to perhaps give the reader a break from one article to the next or to even give the reader time to process some of the information he/she just read.
SHORT WRITE - UPS
Several short stories/write up are divided neatly with in the pages provided. In this case colour divides one write up to an other, with the additional light line boarder when seen fit by the editor. With in each write up hierarchy is still held well providing visual aid to the reader, every step of the way.
Pictures in this case are placed neatly with in square boarders( presuming it to be in relation to a CD or venal cover.
INDEX PAGE
In retrospective index pages are meant to be generic to all other index pages, this is for the reader to have a better and easier understanding around the magazine. ALPHABETICAL order, presented in vertical columns, read top to bottom from one column to the next.
This sound be the only page that find its self slimier or identical to all other index pages.
ARTICLES
Layouts of articles can be as creative, messy or Clean, Depending on what the writer/designer expresses or shares with the reader can also effect the whole layout of an article.
In this case I feel like that this article, the whole idea was revolved to said person featured on the right side of the magazine, With the images being black and white, the page with the intended article follows up with the a black boarder creating continuity within the whole space. As hierarchy the step flow as follows:
IMAGE, TITLE then BODY
What will become of the water when the drop of blood touches the water?
How did it all start?
How will it end
This can not be ignored!
