So in my head canon, Nicostratus in my The Undesirable Ganymede universe is a trans man 🏳️‍⚧️ adopted by Ares, formerly known as Hermione (Helen of Sparta’s daughter) she wanted to fight in the Trojan War to find her mother and kill Paris but because she was a woman, it was a law punishable by death (unless you were an Amazon) so Ares gave him a new identity.

So Achilles is almost impervious to certain attacks except for his heel which Thetis held him from ironically called the “Achilles heel” or the “Achilles tendon”

If Thetis dunked Achilles in the River Styx as a baby in this kind of manner like how this Orthodox priest dunked these babies (YouTube video above), would we renamed “Achilles’ Heel” to “Achilles’ Armpit” or “Achilles’ Sides” instead? Would this mean that if Achilles’ vulnerability has changed to a different location, all we have to do is tickle Achilles then he would have died of laughter? Right? Wrong! Because, Patroclus would’ve fought by Achilles’ side.

Phidias Chiseling the bust of Zeus(1802) - József Dorffmeister

The Greek Sculpture, Phidias, in dialogue as if in a trance with the divine inspiration guiding his chisel to sculpt out the image of Zeus. The spirit of Zeus appears from the clouds as an Apparition guide. Phidias raised hand indicates a greeting to Zeus’s presences. This scene is illuminated with much religious meaning.

József Dorffmeisiter (1764-1807), A German painter, son of painter István Dorffmeister (Stephan Dorffmeisiter) . He studied with his father and at Vienna Academy. He was originally an architecture painter with his father, but then later started to paint altarpieces and portraits. This painting was submitted for the Vienna Academy as a reception piece in 1804. However it brought him no membership.

Today was putting my boys in blue day. And figuring out design details here. Made Pelops nearly a year ago on a WHIM for a silly valentines day thing. And now. Now he is a developed/developing character. I've always worried he looks pretty basic, just a default hot guy BUT I'm getting better at that. Enjoy him like I do.

Praise Ares; God of manhood and masculinity, of conflict and rebellion, of strength and courage.

Praise Ares, God of all who cower, God of the oppressed and God of the ups and downs of life.

Praise Ares, father, son, and lover. Kind, loving Ares, blood-soaked and no less important for it.

I have been thinking recently of the various facets of Ares. He is so much more than a God who fights; he is who teaches us to set our armor aside and dance, he who teaches us that the most masculine thing one can do is not just to cause harm, but to love fiercely; to protect, to nurture. What is more masculine than love, especially to love so strongly that one would fight for it? To love a person, to love an ideal, to love a belief so dearly that it becomes your guiding star as you move through the conflicts and anger and hardships of life? I don't see much love for Ares as the God of cowards, either. God of all who flee, God of those who are scared to fight... and God of courage, of fighting while scared. Ares is not a God who has no fear; he delights in it. He dances with it. He tells us that fear is how we live, that fear and love and anger and joy and conflict and peace -- all of these are beautifully, beautifully human. It is proof we are alive.

Praise Ares.

SO a day early. But regardless, Broteas does care for Pelops. And what he is saying is to help give him a push but also.. Show a bit of his own way of thinking. I think we all know what's coming for Broteas. We know.

People make fun of Zeus and Hera’s relationship, but (at least in my interpretation) it’s supposed to represent how the patriarchy causes women to put down each other - Zeus representing the patriarchy and Hera representing the women.

In the myths, Zeus will cheat on Hera, but Hera will then kill the mistress and not punish Zeus. Think about the amount of women who put down other women because of a construct created by men (beauty standards, behavioral expectations etc.)

For a more direct example, think about the women who defends/idolizes men who’re rapists or abusers, but then shame or chose to be ignorant towards his victim(s).

As well, in the myths Zeus is said to have a cloud covering him to hide whatever scheme/wrong he’s committing, but Hera is the only one who can see through the cloud. Women (again, represented by Hera) are the ones who fully understand the effects of the patriarchy (Zeus) - no man can see the extent of the effects of misogyny, no matter how much of a feminist they are/claim to be (this is represented by the other gods)
