The easiest lie to sell is the one people already want to believe.
Jimmy tells the Kettlemans that they deserved a better lawyer.
[Jimmy]: âI have it on good authority that Craig here was not given proper counsel.â
[Betsy]: âWe already knew that.â
[Jimmy]: âBut did you ask yourselves why?â
[Craig]: âNo.â *beat* âWhy?â
[Jimmy]: âWhat if I told you that in your hour of need, the person who was supposed to be on your side was impaired?â
[Craig]: âImpaired?â
[Jimmy]: âAâŠâperson of substance.ââ
[Craig, not getting it]: âS..substanceâŠâ
[He looks at Betsy and they murmur a few words to each other, still confused. Jimmy rolls his eyes.]
[Jimmy]: âThe substance in question being a certain illegal white powder.â
[A beat, and then Betsy suddenly understands]
[Betsy]: âThat *awful woman* with the ponytail is a cocaine addict?â
[Jimmy]: âNo, not Kim Wexler! No. Craigâs *lead* attorney. Howard Hamlin.â
