I'm just really worried about her."

Maura looks up from the skates she's currently tying her feet into, her foot clunking heavily against the ground so she can ensure they're fitted properly. "Uh—" she's about to say she's not interested, but the flash of fluffy catness on the picture makes her quickly reconsider, heading out what the man had to say.

"I uh—" if anyone could be the embodiment of the pleading eyes emoji, it would be the look that took over Mauras features there and then, her fingers holding the paper between them, moving quickly to flatten out the crumpled sheet. "Last night isn't that long ago, though." she remarks, uselessly, as if that's going to put Erics mind at ease.

"Oh I don't really think it has anything to do with like, magic or supernatural stuff or anything," Summer says, frowning a little. "I just mean, how much of what happens to us do you think is totally under our control and how much of it is just chance? It's a big question," she concedes with a laugh. "Good." Maura hums back out in response, she'd had one too many conversations with crystal enthusiasts, and there was only so much she could handle before she bit and told people they were just fake marketing ploys.

Same with the diamond powder face creams, who needed those?

( ok, perhaps maura wanted those, but her salary didn't pay that well ).

"I don't know." She answers, shrug rolling off of her shoulders. A lie if ever she told one ( and she did, Maura was not shy of that. ). She'd made enough mistakes in life that she knew free-will was very much a thing, but it was nice thought that all of the mistakes she'd made had been from some higher power that she had no control over.

"Maybe it's time to consider this is one big Sims game, I often go to do something and forget what it was mid-way through. I guess that higher power just cancelled my demand."

Her voice ricochets off of the walls in the pub, despite the chatter happening all around him. It's how Ben knows she's there before he sees her, and the excitement is a happy thing. It prompts a feeling of adoration for his pseudo-niece. Who'd have thought a friendship would gift him with something else so dear?

Perhaps this is Ben's way of having a kid - adult kid, sure - despite not having ever had his own, and that's why he treasures Maura in the way that he does.

"What's this?" he asks, poking at the box. "Do you want me to open it now? Assuming it's for me." If it's not, he will definitely have to tell her how much of a tease it is. "I could eat, and you can tell me how things at this whole community garden thing are going."

"You'll see soon enough, but no, not yet." She answers back, free hand moving to pull the box backwards so it's closer to her edge of the table as her eyes still scan over the menu as if she hadn't eaten at four leaf enough times to know the menu front and back. Ninety percent of the time she'd opt for the same thing, but she'd still scan the menu as if to consider her options.

"I planted some things." She murmurs, though truth being that she'd already grown kind of tired of this latest whim activity, but that was Maura. She rarely stuck at anything for a long time, especially when it was dirty.

"What do you want to eat?" She asks, turning the menu around and pushing it towards Ben - as if he too, didn't know the menu from front to back.

Nazli could feel her face heating up in embarrassment. The way the other brunette could just easily pick her flavors like she could in her sleep and here Nazli Deleri was, being a complete idiot because she couldn't figure out the perfect pairing.

"Yeah..." She tried laughing off for a moment. Shake it off, girlypop. If she could command a classroom and tell men to bite it, she could order two scoops on a bad day, right? Right.

"One scoop strawberry shortcake and...one scoop of brownie with hot fudge, please," she finally spoke up. "Rough day," she finally sighed out.

Maura rocks on the hells of her worn out trainers as she awaits the server to finish up with her order, her head cocking to the side as she points over the counter.

"— more sprinkles, please. I want to feel the crunch."

It was obscene, and the server makes a joke asking if Maura wants some ice cream with her sprinkles, which causes her to roll her eyes yet still laugh like its the joke of the century.

"Look—" she remarks, tuning her attention back towards Nazli. "Even a poor flavour is still good ice cream, you can't really go wrong."

Ben picks a booth off to the side when he arrives simply for the fact he can’t get it out of his head that Maura is just a teenager. She isn’t, she’s a grown adult, but time is funny like that. It just feels better to be at the booth and not the bar, as if it’ll de-age him in some way.

“There she is,” he hums, eyes shining in amusement. He plays with the square coaster his beer sits on, gently spinning it around full circle. “Whatever did you call me here for? I've been dying to know.”

"BENNNNN—" she practically squeals as she catches sight of him in his booth, her whole being practically skipping across the pub to reach him, her body slipping into the seat across until she's flopped against the fabric of the seat.

She plucks a food menu from the edge of the table, as if she doesn't already know it like it's her favourite book. "are you hungry?"
