“One-hundred and eighteen…?” That was starting to get a little odd, but Honey kept the smile on her face, despite how much she wanted to fire question after question at the girl. It wasn’t that she didn’t believe in vampires;; despite being scientifically inclined, there were a great deal of magical legends which she believed in with great enthusiasm.. she had just.. not met a real one yet. Her curiosity was reaching its peak, and she finally bit her lip.
“You said you’re Dracula’s daughter, right? So.. you’re a vampire? A.. real vampire?”
The mention of a lab sparked her interest once more – not to mention the spa and art room – those founded like fun too, but most of all, the lab was something she definitely wanted to see.
“A lab? Ooh, wonderful! That means I can keep working even when I’m doing this! Good thing I brought all of my research notes with me, just in case!”
Fingers grabbed at the letter sitting in her purse at Mavis’ question, and she hummed lightly, catching sight of a colour on the paper, and she smiled.
“Green!”
“Oh, yeah that’s right! It was my birthday yesterday! So now I really am one-hundred and eighteen! Old enough to drive a hearse, and old enough to make my own choices!” Mavis stamped her foot with a proud smile.
Honey’s question drew a nod from her, her smile stretching even wider.
“Yeah! A real Vampire! Both my mom and dad were vampires, so I’m pure-blooded, I guess you can say, I mean the Dracula line goes back a long ways.”
“Oh, you know what it’s for? Neat! What DOES it do? I couldn’t make any sense of it, but it’s all so.. clean!”
Mavis smiled at her answer, and clapped her hands together enthusiastically.
“That’s great! I bet you’ll have lots of fun, huh? Ooh, maybe I could show you the way to the Green wing? Then I could take you to the lab!”
Looks like the monsters of #HotelT2 have been practicing their dance moves! Can you #WhipNaeNae?

“A castle hotel? That sounds like a lot of fun! I can only imagine!” Mavis’s excitement was contagious, and Honey found herself wondering what this place did have to offer. “Oh, really? Like what? I can’t wait to explore it myself, it’s going to be a blast!”
Wait – Dracula’s daughter? Was she being serious? Dracula was just a myth, there was no way – oh, those fangs looked.. awfully real. Still, a part of her was wondering if it were true. Just because somebody believed they were something, didn’t make it so. Teeth could be sharpened or fitted to look like fangs. she knew that much. Still, she wasn’t a bubble burster, unless she was in the lab, of course.
“Oh, you definitely seem friendly, so I’m sure you’re right!” She smiled warmly. “Oh, no, no, go right ahead! I think I prefer people calling my Honey, actually. I use that more than my real name, anyway!”
“Well... Fun is one word for it, I guess..” Mavis trailed off, thinking about the hotel, before finally, she shook her head. “Actually.. no, it was pretty boring, I spent one-hundred and eighteen years locked away in the hotel, things got a little repetitive after a while. My dad is.. well.. He’s kind of old-fashioned, and it can be a little boring, he tries, though! He just still treats me like I’m fifty sometimes.”
At the mention of this castle, she brightened. “Oh, lots of things! A music room, a spa, a medical center, a big art room, there’s even some kind of labby thing. I’m not really sure what it’s for, but it definitely looks like fun!”
Honey was so nice. Already she couldn’t wait to tell her dad just how different humans were from his stories! They didn’t want to bite her toes or steal her candy, they just wanted to talk and get to know her. That was wonderful.
“Okay, well, Honey it is! Do you know what Wing you’re in? I’m blue!”
Emily awoke with a jolt on a couch in an unfamiliar place. Now while to most this would be an alarming thought - to her it was merely a curious one. Nothing could be truly alarming when the worst had already happened to you. For what could truly frightened the dead? But there was something else…something that did cause her to take a small pause.
This place. There was a vibration to it. An energy. A life. She was topside! Elder Gutknecht’s spell must’ve worked! She had asked for his help with big pleading eyes when word upstairs drifted down far below. A competition. One to grant deepest desires. The mere idea had her still heart fluttering - though that wasn’t quite right either.
She froze as she sat up, holding her hands out in front of her quickly. The bluish tinge of a life long gone, the skeletal fingers and chunks of flesh missing from her body - it was all gone! A soft sound, like a gasp, escaped her lips as she jumped up and rushed out into the main foyer where a large ornate mirror hung. In it she confirmed her suspicions.
She was alive.
A soft laugh sounded from her and she spun around as the door opened, grabbing the newcomer without a second thought. Emily placed their hand firmly against the top of her chest.
“ Can you feel that?! ”
This place was really filling up! Mavis was having trouble deciding where to start introducing herself. She had met a few people already, of course, and that had been exciting, but there was still more to see, and more to do, and she was really starting to get tired. She’d never stayed up this late before -- it was past noon.
Maybe she should have a nap before waking up to greet more people. That might be best. Yawning, Mavis pushed open the doors to the main foyer, intending on heading into the blue corridor from there, but didn’t get the chance, as she was grabbed, her hand being pressed against the chest of a girl she hadn’t seen before. Ooh, someone new had arrived!
Mavis felt the steady thump of a heartbeat beneath her fingertips, and for a moment, it brought her pause. As she felt it, she could hear it, and she swallowed, suddenly unnerved. She supposed that was just her instincts kicking in. Vampires could naturally hear the heartbeats of other creatures, but she had been unaware of how strong the human heartbeat was in comparison to say.. mice, lizards or scorpions, which she was used to catching by this point
“I can! That’s a really nice heartbeat! I don’t have one, myself, but I don’t really mind! Do YOU not usually have a heartbeat?”
Honey jumped as a voice sounded behind her, and she turned, eyes wide with surprise – she hadn’t heard the other come behind her. Still, her excited smile and her words were enough to draw another smile out of the chemist, and she nodded, clapping her hands together once.
“Absolutely! I’ve never seen anything like it!”
Mavis’s other words finally sunk in, and her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. She had been called a human, which she obviously was, but the manner of which it had been said.. “Mavis Dracula? That’s a pretty interesting name! I’m Aiko Miyazaki, but everybody just calls me Honey Lemon! Or just Honey, it’s really a choice thing!”
“Oh really? I pretty much live in a castle like this. Well, it’s a hotel, but a castle hotel, if you catch what I mean by that! It’s as big as this place, but this place has so much more fun stuff to do! I got here last night, so I’ve had a lot of time to explore, and I LOVE it so far!”
Mavis hopped up and down on the spot, beaming. The human girl had been confused by her words, apparently, but so far there was no garlic, no pitchforks, and no threats to bite her toes or steal her candy. It was going well! She felt giddy.
“Oh, yeah, I know. I’m Dracula’s Daughter. People usually freak out about it at first. But! I promise you, I’m friendly. I’m.. homeschooled!” She flashed a bigger smile, revealing her fangs, before she clapped her hands together. “Honey Lemon? That.. is a great nickname! I hope you don’t mind if I call you Hney. I think it suits you!”
She didn’t have a great amount of reasons as to why she had signed up for this reality competition. It sounded fun, and it was an opportunity to meet new people – really, that was all the reason she had needed. After informing her friends where she was going, and telling them to ‘tune in!’ she had dropped Paracelsus off at her father’s, and had boarded the plane that was due to take her to the castle.
That being said, there was a definite skip in her step as she dragged her suitcase into the main lobby, and she turned, looking down at the key in her hand which was to apparently designate both her ‘team’ and her room. She was in the green wing, apparently.
Honey turned, her smile growing as she stared up at the ceiling, unable to keep from voicing her thoughts aloud.
“This place is beautiful.”
This was crazy, this was insane - she couldn’t believe she had done this - left the Hotel without telling her dad? Well, she’d left a note, and he HAD said she could go out there and see the world! He’d promised. Her 118th Birthday was tomorrow, and there was no harming in leaving just a little bit earlier. But knowing her father, he would have never let her go. But, after receiving a letter and finding out she had a chance to meet real humans and maybe change the fear all monsters felt towards them, it was really a no brainer.
So, she’d left a letter, and after memorizing directions, had transformed into a bat, and left. She’d personally arrived at the castle the night before anybody had gotten there, so she’d had time to familiarize herself with it all. Knowing that the humans would arrive during the day, however, she’d decided to stay up. Slipping on a pair of sunglasses and a sunhat for extra protection against the sun, she sat herself in the rafters, peering down into the lobby. When a pretty, blonde human walked in, Mavis’s eyes widened in fascination. She didn’t look dangerous at all! After a moment of hesitation, She hung from the rafters and jumped down, landing behind Honey, and straightened, flashing her an excited smile.
“It really is, isn’t it? Hi there human! My name is Mavis Dracula, and it is so nice to meet you!”
You chose her. (insp)
“Amazing,” Edward muttered. “How can someone so tiny be so annoying?” Alice laughed. “It’s a talent.”
Hotel Transylvania 2 Official Trailer [x]
“It’s common for one to curtsy to their princess, however, it is not something I require.” She was taking her role seriously, as she only knew how to play pretend in such a manner. She hadn’t seen Mavis in a while, and if the vampire didn’t mind playing pretend, she imagined they could have quite a lot of fun together on adventures. Walking towards her, Sophie plucked a flower from her shawl, and reached upwards to place it into Mavis’ hair. “I’m a princess that prefers to stay as equal to her people as possible. I’m really just in the monarchy for the crowns.”
❝Well, I think I’ll curtsey anyway! Don’t wanna disrupt the ‘status quo’❞ Mavis offered with a small grin, tucking one leg behind the offer and bobbing down in a little curtsey to the other girl. She was starting to see that Sophie was playing pretend -- she’d do that a lot when she was younger, it wasn’t a foreign experience to her.
Carefully, Mavis adjusted the flower in her hair so it stayed in place, and smiled once more, rocking back on her heels. ❝And a lovely crown it is, too, but what brings you out this far, your highness, you need to be careful you don’t cross the border to the monster world.❞
She’s bathed in spring. Flowers are pressed into braids and dangling from curls; frame her eyes in a low-sitting crown; adorn her shoulders as a loosely woven shawl. Rapunzel has made all these things for her, even gifted her the dress she’s wearing, made of flaura and fauna and all sorts of things from the earth. Sophie had been so sad; so brought down from all of the death and heartbreak. Marie, Rapunzel… Of course, she had known that Rapunzel would come back, but the fact still remained she’d had to die in the first place. She never understood that part. Why did one life have to end in order to start a new one? Couldn’t the two co-exist? She supposed not, otherwise Manny might have stepped in sooner. At least he stepped in at all. Now Rapunzel got to get to know Sophie all over again, just as she would for the third time when this was all over. If Sophie concentrated really hard, she could make herself believe that was a good thing. After all, she’d just spent the better half of the day with the new Spring Spirit catching her up on where she was and why she was here; what it meant and who were friends were. It was nice. It had distracted her and now she was back to roaming around the castle, this time with a small smile as she absently traced over all of the nature she was adorned with. She always felt connected to the elements, and Spring and Winter especially held a place in her heart. She enters the lobby gracefully; bowing upon seeing the room was occupied already. “What a fine day in the kingdom, is it not?” She just wanted to play pretend. Just for a bit.
She still had major problems with the sun, but of course, she had her methods of coping. A parasol, or sunglasses and a sun hat of some kind were usually enough to keep her going without any injuries, and she was starting to like the day, though she did long for her care-free nights again, without having to worry about burns or dying.
Mavis carefully adjusted the blinds in the room and let out a small sigh, taking her hat off of her head and tossing it down onto the sofa. The light bulbs would provide enough light for her to deal with, and she adjusted her dress, smiling to herself. She’d actually gone for a little walk in the sunshine -- she couldn’t believe she’d dared to do it, especially with how warm it was starting to get, but she’d done it!
As Sophie’s words reached her however, she turned, smiling and clasping her hands behind her back, tilting her head to one side curiously. Sophie looked just like a Princess in one of those human fairy-tale books, and she let out a little laugh at her words.
❝Well, it sure is warm and sunny! Nothing bad seems to be happening, so you’re probably right!❞ She glanced around her for a moment, before adding in a theatrical whisper: ❝Am I supposed to curtsey? ❞
The flight suit testing had gone better than he’d ever hoped for, and Hiccup let out a small sigh of relief, closing the wings of the mix of wood and metal. It was a prototype – he was hoping soon to incorporate the design into some clothing - perhaps hide armour – but he was trying to get the design right. Still, it’d been a successful flight with Toothless, and he rolled his shoulders back in some relief, letting out a small sigh. Flying was always his medium to cheer himself up, and he was glad of it.
Setting the flight suit against the wall, Hiccup moved into the blue lobby, and Mavis’s question caught him entirely off-guard. He looked up at her, surprised, and slowly dragged a hand through his wind-swept locks.
“A little bit.” He admitted – “To- to the ———-out of the blue, thing, I mean.”
He moved towards her, taking a seat down next to the vampire, and leaned his elbows against his knees, trying to think of a way to word his emotions. He was never the best at talking about them, but, still…
“I do miss my dad. Feels like years since I’ve seen him last, maybe it has been. Kinda hard to tell here. I miss my village too - didn’t really think I would, but.. home is home, you know?”
❝I guess I kinda think out loud, sometimes. I didn’t even ----------know who I was talking to. I’m glad it was you.❞
Mavis twisted slightly, her legs crossed, and faced him fully, small smile replacing the frown on her lips, but she let out a small sigh, rubbing her arms after a moment. Once again, Hiccup’s words made her think of her own father, and it hurt. She’d give anything to chase mice with him one more time.
❝Yeah, home is home..❞ She trailed off, her voice growing quiet, before she cleared her throat, trying to change the subject, jabbing her thumb behind her at his invention. ❝So! What’s that thinga-mabob you brought in here? Trying to fly without wings again?❞
Hotel Transylvania 2
The castle really had a MOUSE problem lately. Not that it was any skin off of Mavis’s back, she loved mice, they made a healthy and enjoyable snack between blood-beater meals, and chasing them in her bat form was a fun way to pass the nights away. Still, even that brought back memories of sharing meals with her father, and the longer she was here, the longer she MISSED him.
She didn’t miss the hotel, with its empty rooms and its lack of company, but she missed her family. She missed shared flights with her father; she even missed his over-affectionate pet names and the way he used to baby her. She missed her Uncle Frank and Auntie Eunice - Wanda and Wayne, Murrary and Griffon - these halls were just as lonely without other monsters around.
❝Do you ever think about your family?❞
The question was posed the moment she heard somebody else enter the room, and she lifted her bright blue eyes upwards to peer at them, black lips curling down in a prominent frown.
❝Sorry. That was out of the blue, huh?❞
