My profile picture is a really cinematic photo I took of Devon Corp while I was visiting Rustboro City. I don’t usually do photography though. Found the banner image online somewhere.
Asks open, but I don’t expect many people to find me.
As for the proper credits, profile picture is from the Bulbapedia wiki and I drew the banner myself!
Tag guide:
max in hoenn - posts that take place during the time that max is living in hoenn. he will move eventually, though, and i’ll add more tags here when it happens.
max’s pokemon - max doesn’t have any partners as of writing this, but he will gain some as the story progresses.
max’s photography - basically anytime i make a drawing for the blog that’s supposed to be a photograph in-universe. eventually i’ll probably redraw the profile picture so its consistent! but i’m not good at drawing so these will be minimal for the time being
important - exactly what it says on the tin. big events, interpersonal drama, character building, and changes in team will happen here.
casual posting - posts that are just there for “ambience” but don’t really contribute anything plot-wise.
ooc posts - posts made from my perspective instead of maxen’s.
asks - asks are open! ask him anything and he’ll respond pretty quickly because i don’t want to use the queue button. go my 15 posts in a row followed by radio silence for the next 24 hours
reblogs with tags - max leaving stuff in the tags of other people’s posts
reblogs with words - max directly responding and maybe conversing with people in reblogs
empty reblogs - will try to limit these. any reblogs that don’t have anything added to them in the tags or otherwise.
Wait, you’re able to challenge gyms out of order?
im pretty sure only galar has a set gym order but thats more cause of their weird way of doing gyms and everything.
in most places, or at the very least unova, you just kinda do gyms in whatever order of towns is closest or you have the chance to visit. most leaders adjust teams for how many badges you have so beginner trainers aren't experiencing coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb fights immediately
i guess making it a bigger televised sport involved making stricter regulations, which tracks with how most sports work nowadays. i mean they even have a major and a minor league while most regions just have however many official gyms. theres also something to be said about how making gym battles massive televised events with a dedicated season where most of the participants have already proven themselves wjth a couple small tourney wins and what not allowa the league to make far more money than other leagues where you show up for a weekend, wait yourturn, then go

Everyone who comes in this gym and doesn't think I'm A. an actual gym leader or B. trying to pick up martial arts, wants me to teach their pokemon cross chop and close combat. pause and think why I don't just stack all my fighting types with heavy hitting, high risk attacks.
1. I'm by what many consider the "third gym" in an "optimal" hoenn gym challenge, so I deal with a lot of rookies who've been able to power through gyms one and two with blunt level grinding. You start noticing that all your new moves have a higher bp on bulbapedia, and you extrapolate that you need to just get more powerful moves.
2. people drawn to fighting types are often ego driven. big powerful attacks are cool to execute and pump the ego.
makes sense that people want to know these attacks, but I can also teach swords dance and bulk up. that might be more handy for your current movepool.

Hello sweetie! Welcome to Rotomblr! Have fun and stay safe out there! ✨
So! What’s your favorite pokemon and what do you love about them? 💖
Oh, hey!
It’s Alolan Vulpix. 100%. Legitimately I cannot emphasize enough just how much I love them.
I’ve always preferred the cold, I guess (ironic considering how tropical Hoenn is), so I’m partial to ice types. And I guess I kind relate to it on that front, too. A. Vulpix is an ice type and yet lives in one of the hottest regions.
