Eager to impress his friend now that they had safely made it passed the guards and anyone else who may ruin the fun, Max nodded self-assuredly. “Yeah. Well-these are decommissioned.” To be sure, he gingerly brought his hand to the bottom of one of the hanging wires, hardly flinching when a couple sparks lept across his fingers. “The charge is so weak in them, at the worse it’ll feel like the kind of static shock you get from a shirt out of the dryer.” Grinning, he took the rope-like thing in his hand, positioned himself with bent knees and-letting out a exclamation, swung himself across the room without another moment’s hesitation, jumping off at the last second to let his feet slide across a sideways facing moniter screen before landing on solid ground a few feet from where Harry still stood. Upon landing, he fumbled slightly, but otherwise had come up unharmed. “Your turn!” He called over casually, even if he could feel his heart racing with the thrill of it.
Harry nodded, blinking when the other swung off and almost letting out a worried noise- almost. He visibly relaxed at seeing the intern land safely on the floor, clearing his throat and inclining his head nonchalantly.
"Alright…" The heir murmured, taking ahold of the wire and tugging it a few times just to be sure the cord wouldn’t snap before warily looking around and deciding if he was going to die early he may as well do it in style while having fun.
Harry hated heights but… this didn’t look too bad… more or less.
He swung across, attempting to keep in a rather embarrassing noise that escaped his lips at the sensation of being lifted off the ground before managing to land on the floor, tripping forward yet nonetheless managing to keep upright.
Good, he was still alive.
Harry cleared his throat once more, straightening up and smirking, deciding that wasn’t so bad, all things considered.
"I bet I can swing higher than you." He teased lightly, gently elbowing Max before cracking a half grin; honestly though the intern was rather good at this and Harry doubted he had the ability to go higher than the other but of course decided he couldn’t go and back down now.
As Harry made his way across, Max kept a vigilant eye on him, going so far as to cross his fingers in hopes that he would land harmlessly. It wasn’t a fear of getting in trouble for dragging Harry into something that may possibly hurt the heir, it was more a sort of protection that he felt. And so when the other landed cooly (aside from tripping, Max thought with some amusement) in front of him, the intern let out a loud sigh of relief.
Glancing at Harry, the intern thinks for a moment, as if still registering that every small gesture Harry made was indeed friendly.
"Oh really?" Max shrugged. "I dunno. You looked pretty cool back there, but if its a contest you want…" Returning the look, Max sauntered toward one of the wires, fixing his grip and nodding for Harry to hold on to one as well, smiling demurely despite his words of confidence.
Harry cracked a grin, giving a nod and taking hold on one of the wires, ignoring the vague shocks that hit his palms at the touch and straightening up. “On three?” He chuckled, still a bit wary about heights and them both being in a seemingly abandoned electric room and whatnot but not nearly as much as he’d previously been, blue eyes glancing over at the other in a sideways glance.
Max nodded back, fixing his gaze on the floor. Given, they were pretty high up, but from here he calculated that a fall would only result in minor bruising at most. It was in is nature to be calculating of these things even if he appeared to be reckless. Already making a mental note he said “If you fall and lose your balance on the way, just barrel roll. You know how right?” And then, before the other could answer, he counted to three before swinging himself forward, gently at first, then more rapidly, feeling the wind rush through his hair with every swaying movement. Shutting his eyes, his smile is wide enough to reveal the wide gap in his teeth, and a small winded laugh bubbles from his throat.
Exploring Oscorp
Harry stared at Max for a moment somewhat blankly. "A barrel- what?" He blinked, watching the other swing off and taking a few seconds to attempt figuring out how exactly one did such a roll before shrugging mostly to himself and decided if needed he'd improvise if he ended up slipping.
The CEO leapt forward, cracking a smirk rather proud of himself before looking down and- oh dear gosh he hadn't realized they were this high up or at least now it at least looked a lot higher up anyways and just- shit.
Harry let out a nervous laugh to cover up the small noise he made at the height, looking over at Max and giving something suspiciously close to a pout with how high up the other was compared to him.
"How are you not-" Harry blinked, hearing something snap and letting out yet another noise as he fell to the ground with cord in hand, groaning a bit sore but nonetheless standing up and brushing himself off, glad that hadn't hurt as much as he figured it would. "-scared?" The boy finished, looking up at the intern and tilting his head curiously. "Are you fearless or something?" He teased, half serious considering almost everyone he'd encountered in life seemed rather afraid of heights or getting caught in places like this or something of the sort.
"A barrel roll dude!" Max called turning to watch Harry's progress as he moved steadily himself. "Don't worry you'll be fine!"
Then-oh shit (pardon his French)-Max had been in the middle of responding when he watched Harry fall, as though in slow motion, his own legs flailing momentarily as though he could jettison himself off his own rope and grab Harry onto his cord with him before he reached the ground.
Man, playing around with the heir had been more amusing then Max had thought. Max was grinning ecstactically, not aware that his earlier momentum (during the few seconds it took him to stop himself from jumping off after Harry) had caused his grip to loosen- and he payed for that as he turned in the middle of a forward swing to respond to Harry calling to him. his legs not withheld around the cord, and his fingers scrabbling loosely over it. With a resounding 'whump' he landed nearly face first, managing to take his own advice in barrel rolling. The world was upside down and he was on his back, staring at the ceiling with his breath trying to work its way out with some effort. Not much pain thanks to his "expert landing", naturally.
"Me?" he gasped, partly from giggling and partly from the fall. "Scared of a little fall? Cuts and bruises? Yeah right. I'm king of the world Harry. Nothin' scares me."
