Jie was scared of what was going to happen during the purge. Sure, he announced what day and time it was — but she didn’t know if she was going to survive it. Even trying to hop the walls and escape seemed like a better chance than what she had inside.
Hearing some scuffle outside, Jie knew she had to check it out. And she saw a young girl, being forcefully knocked over. That wasn’t right. “Hey, what are you doing?” Jie snapped, getting between the girl and the man that was being the aggressor.
Maya stood up touching her forehead, the cut she had gotten in the past week was open once again, her fingers covered in blood proved it. “Let it be, he’s not going to kill me today, but he sure will come for me during the purge.”
