So, if you read chapter 1, you would know Dean ends by being stuck in a college/normie AU. This next chapter will conclude that segment as we lead into another by the end of the chapter.
Since this is an AU hopping fic, Iâm trying to focus just as much on the different AUs and their world building as I am with Dean and his insufferable (but adorably homoerotic) yearning.
And, since youâre all so kind, here is a teaser for yall to guess what the new AU might be!!
Chapter Two: Not The Same (Teaser Edition)
Castiel stood stiffly around the edge of a small pond. Close enough for his toes to barely touch the water as it lapped against the shore. In Castielâs right hand, he clutched a loaf of white bread which he used to toss at the ducks who swam by. He smiled softly as the ducks dove for the crumbs and threw some more.
Despite all of his intensity, for Castiel, it was relaxed.
Almost immediately, Dean knew this wasnât his Castiel.Â
But it was him, wasnât it?
Castiel was still Castiel.
Even when other angels tried to beat it out of him, when Dean tried to argue it out of him, when Naomi tried to drill it out of him. Hell, whenever Heaven, Earth, and literal Hell tried to beat the real Castiel out of Castiel, he came back even stronger.
So, although it wasnât the Castiel he had come to know and love, it was still Castiel. And hopefully, no matter the universe, Dean was still Dean.
With this newfound comfort lingering in his mind, he took a step forward, calling out Castielâs name, because talking to him directly would be the best way to figure out what new kind of hell Dean landed in.
Castiel didnât acknowledge him.
(Yeah, so maybe Dean was wrong about Castiel being the same in every universeâ Sue him. This was his first time on this nightmare merry-go-round.)
Already frustrated at his own menial attempt to get Castielâs attention, he stormed forward, forcing all of his energy into the impending bitch slap he was about to give when he slammed face-first into a wall of cool and crystal clear glass.
Castiel was right within his reach. He could see, hear, and smell him in an all-consuming haze of Cas, but heaven-forbid he touched him.
âCastiel! Come on you feathery son of a bitch, turn around!â
Dean pounded his fist into the invisible wall, wanting nothing more to break through, even if this version of Castiel didnât know who he was.
However, before he was able, a white light consumed him whole, seemingly yanking him out of whatever peeping-tom-esque cage he was in. Sam, towering over Dean in his 6â4 glory, shoved him up against a wallâ being the only shred of color in the starkly white room.
Before Dean had the chance to ask his plethora of awaiting questions, Sam hissed under his breath, his hazel eyes murderous instead of like a wounded puppy, âWhat the fuck were you doing? Have you forgotten everything?â
