helaena targaryen | goodbye helaena, we barely knew you / the subway
you can also tell no one (writers included) cares about rhaenyra as a victim because no one cares about daeron and ormund. of course, your uncle, your uncle who looks at you special, your uncle who likes you more than he likes the rest of your family. your uncle who teaches you the histories, who talks about the old ways. the uncle who whispers that you are better than the rest, that you can rule as a man above men. the uncle with his hand always on you. the uncle who make you flinch when he yells. the uncle who teases and pushes and taunts. the uncle who goes rogue. the uncle who, although you would not mutter it to many, you know only wants you on the throne as he cannot sit it himself. it’s very strange that hotd pulled such an audible in characterizing daeron and ormund this way but still wants you to be rooting for daemon on the other end of the plot.
I genuinely think it's more entertaining watching HotD when you don't have a particular team and think everybody's kinda shitty one way or another and also remember that they're all already dead from the beginning so you don't get too attached... the only problem I have with this show is having to watch the dragons be hurt and die, I cannot deal with that 💔
Alicent's last joy dying from the hand of her first happiness in the same place she used to find it
feels like Alicent left Rhaenyra alone for two days and a city has been burnt to the ground, the good influence counselor has been exiled, the pope is dead Thomas Becket style, the casualties are countless, the bad influence counselor is burning children, every ally is a hater, the secret prophecy was shouted at the general public, and their daughter jumped out of a window
“Our Father would hate you for this.”
“And yet, he did nothing to prevent it.”
FUCKING CLOCK IT FUCKING CLOCK IT I AM SO TIRED OF THAT MOTHERFUCKER GETTING AWAY SCOT-FREE FUCK YOU VISERYS NOBODY HATES THAT MF MORE THAN I DO
I need Alicent to strut into season 4 stronger, bitterer, more wounded, more vicious, and infinitely more vindictive. I need an Alicent who has finally reached the point where she simply does not give a fuck about consequences anymore. Religion? Reputation? History? Rhaenyra's opinion of her? The judgement of the realm? What exactly does she have left to lose? I need her to call Rhaenyra out on everything. I need all that grief to finally curdle into anger. I need Alicent to stop internalizing every tragedy as evidence of her own failure and start looking around at the people who actually made these choices and say: "No. You did this too."
Because yes, she has lost Helaena, but Jaehaera is still alive, and suddenly Alicent has something to protect again. And then imagine her discovering, one by one, that Aegon is alive, Aemond is alive, and PLEASE, hopefully, Daeron is alive too. Imagine the realization hitting her that her family isn't gone. It's scattered, broken, traumatized, but alive. And suddenly the woman who thought she had nothing left to live for has a reason to live again. Except this time, I don't want her crawling back into the same cycle of guilt. I want her emerging from it completely changed. Because maybe she was wrong to believe that surrendering would end the bloodshed, wrong to believe Rhaenyra would necessarily be the better ruler, wrong to believe that if she sacrificed enough pieces of herself and her family, eventually there would be peace. And maybe, horrifyingly, painfully, she realizes she was right to trust her instincts in the first place. Maybe putting Aegon on the throne wasn't simply Otto's ambition or Alicent's misunderstanding. Maybe she looks at everything Rhaenyra has become and thinks: "I was right to fear you." And she stands beside Aegon because that's her son, that's her King, and this time she chooses him with her eyes completely open. Give me the Green Queen again. Alicent who tried surrender, reconciliation, sacrifice, mercy, tried choosing peace over pride, and lost her daughter anyway.
If history insists on painting Alicent as the villain, then let her finally be her. Let Rhaenicent enter its bitter divorce era. Just two women staring across the ruins of everything they once meant to each other and realizing that whatever love remains between them has finally become inseparable from resentment. Give me Alicent looking at Rhaenyra and realizing: "I loved you. I trusted you. I chose you over my own instincts. And look what it cost me."
Then let her straighten her crown, gather whatever remains of her children and grandchildren around her, and light the fucking way.
they would've been so powerful together
they would've been so powerful together
"Normal people" wrecked me as a writer because sally rooney never tells you what her characters are feeling. She just tells you what they do with their hands. What they look at. What they don't say. And you feel everything anyway. Actually you feel more because you're doing the work yourself. The reader's participation is the emotion. She just sets the conditions and steps back. I reread certain scenes three times trying to find where the feeling was and it was never in the words. It was in the gaps between them.
this website lets you listen to the sounds of all different forests around the world
Reblogging again cause I tried this site last night and if you need background noise to focus this is perfect for that, I was locked the fuck in on a task. And it’s also just gorgeous to listen to
how are we feeling after the last episode? 🐉🗡️
daemon “well she’s my wife” and mysaria “well she trusts me more than you” going back and forth until alicent gets brought up and both their dumbasses just gotta sit there like this because she still tops overall
