wait tell us why your least faves are your least faves !!
even on discord, people were asking me why. i chose not to explain simply it would be too complicated to tell you why. it's mostly for weird reasons and my own taste in storytelling.
but since we're on tumblr... i'll start with the very silly first
Also, how do we judge here ? By missed potential ? By lack of presence ? By frustration ? By favoritism ? By how annoying they are ? By how much they make me feel bad things ? By comparison ? By expectations not met ? For the jokes maybe X) ?
That was why I can't choose just one. There is too much parameters at play here. Not all of them checks all of the list for me to truly despise them. I guess I'd give kudos at the game for not having a character I truly hate yet lmao
Bardon : hehe, it's very very dumb. When swiftpage was released, there was a time when I only got Bardon's post and it made me pissed 'cause i wasn't interested in him at all. Then I read his backstory (which is cool, don't get me wrong) and did his bounties, and i was like "oh so not only you're annoying me but you're also annoying your own family. and quite loud at that too. yeah, time to reset you and leave you in lvl 1 limbo" 😂 I do have some sympathy for him because I know what he's going through but that ends there. his only crime is being annoying and in fiction, being annoying is unforgivable
Lu Yi : actually, i don't mind him at all. His backstory is actually quite good. BUT ! he is left out by the narrative, he's doesn't really have a distinct characterisation, and except for screaming "GOTTATAKEANARROWTOTHEHEAVENSTOROOTOUTEVIL" at an incredible speed (which is funny in retrospect cause i heard it so much i'm able to do it even faster), he's just very much forgetable. why should i care about him ?
Feng Xun : same. he has more characterisation tho. but it's still not enough to make him memorable. His friendship with Li Ling is also pretty anecdotical, it's probably to associate Nezha and Predeterminated Fate which is a big theme in the book but other than that, it kinda undermines Li Ling's role in Yun Chuan Event's flashbacks. And Prederminated Fate theme ? It is so small compared to the rest of the Dislyte's lore, not explored enough either, why should I care about it ? It would have been interested if Feng Xun would be like "oh damn, my predictions says Li Ling would die soon ?" not only it would tease Li Ling's death and would get people on the hook, but it would actually be interested to explore Feng Xun's feeling towards it regardless of what he chooses to do and gives him complexity.
Bi Tao : He is petty, and on its own it's okay. But for very childish reasons. Reminder it's an adult man who, because he was less popular than Lu Shang in school, sent Lu Shang's student to their death and more later on. Shen Gongbao is also very petty but he thought Jiang Ziya attempted to kill him and the Chan sect didn't help with the situation. It's better than "boohoo i'm less popular than that guy :(" (but I'd be happy to see more of him)
Lu Shang : He's just a very flat character. I still don't know about the "crime" he commited, probably because he was an Esper and Tangton hates Espers but it's also something kind of left out by the narrative. But he is also less interesting than his counterpart Jiang Ziya, who is an old grumpy man thrown in a war he didn't ask to be part with. And believe me, Jiang Ziya is way more entertaining than Lu Shang
Daniel : I love Long Mian. Knowing Daniel "betrayed" him, of course I invested in him to know why. And I must collect fragments to summon him. Cool. I have him now, I'm using ressources to level up him to get lore, and it was early game. Sucks but I have to do it. I'm reading his entries. There is no mention of Long Mian whatsoever. Okay. Maybe it's in his bounties ? So I do his bounties. Still no mention of Long Mian. There is this one bounty where he shows a Miramon to his class (which in hindsight is a very irresponsible thing for a teacher to do, even if he has control over the situation, it is quite common for people to get attacked by Miramons I'm sure at least one of his student was traumatized by it). So, not only I wasted my time with him, but he probably judged Long Mian as someone deranged for capturing and keeping Miramons in ice when he himself got a hand on a Miramon and exposed it to people when it was clearly dangerous. I call that hypocrisy.
Yamato ? : it is a love-hate relationship. Surprise surprise, the character I love the most is also the one I dislike the most too. There is so many reasons as to why : he basically forced his way into my brain, put post-its with his face on almost every animatic i had in mind, and decided to live in my head rent free. one thing that exasperate me about him is that I KNOW he is a bad person and there is almost no chance of redemption with that parasite. (even my alt!yamato isn't a babyfying version of him and i'm happy with it). Yamato is the definition of "I can fix him"/"I can make him worse"/"I can accept him as he is" and I'm having a blast. he makes me feel so much and he also distracts me from what i should really do (which is my fault x) ) I'm a bit sad because he's been absent for quite a while now and he kinda lost his role as a villain (for now,i hope :') ) but I think he is also one of the most complex and multi-faceted characters the Dislyte team ever wrote (or it's just me projecting onto him a lot of things i want). in conclusion: I have so much mixed feelings about him, i keep thinking of him and i'm afraid it won't end just yet. how romantic.
Honourable mentions : Chu Yao (an incredible villain with on going missed potential), MC (i just kinda want to rewrite him from beginning just because of the huge mistep Dislyte team took.... I'm blaming the producers lmao) Jiang Jiuli (being a casual player, getting blocked by that fucker was hella frustrating. then i remember that I quite like the character and his story, but Amir can kick his ass now that I've builded him)
