Hello everyone, I am Maysa. I live in Gaza and I have two children, Adi, 9 years old and Mai, 5 years old. I used to live a quiet life before the war, and I was very happy with my husband. The war came and destroyed everything, my home and my life. My children left their education, and their lives were affected and their psychology was affected. There is no education for them, my husband left his job, and we have no shelter. There is no housing or education for the children. All aspects of life in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed. On a fateful day, we heard the bombing sounds approaching. The neighbors screams mixed with the sounds of explosions, and we ran in search of shelter. There were only moments until our house fell, the house that witnessed our childhood, our dreams, and our laughter, became a pile of rubble. We went out to the streets without shelter, only carrying our memories and unforgettable pain. We are looking for a place to live, for food that blocks the hunger of our children, for an opportunity for a new life away from destruction. But where is the escape? Gaza is besieged, the borders are closed, and hope fades with every day that passes. Today, we appeal to all compassionate hearts, everyone who can extend a helping hand, to help us get out of this suffering. In one of the afflicted neighborhoods of Gaza, Uday, a ten-year-old child, was sitting next to his little sister, Mai, who was no more than seven years old. They shared an old notebook and a pencil that barely wrote. “When I grow up, I will become an engineer and build our school again,” Uday said as he drew houses and trees. Mai looked at him with an innocent smile and said: “And I will be a teacher. I will teach all the children who lost their school.” Since their small school was destroyed, Adi and Mai have been unable to go to classes. But their mother did not allow despair to creep in on them. I collected papers from the remains of old books for them, and prepared a small corner in the house for them to be their “private school.” Uday was drawing and dreaming of a better future, while Mai was trying to write simple words. Every time she wrote a word correctly, her little hands clapped proudly. Despite the siege, poverty and destruction, hope resided in their hearts. Uday once told his mother: “We will not give up. One day we will build everything again.” The story of Uday and Mai is the story of the children of Gaza, who were deprived of their most basic rights, but they did not lose their faith in tomorrow. The war came and destroyed everything, my home and my life. My children left their education, and their lives were affected and their psychology was affected. There is no education for them, my husband left his job, and we have no shelter. There is no housing or education for the children. All aspects of life in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed.
