ABOUT THE GARDEN CASTLETON TEA GARDEN CASTLETON TEA GARDEN Natively known as Kumseri, the Castleton Tea Garden winds down Southern Kurseong at elevations of 2500 ft to 5000 ft. Planted in 1865 by Dr. Charles Graham, it is believed that the presence of a Castle-like English Cottage serving as a bank near the garden brought in the name, Castleton. A pioneer of the crème-de-la-crème specialty Darjeeling teas, the gardens are covered by 70% china variety, 12% Clonal, and some Assamica variety. Castleton’s 320 hectares of the area receives the highest rainfall in the district. The garden has two divisions: Springside and Castleton and their bushes enjoy the benefit of facing both northwest and southeast directions. ABOUT THE GARDEN ARYA TEA ESTATE In the Eastern Valleys of Darjeeling, below Rajbari is located the secluded Arya Tea Garden. Natively known as ‘Sidrabong’, meaning three streams’, this North-western facing estate has 125 hectares of land under tea, and stands at an elevation of 4600 feet above sea level. Although established in the year 1885, Legend vouches that first tea bushes here were planted as early as 1765 by Buddhist monks or Aryas, after whom the garden is presently named. The abode of the monks still stands today at the garden’s premises. Arya's production is much anticipated for its collection of specialty Jewel teas, the quality of which the Garden has consistently fulfilled through the years. TURZUM MOONSHINE 2ND FLUSH 2021 Turzum, Tibetan for 'the place where mushrooms grow abundantly', is nestled between Mirik and Darjeeling in the Rangbhang Valley. Located at an elevation of 4700 feet above sea level, the garden was established in 1863 by British and Scottish planters. Since then, the 275 hectares of this garden has stood out for its exceptional quality in high elevation Darjeeling teas. Bio-organic since 2007, the garden is majorly west and southwest facing and contains nearly 80% of China cultivars. During 1934 the nearby Sungma Factory was devastated by a massive earthquake & merged with Turzum. In 1993 Turzum found shelter under the umbrella of M/S Jayshree Tea & Industries Ltd. Today, the two sister gardens share a single processing unit at Turzum and since 2009 clonal teas are exclusively marketed under the name of 'Turzum'.
