HELLO EVERYONE!! first off, i’d like to say thank you to each && every one of you who’s stayed with me this year. i’m incredibly thankful, because this has been one of the most stressful ones of my life, && i’m looking forward to the next one knowing i have all of you. but there is something i’d like to introduce / shift towards in the coming year that i’m hoping everyone will understand.

tumblr has been getting hard for me to keep up with. i still want to do it as much as possible, but i’ve actually found that discord rp is more satisfying, because it’s a step back from the icons && formatting && queuing && stress that i found to accompany tumblr rp. so this is what i think is going to happen this year, that i’m hoping people will do with me. while i still will be doing drafts here && queuing them like normal, i’m going to be roleplaying a lot more on discord. hopefully all of you will join me there, because i think it offers more chances to create pre-established relationships, to make headcanons, && to explore a bunch of aus that would take so long to write on tumblr.

  kara used to be the girl he assumed hated conflict — how wrong he’d been when he learned that she was out flying around the city in blue & red, saving people every day. it was brilliant, & something that he couldn’t possibly imagine having to handle, because loss had to be so much harder in a hero’s heart than anyone else’s. well, he supposed he’s going to have to witness that first hand right now, huddled against a wall in the back room of the mayor’s office where a masked gunman in holding them all while another types on his computer. it’s not like he’s hiding anything on it, & if he was, it’d be hiding some place else, but this mayor is one of the good guys — that’s the only reason newt would be supporting his campaigns & working for him. but nonetheless, here they are, fearing for their lives. but newt hears a rush in the air, & can’t help the small smile on his face when the window near him shatters. there she is, standing tall ( the girl of steel, someone whispers, & he nods ).

  the next few seconds pass in a blur, but just as fast as she came, the two gunman are down on the ground, tied up. with a flash of a smile, kara was gone.

  after talking with the police & clearing the story up ( everyone is okay thanks to supergirl ), he made a beeline for her apartment, the place where he had spent so many nights watching movies & eating potstickers, knocking quickly. it was like his fist barely connected with the door when it swung open, kara’s glasses-less face looking him over with worried eyes, before pulling him into one of the tightest hugs he’d ever experienced, which is funny considering minho’s hugs. “kara, you’re gonna suffocate me.” he managed to get out, despite wrapping his own arms around her. “i’m alright, yeah? thanks to you. you don’t have to break my lungs.”

liar liar liar

CLARITY WAS FLEETING from time to time. one moment, thomas could visibly see that his FRIEND recognized him, that he could speak to him as though they were back in the glade with gally’s repulsive concoction in their hands. and other moments – he could’ve sworn that he saw newt KILLING him behind those dilated eyes. he could see the R A G E that boiled beneath the surface of the boy and thomas would be lying if he said he hadn’t thought about following through with newt’s request. however, that was just as fleeting as newt’s sanity was. words tore through him like blades, ripping him apart just from the aggression behind the crank’s voice alone. “newt – “ the name held such POWER, such weight over him that it was hard to even say it now. the guilt was rising in his chest, greeting like an unwanted friend and all he could do was stand there motionless at the boy. at the remnants of who his friend used to be.

whiskey eyes lowered to his feet, not daring enough to meet the daggers that stared back at him. he knew that he had FAILED him. thomas knew that all too well. but he was thoughtless – hopeful in a world that he had lost faith in. “i… we’re gonna find you a cure. something to help. even… even if it’s just to slow down the process.” SELFISH SELFISH SELFISH. “i… i promise you, newt. we’re gonna find it for you. i PROMISE.”

   there wasn’t enough air to breath in the room all of a sudden -- at least that’s what it felt like. maybe it was the chains or maybe it was thomas being right in front of him, but his chest felt constricted, like he couldn’t breathe properly. this wasn’t the silly affection feeling he used to get around the other either ( the one he never admitted to ), where his stomach fluttered. no, this was... something else. get out. get out. get out. his arms start to tug on the bindings without even thinking about it, just trying to reach for something he wouldn’t be able to get to. “don’t say my name!” venom seeped into his voice, the anger feeling like it was in his bones, in his entire body, not just his mind. “you don’t get to say my name anymore! not after you lied to me, again & again!” everything was a lie. everything was a lie. not just him, everyone was a liar at this point. but at least this way he could take it out on someone, someone who deserved it in this case. 

   “look me in the eye & say that again.” his voice was low, an edge of calm seeping back in. he felt like he could breath again, the raging tides of the storm inside him ebbing. “look me in the eye & tell me you can find something before i turn into one of those bloody things. because if you can’t-” his voice cracks, & he pulls forward again ( not in anger -- he needs to see thomas’s eyes just this once ). “-then i don’t want that to happen to me. please.”

Kara knew the symptoms of a panic attack, it clearly spoke volumes on his face. She dropped down onto her knees looking at Newt as she pressed her hands on his shoulder. “Its okay, find something to hold onto, something to focus on. I’m not going to leave, just try and breath. Deep breathes,” Kara said, so concerned for her friend.

   it had been a long time since newt had a panic attack about his past -- about the time before minho & thomas & the group that loved him -- but after waking up from the nightmare of the group of terrible people surrounding him, making him the target, he couldn’t stop it. deep breaths weren’t coming, but he managed to grab on to kara’s arm, closing his eyes. “they were right there.” he whispered, shaking his head.

newt’s modern verse takes place mainly in high school, set within the group of gladers also within the modern world. this can easily be changed around to fit other interactions, as well as older / adult newt!

newt was born in england with his loving parents, his sister being born a couple years after him. but after a couple years there, when sonya was still in her youngest years, the family had to move to america because of his father’s job. he still had his british accent, because he’d been old enough to learn it from his parents, but sonya didn’t have it, growing up around american kids & teachers. 

his name was isaac, named for isaac newton. that’s what everyone called him there. 

in the first suburb they stayed, isaac thought he loved it there. slowly, he started to realize that he was bisexual ( one of the athletes was just... a really attractive guy ), & as soon as he told one of his friends, the entire school knew, & he was being targeted because of it. he was the reason everyone joked, & he couldn’t do anything about it. he started to develop depression, & soon his parents noticed, but it was already too late. after being pushed for so long, he attempted to take his own life, jumping off one of the nearby bridges near his house. 

it didn’t work though -- & now his leg was just busted up. he’d never walk on it right again, the doctors said. he’d always have a limp. but after that, his parents decided to move all of them again ( pick up the family & move them somewhere where this wouldn’t happen ). 

starting as a sophomore in a new high school terrified him, but he didn’t have much of a choice. but after a couple weeks, he found a group of guys that just... accepted him. he told them his name was isaac, but named after isaac newton, & one of them ( his name was minho, & he was one of the only people who listen to him ) immediately called him newt. it stuck. 

he’s still got depression, & he still has nightmares about what happened, but at this point? he’s happy. that’s all that matters. 

dctv variant!

within the dctv shows, all events in the main modern verse have taken place, & a smaller group of the boys ended up going to college together, only they were in coast city. when newt finished his pre-med degree, he went to central city to continue studying, because more than anything he wanted to cure diseases. a current resident of central city, he is not a metahuman, but he’s very aware of them, & is incredibly interested in their genetic makeups. 

supergirl variant!

within the supergirl show, all events in the main modern verse have taken place, & a smaller group of the boys ended up going to college together, at the same college that kara danvers happened to be at. he noticed odd things about her ( like the time she broke a piece of table off in her bare hand ), but said nothing of it, instead continuing to be her friend & getting extremely close to her. he majored in political science, & ended up working in the office of national city’s mayor, still close to the reporter as she worked at catco. if that pre-established relationship isn’t okay, it is definitely okay to change it as well!

he betrayed me

trembling digits attempted to grip tighter around the canteen in his grasp, pausing in front of the restrained boy at his feet. the permanent twist in his gut had sunk lower, pulled tighter and all thomas could do was accept the fact that this was HIS fault. “here – “ his voice low, apprehensive as if he didn’t know if he should even be hovering this CLOSE. “it’s just water. you haven’t drank anything all day.” slowly, his knees bent to sink down to newt’s level, undoing the lid while sorrow-filled eyes couldn’t even bear to meet the other boy’s own. he would see his guilt that way, his FEAR and SELF HATRED for not being able to accept newt’s final wishes.

   the room was cold. cold & dark. there were moments where this went in & out, between the clarity of the moment when he looked at the boy he considered a friend, begging him one last time to end this -- then back to the anger. it was all consuming, making every good thought he had into a bitter one, one where he hated the people he once loved. including the one now in front of him. he’s not quite sure where his head is at the moment, but he knows good or bad, it’s still not okay. “y’should have killed me.” his voice was low, refusing to meet thomas’s eyes. the bindings on his would keep him from trying to kill him, but his words were so laced with poison it would be enough. “i thought you were my friend, tommy. what happened to the maze? to everythin’?” he snapped, jaw clenching as he raised his head. “just -- go. now.”

      WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM ?  that’s what she’d ask if they were in a complete different circumstance and situation, but she fears he’ll answer as most would  …  so she simply restrains herself from doing it, swallows the words   ❛    i once tried to learn  —-  perhaps i never really paid enough attention, now i regret it   ❜    that’s not the only thing she regrets from early days…  but now is not worth remembering, time passes and it waits for no man they say, what’s done can’t be changed…  A SHAKE OF HEAD SWIPES HER OFF FROM HER REVERIE.

   talking about his parents used to hurt him so much, because his parents’ death was something he witnessed first hand, having nothing to do about it. now, it doesn’t faze him much, because he has no control over anything that happens in this world. instead, he goes with the flow of what happens, making sure his friends stay alive. “it’s not that complicated if you’ve got the time to practice. plus, it helps so i don’t have to get up close.” taking a deep breath, he starts to wrap her leg, being as gentle as possible over the wound. 

   “oh definitely. they’re smarter than the lot of us combined.” he jokes, shaking his head ( he’s blocking out any pain she shows, because he hates it -- he has to help ). “darwin liked to say that back then, didn’t he? but i don’t know if all that is crap, you know.” he’s technically one of the weak, with his permanently busted knee. but he was still alive, he was still making it through. “lara. nice to meet you, i’m newt, by the way.” he replies, thinking to himself. why does miller ring a bell? in a world like this, it’s just a coincidence. it has to be. “& it’s just newt, nothin’ else. i know it’s a bit weird, but that’s what my sister calls me.” he adds, finishing the last knot of her bandage, sitting back & handing her the painkiller bottle. “here -- it’ll let you walk for a bit.”

      OBSERVANT, attentive shimmering orbs follow his movements,  WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS ? confussion strikes, she is not defensive anymore, deep down she is aware of her crushing need of help, so why put up a fight ?  ;   IT’S OKAY, YOU CAN TRUST THE BOY,  (  if he wanted to hurt you he would have done it already  ).  A blatant smile appears above otherwise anguished countenance   ❛    but you do …  ❜    an assumption, the rifle makes it quite obvious.

The mere question forces the smile the grow wider   ❛  a man’s word is nothing but ashes blown off by the slightest breeze nowadays, i’ve had my share of broken promises  —- but NO, i wouldn’t , i would never bite the hand that once helped me stand up, on the contrary, i’ll have your back until we find a way out from this place   ❜   SHE IS NERVOUS AGAIN, knows what’s to come, recalls the procedure, hasn’t gotten used to feeling pain, makes her stomach shrink and writhe    ❛   i’m not sure if i want to do this …    ❜

   carefully he watches her reactions as he bends down, now kneeling in front of the girl with his hands still raised slightly. though the gun is over his shoulder he can easily get to it or the knife at his belt if need be -- but for some reason, in this hellscape of a world, he actually trusts the injured girl. he needs to find his sister & the rest of his friends, but the nurturer inside of him is forcing him to help ( not that he’s complaining ).

   “yeah, my parents taught me how to shoot when i was young. they were marksmen.” he replies with a smile, reaching into his bag for some clean bandages & some painkillers. he can’t help but laugh softly, shrugging as he unwound them. “well put i suppose. i appreciate it though -- i’ll have yours too.” that’s a promise he’ll keep. “my friends’d probably like you too. we need some more girls to be honest.” starting to wipe up the blood before wrapping it, his brows furrowed, looking at the girl. “hey, it’s okay. i’m gonna help you, i promise.” putting a hand on her leg reassuringly, he smiled. “what’s your name?”

   ‘ YEAH — it would be nice to get out once and a while right ? besides we could go for a little drive. ’ she knows she was pushing for a response, but she was honestly a little more worried than usually for her older brother. most of the time they would sit and talk, express what was going on and keep a careful eye out for one another to see if things got any worse. but things had grown quit between them, despite being separated for a vast majority of their lives they had grown closer the past few months and the newfound silence was causing her to become uneasy. ‘ NEWT. ’ she calls out hoping he would stop ‘ YOU KNOW YOU can talk to me right ? you don’t have to deal with whatever is going on alone. ’ 

   it’s almost like her comment falls on deaf ears, because he’s still walking past, feeling terrible for it nonetheless. but then she’s calling his name, & he stops dead in his tracks, turning to look at her. biting his lip, he nods. “i know.” he can talk to her about anything, that’s what he knew about his sister. but it’s like he hit a wall, because he blames himself for too much. “you can come walk with me if you want.” he offers, raising an eyebrow. talking would be good for him, that’s something minho always said. now more than ever was that applicable. “if you want to talk, that is.” he adds, a small smile on his face before he turns, starting to walk again. it’s a little slow, waiting for her to catch up, but if she hadn’t stopped him, he would have walked until his mind was clear, & he wasn’t sure when that would be. now at least he could apologize for the one thing he hadn’t so far.

  HER HANDS WERE SHAKING as if the wall she had built in her blind rage started crumble down. eyes darting from Newt, the knife and the dead clicker in the corner as her mind slowly started piecing together what she probably had done out of pure FEAR. shes holding her breath, moving to wrap her arms tightly around her brother and bury her face into his chest ( YOU’RE OKAY, I PROMISE ) his words repeat over and over again as her eyes shut tightly. ‘ DON’T YOU DARE LEAVE me again asshole. ’ her voice is shaking, as she grasps tighter to the fabric of Newts jacket. not once had they been separated since they were young and the possibility of it happening became far to real.

   his arms quickly wrapped around his sister’s as she moved into him, closing his eyes. he was worried about losing her, sure, but losing her mentally was something that terrified him even more. “i won’t.” he whispered, a soft laugh passing his lips before he could even help it. “i wouldn’t even think about it.” he added, keeping his arms around her, protecting her from everything that could potentially harm her. sticking together was all they had left ever since the apocalypse had started to affect them, & just being a room over when sonya got attacked told him that was too far. “there were some extra clothes i found in the other room, you should probably get cleaned up.” he said softly, the image of her covered in guts still fresh in his mind.

       HAZELS FRANTICALLY SCAN THE BOY, up and down they go as she tries to catch her breath   ❛   your friends ?   ❜  heart skips a beat, perhaps hunters ?  no  …. they know nothing about mercy or empathy, he wouldn’t spare her life if he was one of them   ❛   that’d be A HELL OF A PLAN if i could walk  ❜    she is NOT ASKING FOR HELP but still she gestures toward her newest injury adquisition  (  ripped pants, gunshot, nothing to worry about, the bullet went through and left her body, it’s a clean wound  )   ❛   MAYBE ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS DID THIS  ❜  

   he nods slightly, now more unsure what to do than ever. damn this new world for making him unable to trust anyone. concern laces his eyes as he finally sees the bullet wound on her leg, & he hesitates. one beat. two beats. the rifle gets shouldered right after that, & he’s walking forward slowly, hands up to show he doesn’t want to hurt her. “let me take a look at that, yeah?” he asked, crouching down slowly still, because any sudden moves might scare her. “nah, none of them are smart enough to hit a good shot like this.” he muttered, hand going to his bag. “you gonna try & kill me if i help you?”
