Ten thousand cattle straying,

What's your favorite picture on here? Or favorite picture you've taken?

My favorite is the first black background photo I successfully accomplished. It’s from 4 or 5 years ago, but it’s of a red brockle faced steer in black and white.

I love this photo. It was overcast and the golden hour was slowly making its presence known in the brown flecks of the spring calves’ hides. The quail were sounding somewhere off in the distance, their meek noises commingling with the breeze. Curiosity got the best of them all and within minutes I was surrounded by the cattle that have helped build a small legacy.

It really is the small moments we typically bypass that make the whole picture.

"Retirement Home - An Ode to Grandpa"

Your retirement home is probably veiled with Golden Gates, as they say. Although yours are made of Amber Waves of Grain. Your throne where you rest is a Farmall Super C, She may not be much, but she'll get you from A to B. And that Lady dog you had, well we all know she's at your side Because you can't keep us company on this crazy ride. You see, you left a little too early, Forced to fold your hand. But we know you're watchin' o'er us as we care for your land. The cattle graze on hillsides every day and night While we hope we're doing you proud, with all of our might. And when the moon rises and the sun fades away, We know you're all right at the end of the day. Because those Golden Gates aren't gold at all, But Amber Waves of Grain until this fall. While you sit upon your throne, In the grand ol' Retirement Home.
