I just finsihed listening to the audio book version of The Asylum For Wayward Victorian Girls by Emilie Autumn: here are my thoughts

It’s a VERY well written book, I got recommend to listen to it because I love Alice The Madness Returns, though the only similarities I can find are stripes stockings, madness and the fact it takes place in Victorian England sometimes, but I like it a lot

This one is probably going to end up being a comfort book for me tbh

I recommend this book highly but don’t go into it thinking it has anything to do with Alice in Wonderland or Madness or anything similar

The ending? Chefs kiss.

It wasn’t lost on me that the main character is named Emily/Emilie, my only assumption is she based this partially in some way off herself, I did look up photos of her while listening and saw a physical resemblance, it was interesting to have her read the book as well, it felt more alive in a way many audiobooks haven’t for me. Plus there are a few musical numbers in it that made me giggle but then was struck with how deadly serious it was, which was a welcomed humbling. <3

My elementary school graduation happened the year I Gotta Feelin released so they spent the school year taking photos of us and at the end of the year they made a huge slideshow of things we did through out the year to the song and I was a huge baby bitch about it. I was 10 crying about how I’d never see these kids again, my parents were divorcing and this was the last time I’d see everyone and I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone I was moving until my parents divorce was finalized so no one knew what I was going through hearing I Gotta Feeling playing full volume while sitting on the floor of my gym with my entire ENTIRE elementary school watching this 2 hour long slideshow of fun shit we did for the year.
