Ugly Betty S02E17 | The Kids Are Alright
spitsacid:
· ❛ the fuck are y— ❜ though he sees an opportunity in this. better than spending his own cash that he really needed for recreational use. brow cocked at the girl as he studied her. thick glasses and braces, questionable clothing choices; she looked just like the kids he’d pressure into doing drugs in high school for the hell of it. arms fold across his chest as six foot tall figure peers down at her, ·❛ .. why? y’gonna get me a new one or something? i was really lookin’ forward to eatin’ it. uh poppyseed, right? ❜
her nose crinkles in response to being sworn at, and a hand defensively pushes up her glasses with a frown. “yes. because that way i never technically stole anything. i just BORROWED it. i’m sorry, i was in a rush, and my boss wanted a bagel so i kind of needed yours. poppyseed, exactly,” she confirms with a nod. of course, the likelihood of her actually finding the person she stole borrowed the bagel from was highly unlikely, and betty hoped that buying someone a bagel would restore some karmic balance... which is exactly why she doesn’t correct him --- it had been an onion bagel.
( sc. @avcntgarde )
“you know, for what it’s worth, that’s the nicest thing wilhelmina’s said to anyone all week.” which wasn’t saying much. it’s been one of those weeks where the whole office is safer hiding under their desks.
( sc. @spitsacid )
“this is going to sound like a weird question,” not that has ever stopped her before, “but did i steal your BAGEL last week?”
( sc. @hangdogbanner )
“oh n- OH MY G-” suave as always, betty pushes up her glasses and pinches the bridge of her nose before making any sort of effort to get up.
hit the heart for some betty love !!
fuckingthiscat:
WELL THAT’S warmed her icy heart ( not that it was really all too icy to begin with. ) “seriously? that’s a DICK move. who told you that?”
“just a couple of people who work at here. though on the plus side - i guess this means i win the contest!” she paused, “the wings aren’t detachable. so i’m just going with it. i’m a BUTTERFLY today.”
hit the heart for some betty love !!
— so much beauty in the world.
People change. They grow [x]
fuckingthiscat:
“WELL, I don’t app-” good god. she’s arguing with a butterfly. “i’m sorry, you know what you’re wearing, right?”
“i am aware, yes.” head high, suarez. “i was told there was a costume contest. apparently there was not.” though that still doesn’t explain why she hasn’t just... taken the wings off.
fuckingthiscat:
“REMEMBER when i told you that when you TALK it makes people sad?”
was that… too mean? ( @mcdegirl· - HB2 starters )
“well you know what? that’s just mean. and i don’t appreciate your tone.”
do the wings undercut her authority. perhaps.
impromptusongs
‟ um , ” he says , grimacing slightly in sympathy as he takes the coffees from the man at the cart before handing one to betty . ‟ well that’s a whole can of worms , we don’t have enough time for me to say e v e r y t h i n g wrong with ohio … but i don’t think your blouse is anything like ohio . i like it . ”
"i like it too! sometimes i think people forget that’s important.” she shrugs, accepting the coffee in her free hand as fingers pluck at the hem of said garish blouse. “that’s the thing about fashion, it’s just people telling you what you SHOULD like. and for the record, i like ohio. did you know that ohio had the first traffic light in america? that’s cool.”
