lunaxwinters:
She couldn’t help but to blush softly at the compliment that she was receiving from the other. “Honestly, I am glad to hear that. Sometimes I think I’m not working hard enough but when I hear someone else complimenting me on my hard work then it makes me realize that I actually am doing the best I can.” She smiled over at her as she shook her head softly. “Oh gosh no. I am not writing a book here. Well I guess it’s kind of a book. I’m working on a business plan for my little own bistro style restaurant. I want to do something quaint and small but like that still offers a wide variety of things.” She mentioned to the other female as she fully turned her attention towards her. Luna’s work could definitely wait some since she always worked on it.
“A bistro?” she asked, curious - she was a decent enough cook, thanks to her mother teaching her everything she knew, but there was still a lot Madison couldn’t even pretend to manage. Her chili was her specialty, but lately her sister had been debating going vegetarian, which meant even that was out the window when it got colder. “Are you thinking about one kind of food, like a French or Italian bistro, or an eclectic one with a little bit of everything?” She leaned closer to the other, trying to parse through the business jargon enough to capture what the other was thinking. “Granted, I don’t know anything about anything - so take this with a grain of salt - but I think a specialty restaurant might go further, especially in a place like this. I know I’d kill for real Japanese food but that’s almost impossible to find around here.”
zoeyburnss:
Zoey leaned against the machine, scrolling mindlessly through her instagram feed. All she saw were girls prettier than her and men dumber but somehow more successful than her. She probably should be watching people load their clothes into machines, but how boring was that? On the floor she noticed a glimmer of a quarter and bent down to pick it up. One of the perks of the job was that people were always dropping quarters and she considered them tips for her excellent service. As she faced the machine she heard a voice next to her.
“Oh, yeah, I was just…fixing that.” she said, smiling back. She pocketed the quarter and her phone, standing up a little taller. “I’m the attendant so, uh, thanks for alerting me. I’ll get right on it.” Truthfully she had no idea how to fix it, or who to call. Her training could be called minimal at best. “Sorry it ate your quarters. Wish I could get them back but” she pointed to the sign hanging that displaced all responsibility for lost quarters. “You’d be shocked by how much money losers, er, people waste separating their colors and whites. I never have.” she looked down at er white shirt tinged a bit pink. “Lots of loads you’ve got there. Would you consider yourself fashionable?” Zoey didn’t even know what she was saying, but she did know that she had no friends here and was itching for any kind of conversation.
Madison felt herself blush; she hadn’t meant to call out the attendant or anything - the quarters weren’t anything she was too worried about, after all - but she was grateful the other didn’t seem upset about her comment. The last thing she needed was some sort of enemy - even in the form of a pretty laundry attendant. Or maybe especially in that form.
“Not particularly,” she shrugged, throwing her detergent pods into the washer as she started it up. “I’m a cheer coach, so I live in athletic wear most of the time. But my sister’s a sophomore in high school, and if she doesn’t have the best clothes, it’s social suicide apparently - I think she changes like, seventeen times a day.” She could remember her parents complaining about her older sister doing that, but Madison just lived in jeans or yoga pants and her cheer gear. She was surprisingly low maintenance. “I’d ask her to do the laundry but, I’m genuinely afraid she’d claim the entire place had burned down and the only answer was an entirely new wardrobe.” She smiled softly, pushing the basket in front of the washing machine so she could go back to the ( uncomfortable ) plastic chairs to wait for the move to the dryers. “I’m Madison, by the way. And I’m not super stressed about the quarters - I stole ‘em from the coach I work with anyways.”

@mcdfoley
Being so close to the end of this business plan was killing Luna. She felt like it was so close to fully achieving her dream and this was only the first in many steps to actually getting to her dream. But she could only imagine that she’s be here in this moment. She was picking up extra shifts at the coffee shop and she took every break she had to work on business. She sat down at one of the tables and pulled her laptop out. Fifteen minutes didn’t sound like a lot of people for a break but it was ample time for her to get something accomplished. She opened it up and she was working fast as she typed away, her nails clacking against the keys as she was filling more and more of the page on her word document. She thought to herself as she tapped her nails on the table and then she happened to notice someone next to her and she laughed softly. “Oh my gosh, sorry about that dude, sometimes I just get going and I don’t realize if I’m being annoying.”
Madison had been coming to the coffee shop long enough to know not to bother Luna when she was on her breaks - she still didn’t know what the other was working on, but the look of determination on her face when she whipped out the laptop was something she envied. Madison had never had much ambition for a job - getting a gig as a cheer coach was just a coincidence. In ten years, she’d probably have to choose something else to do. “You’re not annoying,” Madison promised, digging her nail into the cup she’d gotten from the other only twenty minutes before. “You’re impressive, really. I don’t think I could type that fast if my life depended on it. If you’re writing a novel, your editor must be pleased with how quick you can get them pages.”
open @heartsdalestarters / at sonny’s laundrymat
it was beyond time to get a new washing machine, madison mused to herself silently as she put yet another load into one of the oversized machines at the laundrymat. this was becoming a habit - spending what little free time she had in the quiet, the only real company the sound of humming machines turning around people’s clothing. she should be making her sister take responsibility of it - but somehow, she didn’t trust the teenager to actually keep an eye on their belongings.
“that machine is broken,” she said aloud to the person she saw going up to the one she’d tried when she first arrived over an hour ago. “i don’t know if the attendant knows yet, but it ate all my quarters and never turned on.” she offered them a small smile, “you’re better off using one of the bigger ones anyways. does anyone really separate their whites and colors anymore?”

STATUS » open ( feel free to assume connections ! ) LOCATION » peppervine eatery
The night was relatively young and the eatery was surprisingly busy for the time of night. And despite not being scheduled on, Scout still found herself hanging around her workplace like she had nothing better to do. She didn’t, in fact — but that besides the point. Her daughter was at a sleepover and the house felt too empty. The silence of it overwhelming to the point of needing to escape. She was not in her usual place behind the chef’s counter but instead, perched on a stool at the bar enjoying a glass of red wine a little too much.
Her fingers traced around the rim of the nearly empty glass until she felt someone move near her towards the bar, pulling her back from her reverie. “You’re welcome to sit there,” she said without thinking, assuming they wanted the chair next to her. “It’s not taken.”
Some nights, all Madison wanted was a break. Trying to navigate her own twenties while taking care of a teenager was exhausting, terrifying, and while she knew she should have let Logan go off on her date on her own, her fear that her sister would wind up murdered on the side of the road had her heading to the same restaurant and looking for a space at the bar to keep an eye on them. If her sister protested, she’d simply say she was hungry herself - but the truth was, all she wanted was a drink. A stiff one, preferably.
“Thanks,” she said quietly, “it’s got the best view of the floor over here.” Sure enough, there was her sister and some kid that Madison would have called a dweeb back in her day. “My little sister is on her first date, and I didn’t get a chance to really check the kid out before I said they could go out, so I’m making sure he isn’t some psycho. Which, in turn, makes me look like a psycho.” She wasn’t usually one to ramble, but she was nervous - both for her sister, and this new chapter they were embarking on, but also because the woman she’d ended up next to was way too gorgeous for her not to be a little flustered. “I’m Madison. I’ll be quiet so you can actually enjoy your night, though. Promise.”

↬ melissa foley ☄ _______________________________
growing up, melissa and madison were near inseperable - despite the four year age gap between them, madison trailed after her sister everywhere, idolizing her in every aspect. her sister was everything she wasn’t - loud, brash, and willing to take what she wanted. after a fight with their parents, melissa disappeared - leaving the foley family behind in order to pursue her own interests and life outside of what their father wanted from her. madison, just about to start high school, missed her terribly - no longer would melissa sneak in and out of her window, crashing on her bed smelling of sweet smoke and alcohol, whispering about all the bad deeds she did in the dark and telling her magical tales of what being a teenager was like. instead, she was left to face her teenage years on her own - with no way of knowing where, or what, her sister was up to. it’s been almost twelve years since the foley’s have been together - logan doesn’t even know who melissa is, really - but madison’s never given up hope that she’d find her sister one day. the only thing keeping her from reaching out first is her own fear - fear that melissa didn’t just leave their parents, but madison, too, and that she still wants nothing to do with her.
melissa foley is open for connections with any half japanesse faceclaim who can fit the age of 29.
