Fandom hates on her for being Derek's love interest and reads her actions in bad faith and as if she is evil. There is an extra layer of antiblackness and misogynoir as she is a black woman.

Branden has a super cool werewolf scar on her throat and drives a badass motorcycle. She is playfully mean to Derek and is unafraid of Peter. She helps out Scott and his pack a lot even though she claims to be a mercenary who doesn't care about them either way.
