smiling, she grabbed marina’s hand and walked into the kitchen only letting go of the other only when it was strictly necessary. “i’m glad you came here. you know the door’s always open for you, right?” she asked handing one of the cups she had filled with the tea she had just made to marina while she brought the other one to her own lips. “shall we go to my room?” she tilted her head waiting for an answer as she gently tapped her nails against her cup. 

marina let the girl take her hand, following her to the kitchen and waiting as she made them tea. “ i know. ” she nodded, taking her cup from the other, and taking a small sip, feeling a little better already. “ yeah, ” she let out quietly, allowing the girl to lead the way to her room.

adriana smiled and nodded at marina’s words really glad that they had accepted to help her. “it’s okay, you really just have to stay still.” she sat down on the sofa and put her sketchpad on her lap, teeth gently nipping on her lower lip as she thought of a position marina could pose in. “try to feel comfortable, relax and find a position you like. also, could you turn your head a little to the side and, maybe, pretend you’re looking at something you really admire?”

marina just nodded slightly, watching the girl as she settled on the couch in front of her. she could feel her cheeks heating up a bit as adriana looked at her, listening to her instructions and nodding some more. she tried to find a position she was comfortable in, then she turned her head to the side a bit attempting to do what adriana asked from her. “ is this okay ? ”

Stepping over to the side as the woman behind the counter began to scoop up their choice of flavours he looked over at the brunette giving her his undivided attention.  “shit,” he muttered with a furrow of his brows,  “well how about we make this afternoon good so at least the whole day wasn’t shit,” he proposed as he took the cups and handed over her vanilla scoops over to her.  “What is something you like to do around here?”

marina was quite surprised by his suggestion, admittedly, not so used to people wanting to spend too much time around her. she took the cup of vanilla ice cream with a soft nod. “ um, that would be nice. ” she mumbled, smiling a bit. at his next question, she let out a dry laugh. “ i don’t know.. you’re going to think i’m lame, but getting this ice cream is probably the most exciting thing i’ve done in a while, i guess. when i’m off work i kind of like staying at home, i don’t know. ”

Gavin was trying to make light of the situation at hand. It was his first night in the complex and there was no power. At least he got everything from his car into his suite before the clouds really rolled in. “Bright side to everything,” he kept thinking to himself on a loop. The trip to Portland wasn’t the easiest, motels, hotels and truck stops for days. At least he got a lot of writing in along the way.

Normally Gavin would close himself off to his room and just bundle up in his duvet hiding from the thunder. But for some reason he just felt that the main building was the place he needed to be in. Maybe getting the social aspect done sooner would help make him feel more grounded.

marina was just pacing around the space as her eyes fell on a new face. she had her arms crossed, and she stopped pacing as the other walked closer. that’s when she decided to speak up, “ haven’t seen you around here before. i’m marina. ”

“i know this is going to sound silly and maybe even a bit childish, but i was wondering if you’d be up to play a game with me?” amelia needed something to get her mind off this storm, anything to distract her from the bright lightening and loud thunder. she made her way to the office, her pup in tow because she’d be damned if she’d leave her beloved peaches in her apartment all by herself. thankfully she was a pretty tamed pup and ended up falling asleep beside her on the couch in the main office. “it can be, like, a board game or a card game? i just kind of need the distraction…” 

marina walked over to amelia, reaching out to pet the sleeping pup’s head gently, their eyebrow raising at the other’s suggestion. they shrugged softly. “ sure. i wouldn’t mind a distraction too. ” they said, nodding a bit, and offering a small smile.

He nodded his head as he turned to face her, walking backwards to the counter.  “So vanilla it is then?” he confirmed with the pretty brunette before turning himself around to the person behind the til swiftly.  Daxton ordering their two choices before tapping his card to pay for the both without second thought.  “So what were you doing today then before, well, ya’know, you got locked out of your house?”

marina smiled a bit, nodding at him. “ yes, thank you. ” she said, then walked closer to stand next to the male. she watched him as he paid for them both. “ uh.. well, i was working. then i came home and found out i was locked out of my house. ”

it had been a day or relaxation and pampering for kat. she had decided to treat herself because she knew how had she had been working the past few months and wanted to do something for herself for once. the redhead had been walking along a decently busy street with small shops lining her path when her eye caught a pair of sunglasses. immediately she rushed over and slipped them on, observing herself in the mirror before turning to the nearest person to speak. “what do you think? too much or just enough obnoxiousness to make them okay?”

marina raised an eyebrow slightly as the stranger suddenly spoke to them. “ uh .. ” they let out, observing the girl’s features. “ i don’t think they’re obnoxious. you look pretty, they look good on you. ” they said with a nod.

just under her breath alison mumbled with her lips caught between her teeth as her eyes scanned the email from the school. her words were indistinguishable, if they were even really words. so lost in her own little world she hadn’t even realized she had bumped into someone, instantly causing words to almost spill totally from her mouth, “oh my goodness, i’m so sorry, i know i really should be paying more attention, but gosh my head was just out of here,”

marina was on her way back to her apartment when she felt someone bumping into her. she let out a slight groan, raising her eyebrows as she looked over at the girl. “ um, it’s okay.. i wasn’t really looking either. ” she mumbled, shrugging softly. “ is everything okay, though ? ”

Not once, not slightly, did his smile fade. He was naturally a smiley guy that was evident but she seemed shy or at least a little guarded and all he wanted was for her to feel comfortable in his presence.  “just vanilla?” he teased,  “c’mon I know you’re more exciting than that,” his words were playful as he followed her into the store.  “I’m more of a cookies and cream kinda guy.”

marina couldn’t help the small smile on her face, noticing the one on the male’s features. she let out a slight chuckle. “ yeah, i love vanilla. it’s the best ice cream flavor, for sure. ” she said, walking into the store. “ cookies and cream is pretty good, too, i admit. ”

adriana frowned slowly nodding to her words. “no no, it’s alright, you could never disturb me.” she softly pulled the other in a hug wrapping her arms around her neck as she just held her, trying to give her the comfort she needed. “do you want something to drink? i could make you a tea if you’d like.” she pulled away but still kept her hands on her shoulders as if she didn’t completely want to break the contact.

marina was relieved at the girl’s words, letting her pull her into a hug. she closed her eyes, wrapping her own arms around the other. “ uh, yeah, thank you. that’d be nice. ” she nodded slightly as the girl pulled away from the hug. she was so grateful for adriana, glad that she didn’t have to be alone at home.

“okay, thanks!” she said quickly getting up and walking to the other side of the room as she searched for everything she needed. “so, tomorrow i have to hand in the sketch of a portrait and i really need a model. so um, if you don’t mind, cloud you please pose for me? i swear it won’t take long.” she said once she was again in front of marina, hands holding her sketch pad and all the necessary she needed to draw. even though the two were pretty close, asking them to pose for her still made her cheeks turn a bright shade of pink. 

marina watched the girl getting up to walk to the other side of the room and get the stuff she needed, still wondering what the girl could possibly need her help with. her eyebrows raised a bit at her words, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “ uh, i don’t, um.. ” she began, then saw the red on the other’s cheeks, and she shrugged a bit. “ i mean, if you want.. i’m not sure i’d be good at that, but i want to help. ”

a frustrated sigh left her lips as the brunette put the dirty paintbrush down, eyes scanning the landscape she had just finished with a half-satisfied smile. the room was a complete mess, there were pages of her notebook spread all around the room, canvas full of paintings and graffiti set randomly on the table, piles of photos occupying the sofa and her guitar placed on the couch. that was just how it worked, every time adriana felt inspired she began jumping from one thing to another, sometimes she even did two things at the same time, not really caring of the mess she made. her eyebrows raised in surprise when she heard someone knocking on the door and, placing everything she held on the table, she went to open it even if she was wearing nothing but a pair of underwear and a baggy shirt. “marina?” she muttered even more surprised than before. “are you alright?” adriana stepped aside and gestured for her friend to come in, eyes worriedly scanning her figure.

marina was surprised to see the girl in nothing but a pair of underwear annd a baggy shirt, but then again, not really surprised, because she did knock on her door in middle of the night. “ hi. ” she mumbled, her voice quiet, glad to see the girl gesturing for her to come in, and walking inside. she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. she nodded a bit. “ yeah - i, i hope i’m not disturbing you, i know it’s late.. i just came back from a client - i don’t want to be alone. ” she rambled quietly. she didn’t know if she felt like talking, she just wanted to be with adriana. she could tell that the girl was working on something, looking around the messy apartment, but she still hoped she could stay. she avoided meeting her eyes, even when she spoke, can’t help but feel ashamed, even though her friend knew about her job.

it was late, and marina found herself walking back home from a client’s apartment, which wasn’t anything unusual. it was cold, and her steps were quick. normally she’d want to be alone, and just go straight home, take a long shower, and get in bed. she couldn’t tell what was different about that night, she had the exact same heavy feeling of emptiness in her chest, yet for some reason, as she walked into the building, her legs led her to adriana’s apartment instead of her own empty one. it was late, and she didn’t know what she expected, as she knocked the door, but she really wanted to be let in.

amelia nodded at the girls request, “you’re very welcome.” soon starting up on the hot chocolate, it wouldn’t take long to make two cups but the blonde soon spoke up once more, “you’re more than welcome to sit on the couch if you’d like, it’ll only take a minute. by the way, you and i need to hang out sometime soon! y’know, go to the movies, or something, if you’d be up for that?” 

marina nodded a bit, giving the pup a last pet, before standing up and walking over to the couch to sit down. “ oh, um, sure. of course, i’d love that. ” she nodded, looking over at the girl in the kitchen.

adriana smiled when she felt the other’s arms around her neck, and, immediately hugging her back, she wrapped her owns around their midsection, chin gently laying on top of their shoulder. “i’m really glad i have you too.” she softly replied. if it depended on her, she would have perfectly stayed like that for the rest of her life, but she knew that that wasn’t possible and, after a little, she reluctantly pulled away. “so, do you know when samira’ll be back? because i could totally use your help with something. i mean, if you want to.” 

marina felt somewhat safe in adriana’s arms. it felt nice, because she knew that adriana truly cared about her. she let the girl pull away, meeting her eyes as she did. “ i’m not sure. ” she admitted, then raised her eyebrows a bit at adriana’s words. “ yeah, of course, whatever you need. i have a few hours before i have to go to work, so i can help. ”

He shook his head, it wasn’t like he was saving her life- it was just ice-cream.  “Marina,” repeated the lad so her name stained his memory.  “Shut up,” he laughed shaking his head fondly.  “So what flavour girl are you?”

marina nodded slightly as he repeated her name. she smiled at his response to her teasing. “ um.. ” she thought for a moment. “ i like vanilla. ” she then replied simply. “ what about you ? ” she questioned, as they reached their destination. “ here it is. ” she said, as the ice cream place came to sight.

river stopped just before her, hands shoved into the pockets of her light jacket. a small sympathetic smile crawls onto her lips as she shakes her head. “in my apartment yeah, I have a ton of lights.” she jokes, a poor attempt at cheering marina up. “but no, I don’t. I’m sorry….but, you know you can head in with me and we can call someone and wait.” the brunette suggests, gently tapping her foot against the other’s twice. “or if you’re really desperate to get inside we can attempt a grand break in.”

marina just offered a half smile as the other joked, before sighing and putting the cigarette back in the pack. “ it’s okay. thanks anyway. ” she said with a soft shrug. “ i called my roommate, but it’ll take her a while to get here. better not try to break in.. it’s okay, i can wait for her out here. ”
