to steve nothing had ever felt as right as the thought of proposing to catherine, to make her his wife.

he knows it took him some time to admit his feelings and to accept them but once it happened there was no way back. and he knows everyone said it was about damn time and it’s true but it also feels like the perfect moment for them. it just makes sense.

but when catherine left it wasn’t just his heart that broke, it was the dreams that he finally let himself think about that disappeared too. and it hurt, badly. and the ring box felt so heavy in his pocket.

but he also knows that no matter what he told her, about not waiting for her, that it wasn’t true. that he couldn’t help himself and that there would always be some part of him waiting for her. because nobody made him feel the way she did and he could never possibly love anyone else that much.

i just absolutely cannot deal with how in love steven j. mcgarrett is and how okay he is with it. he knows cath is the love of his life, the best thing that ever happened to him and people say he’s the best version of himself when she’s around. he wanted to propose to her and he didn’t freak out about it because it’s so natural for them to move in that direction. it’s simple and quiet and them and it’s beautiful.

i’m right here, you’re not gonna do this alone. / you didn’t think i was gonna let you go alone, did you?

there’s no hesitation, it’s just a statement that yes he’s going to be right there by her side, no matter what, until the end of time.
