so i have a few thoughts on "that's not how boundaries work" and "you can't just tell fans they're not allowed to ship anymore".

i am aware, and i do agree, that boundaries generally shouldn't look like "you're not allowed to do this". they should look like "if you keep doing this, i will [remove myself from the situation / other consequence you will draw.]"

but sadly, when it comes to creators setting boundaries with their fans, it isn't that easy. because removing themself from the situation, for a creator, would in this case mean stopping content creation.

and while "what about just having blocked tags" is a good argument in theory - i'm 99% sure that in his explanation, Pyro said it wasn't just seeing the shipping content that was the issue, but also simply knowing it exists and that a significant part of the fandom is engaging in it.

like... both Pyro and Maddy have said that they're well aware of how much they're taking away from people, and that they didn't take this decision lightly at all. Maddy quite literally had to do this for her mental health (pleaseee go read her post if you haven't).

now, do i personally understand why someone would be a nervous wreck (as Maddy has phrased it herself) just because they're aware people are creating shipping content of their or their partner's characters? can i relate to it? no. but i do believe there are factors here, like personal sensitivities and character bleed in rp, that i couldn't possibly relate to, but that are in fact significant. and, more importantly: i think that anyone's feelings - and mental health!! - should be respected and taken seriously regardless of whether they're "reasonable".

so, again: sure, phrasing a boundary as "you can't do this anymore" seems harsh, maybe even wrong. but it is simply a rephrasing of "if the fandom keeps creating this shipping content, then Maddy will have to remove herself from content creation (or at least from rp and all related spaces)".

and if at the end of the day, you care so much about your yaoi that you don't care about the personal and professional consequences this will have for a content creator, then... have fun with that, i guess.

Last time I'll be talking about this on Tumblr but a few things.

1: Again PLEASE for all that is holy Respect Pyro & Maddy Boundaries, and stop using this as an excuse to harass people, we are a COMMUNITY so can we Kindly act like it.

2: On that topic of harassment, instead of pointing fingers of who's to blame, how about we blame the Actual People sending the harassment for their own actions! If you see this, Block and Ignore them, and be sure to Report them if they are breaking any rules, Harassment is NEVER okay.

3: A&M situation is NOT the same as Pyro & Maddy simply sharing their boundaries. A&M Manipulated, Lied, and tried to Hurt people, they DID hurt people with said Lies and Manipulation. So to compare THAT to Pyro & Maddy simply not wanting their characters to be shipped is just Wrong on so many levels.

4: Before you say it, YES i know what Pyro said in his Stream, and while it was poorly said and i do agree he should clarify to calm down the misunderstanding, he isn't sending anyone out to harass you, him and Maddy made it perfectly clear that harassment was NOT okay.

5: "But this space is for Fans not CCs" Yeah no that's not an excuse either. Just because they are Content Creators don't mean they aren't people anymore, or that they aren't allowed to be in their own communities! The community wouldn't even exist without them making stuff for y'all to enjoy in the first place.

6: No Pyro & Maddy Don't have to just be "okay" with their boundaries being broken behind their backs or a dni tag (whatever that is) Those are THEIR characters not ours, THEY get to choose what they are and aren't okay with.

7: I know someone will say it so before you do "But the community adopted Avids characters and still do what they want" Avid LEFT, he Abandoned his characters, and the community decided to adopt them so that the Characters wouldn't be Punished for A&M actions. Pyro & Maddy are very much still here, and not extremely problematic people, so no i don't want to hear that excuse either.

8: and finally (assuming i haven't forgot anything) you DON'T have to give up your favorite Duo's, i personally Love Lumberjack from VampiresSMP and I'm not abandoning that, I'm just not Shipping them romantically, FRIENDSHIPS exist and can be just as fun to Draw/Write about as any romantic ship can be. If you choose to abandon your favorite Duos that is on you not them.

And with that i will no longer be adding my 2 cents to all this nonsense anymore, i do deeply apologize if any of that came off as rude or disrespectful, but it is getting frustrating seeing people act in such disrespectful manners over not being allowed to ship two block characters anymore, y'all didn't even get this mad over the A&M situation and that was FAR worse then this! Hell Twitter is acting more respectful and kind about all this, TWITTER the place KNOWN for taking an inch and running a mile with everything. Again my apologies if this is sounding rude or more of a rant, but PLEASE please people of Tumbler just try to be nice, No more petty harassment, i promise y'all everything will be okay 💕

My opinion on the situation

Im also gonna add on as ive seen more stuff that was talked abt on pyros stream.

Now I personally haven't watched the vod and ill be real, probably won't but based on what ive seen pyro has asked his viewers to basically harass people who make ship fanart. (pls correct me if im wrong) Ik in the photo above I said we should correct people on their mistakes, but when i say that, I mean leave a polite little comment mentioning the boundary and maybe ask for proper tags if not in place. Obviously the person shouldn't be making the fanart in the first place it goes against the boundary but what if they didn't know, what if they forgot. We shouldn't harass people for a mistake and if it wasn't a mistake then they are not apart of the fandom.

My stance here is yes, people should stop making ship art/posts of pyro and maddie and their characters. It doesn't matter the reason. That is the boundary and you as a fandom need to respect that. Don't try to hide behind a tag wall, that is still overstepping the boundary, you just now trying to hide the fact you know and are purposefully overstepping. It doesn't matter who the person is, what the person did, we cant overstep boundaries. That is that.

As legundo said, if you do so, get the fuck out, the door is right there so walk through it and get the fuck out.

What pyro said abt harassing people i go against personally I seen smth i think abt sending the post to pyro?? Which is like (if its true) then what the fuck? No dont do that. Either dont give it traction (like reblog comment) or leave a polite msg saying "Hey, this is against the boundary. Do with that as you will." If they respond leave it, you did your job now go home. Like i said dont give it traction.

As someone who has had boundaries overstepped one to many times this topic is important to me and I belive everyone has the right to setting boundaries and no one, has the right to overstep them. We as fans have no authority over telling ccs abt their boundaries whether its to change it, remove it or keep it. That is up to the cc to decide and they're gown adults, not children.

The fact that we are even arguing over this fucking baffles me. It also makes me realise how immature some of you all are and im a minor.

Grow up people.

Hello, very active pyrat, former majorscythe discord mod here!

I need everyone who is not an active pyrat to sit down, shut the fuck up and stop having an opinion. I need everyone who hasnt watched pyros stream about the situation to stop having an opinion.

It is so clear to me that yall have no idea what pyroscythe is actually like and are choosing the most poor taste reading of things taken out of context and blown out of proportion on purpose just to have something to fight about.

If you've been in pyros community you should know he is so lovely and has genuinely been so fucking supportive of all the artists in his community, including the ship ones, from day one. Me and my majorscyther friends have never felt any discomfort in how pyro interacts with us regarding our shipping. The only reason he is implementing this is for his girlfriends comfort.

There are some really lovely wonderful people in his community that he cares about who are genuinely struggling. Not with the boundary itself but with the loss of something that has had a great and wonderful impact on all our lives.

And in the middle of trying to grieve we have been faced with nothing but self righteous people on twitter who dont know what they're talking about but think they're superior for never having shipped, and also the most entitled people on here who think that what someone else doesnt consent to is a personal attack, who think that the rules dont apply to them because they dont see content creators as people.

The last couple days have been hard enough without people who genuinely dont actually know what or who they're talking about leaning in and thinking that they have to have an opinion on anything that happens. Its fucking exhausting.
