“Shadow and light are the most stable and perfect tools of creation: they unite colors, shapes, and dimensions,” says Moldovan artist Sergiu Ciochină, adding that “shadows move us through diversity, enhancing our perception, while light fills us with the joy of discovery.” In saturated hues, he captures dappled sunlight as it filters through the trees and the rich tones of the golden hour as it casts deep bluish-purple shade onto the sides of houses.
Taking cues from the Impressionists, Ciochină focuses on the nuances of light and its ability to reveal outlines and forms. He works in thick, impasto oil paint on board, emphasizing the shapes of windows, doors, and stoops and transforming otherwise ordinary buildings into compositions glowing with the patterns of foliage, architectural angles, and the texture of brushstrokes. “The symbiosis I create between nature and architecture is intended to evoke a love for space,” he says.

Sam, on June 1st: happy pride month, you guys
Dean, surfacing from Cas’s mouth: what’s that
Cas, frowning: pride is one of the seven deadly sins, Sam. I was under the impression that you were aware of this.

April 6th, 2026 - Christina Koch, Victor Glover, Jeremy Hansen, and Reid Wiseman become the first human beings to travel farther than 248,655 miles from Earth, breaking the record previously held by the Apollo 13 crew.

Day 1: Liminal
We all know for Rocky and Grace to touch directly is an 'inevitable catastrophic injury' situation, and the atmospheres and pressures involved have a lot to do with it, but I think the temperature ranges are a bit too poetic not to talk about it more.
Let's say the exterior of Rocky's carapace stays close to 210°C/410°F like his ambient atmosphere/ACS. (Really, I think it'd stay a bit warmer outside of mid-sleep cycle especially around where he 'breathes' due to the 305°C/581°F HCS.) Either way, when Book!Grace touched him it'd be very similar to laying your palm on a pizza stone in a conventional home oven (don't) and for Movie!Rocky to grip him hard enough to drag of course made a deep burn.
Since leaky space blobs are typically 37°C/98.6°F, the temperature difference between skin and carapace is around 173°C/311.4°F. So, when we say Grace is 'icy' in comparison to Eridians, we're just not being nearly dramatic enough. (Ice is only 37°C/66.6°F colder than skin.)
Dry ice (-78.5°C/-109.3°F) gets us closer, with a difference of 115.5°C/207.9°F compared to human flesh, but we're still not quite there. Liquid Nitrogen (−196°C/−321°F) takes us past the skin-to-carapace difference range, with a difference of 233°C/419.6°F. While we're now past the contact difference range, the ambient temperature of the Hail Mary would be lower and closer to this analog.
For Rocky to touch Grace is analogous to a human touching something halfway between dry ice and liquid nitrogen. That's contact frostbite. It's a burn.
How desperate would you have to be and how much would you have to love someone to stick your hand into liquid nitrogen to save them?
