Down 600gms today...
Trialing a new plan...
Since coming back from my honeymoon (Thailand - the land of sugar)... I have gained 3kgs.. I was quite devistated at first especially considering that my body took so long to lose thr weight that I had. I began continuing my juices and eating relitively healthy. But that isn't enough to make enough of a difference..
I need to revolutionise my eating and thinking and my physical activity. .
I will be eating zero refined cabohydrates .. sugars etc. I will also be eatinf no processed foods or polyunsaturated fats. These all wreak havoc on your body.
I want to be able to have a healthy body. One that I am comfortable with and one that can one day eventually be a home thats suitable to have and grow a baby..
I have given myself 5 months to get back on track and boost my body ... its nutrients.. vitamins.. minerals etc...
So my sugar free ... preservative free.. all natural diet started yesterday..
Obviously youre going to have the odd exception here or there.. but its not going to be a regular occurrence.
I am going to reward myself for my efforts by buying myself a new workout out fit. . Or getting a massage.. or something similar every week or so.. you need to inspire yourself and push yourself to be the best you you can be .. better than you were the day before.
I think my struggle is definitely how much food to eat and when to eat it. I am going to eat every 2 or so hours and eat natural whole foods with vegetablea making up the majority of my food. . (At least 50%).
I aim to go to the gym and do some light weights when possible .. aiming at 3 days per week currently to build the muscle I have lost by having my thyroid medication.
Clean eating - Lunch
1 onion finely diced 1 chicken breast diced 1 red capsicum diced 1 green capsicum diced 1 carrot grated Salt and pepper Olive oil 1 tsp minced garlic 1 tsp minced ginger
Heat small amount of olive oil in large fry pan/skillet and fry onion and chicken until cooked through and lightly golden brown.
Add capsicum and carrot and cook until soft but still crunchy on the inside.
In a separate bowl whisk together eggs and garlic and ginger and pour in to pan. Mix through chicken and vegetable mixture until coated. And cooked.
Serve warm
Healthy raspberry ‘icecream’
1 cup of frozen berries of your choice 2 tablespoons of greek yoghurt
Blend all together in a food processor. More/less greek yoghurt can be added or subtracted to reach desired consistency.
Optional : add small amount of pure vanilla extract or honey for flavor :)
Enjoy your guilt free ice cream
Day 2
Still trying to get my body on track and remove anything that is unnatural from my body. . This is a process that I think will take between 2-3 days to feel any different.
Breakfast - omlette and freshly squeezed juice 500ml (orange, apple, watermelon, lemon and grapes)
Snack - watermelon and apple
Lunch - homemade tzatziki chicken with cucumber and carrot
Snack - banana
Dinner - bowl of steamed vegetables & 500ml juice
A New Challenge - 30 days!
I know it has been a while since I have posted.. and today I am embarking on a 30 day challenge. At the end of my 30 days is my Wedding Day and I want to make sure that I am feeling fantastic for my special day and for the beginning of summer!
Since I started experimenting with my diet, I have noticed things that I just should not have. . Being processed foods, foods with atificial flavours and preservatives, unnatural refined sugars, flour and rice and of course polyunsaturated fats ie canola oil. These all cause undue stress for your body and inhibits your body from reacting how it was made to. It causes unnecessary stressors on your dugestive system and causes a crazy imbalance that your body is just not made to handle.
This 30 day challenge will consist of natural eating.
I will consume the following each day:
Pre breakfast : Supplements and medication with a full glass of water
Breakfast: 500ml freshly squeezed juice With an omlette (2 eggs and dash of milk)
Snack: chicken (1/2 small chicken breast) with 1 cup vegetables/salad
Lunch: chicken (1/2 small chicken breast) with 2 cups vegetables/chicken with 2 tablespoons home made salad dressing (either greek yoghurt with lemon juice or balsamic vinegar)
Snack: Bowl of fruit ie grapes, an apple etc
Dinner: 500ml juice Bowl of steamed vegetables seasoned with salt and pepper
It seems as though there is a lot of food here, and there is, but every single item is hand made, unprocessed and completely natural. 50% of the food is vegetables as well as more than enoygh fruit in juice form. Id also like to add that protein is essential in keeping you fuller for longer so make sure you encorperate it to the majority of your meals.
You are what you eat and 80% of your diet will determine what you look like. The other 20% is exercise.
Being a person with a thyroid issue, it is important that you dont cause your body undue stress.. excessive exercise and high impact sports can cause this. So make sure you take care of that 80% food wise and listen to how your body reacts and what it needs with exercise. Im am in no way saying dont do exercise. I am saying be smart with what you do. Dont over exert yourself.. take it one day at a time.
In regards to my 30 day plan, I wont ve scheduling in exercise, but I do plan on doing some form of exercise 2-3 days per week to keep me active and I find that walking is quite a good way of releaving stressors of life.
My goals:
I want to lose 2-3kg
I want to feel fitter and more comfortable in my own skin
Free from digestive problems
Ensure my body is working properly to help my thyroid work and my medication be absorbed correctly
Day 1 begins now
Polyunsaturated fats cause the most damaging effects on your thyroid compared to any other food. They are responsible for a number of direct and secondary effects that suppress your thyroid.
Direct Effects of Polyunsaturated Fats on Your Thyroid Polyunsaturated fats block your thyroid from functioning on three different levels.
1. Polyunsaturated fats block the signal that tells your thyroid to secrete its thyroid hormones. So, right from the start, your thyroid won’t be releasing enough thyroid hormones to fully support your cells.
2. Polyunsaturated fats block the transportation of thyroid hormones in your bloodstream to your cells by tying up the transport proteins responsible for delivering these essential hormones.
3. Polyunsaturated fats block the responsiveness of your cells to the thyroid hormones that eventually make it to your cells. This makes your cells require even more thyroid hormones to produce the same amount of energy and maintain a healthy metabolism.
Update... its been a while
I know its been a little while since I updated my blog, & I am going to keep trying to note my progress.. I have been so busy with wedding plans and just last week got takeh by ambulance to the hospital with an asthma attack. So surprising considering I have never had asthma ever in my life.
Initially I planned on doing a 60 day juice fast to reboot my body and my health and give my body the helo and butrients that it needs to heal itseld and fuel itaelf and somehow fix my broken thyroud and elleviate some of the thyroud symptoms I have beem feeling.. I started juicing every meal for a few weeks and found tgst my body was exoeriencing some sugar highs from the fruit content of my juices. Im not sying that you shouldnt have fruit in your juices, but I am saying that the amount of fruit I was using was a lot and I was having no where near enough vegetables. I needed fo fix this problem so I begun eating raw salads throughout the day, I eat as much as I want to make myself feel full and satisfied. . I have been doing this for several weeks and have felt an incredible difference physically in my body, I have more energy, more stamina and have noticed physical changes in my body. Ut is as thoygh the fat is slowly melting off my body!
I find that I crave salad and vegetables anf if u dont have them, I need them!
I cannot tell you how great clean eating and listening to my body is making me feel.
I still have 1-2
My veg!
Day 14 -21/08
I need to record the date or I lose track! I have been feeling as though I am getting too much sugar from fruit and not enough vegetables.. So to compensate For my lack in vegetables my day consists of the following: First thing in the morning: Thyroid pills Vitamin D Iron (I reserve the first thing in the morning for medication and supplements so that my body accepts what it needs without having to digest any other items in my system) - with a BIG glass of water! Got to make sure those pills get all the way into my stomach to make sure they work properly! 1-2 hours after I wake up: 1 large juice (500-600ml) Usually consists of just fruit Between breakfast and morning tea I try and drink at least 600ml of water. Morning tea: a small salad! (Today my salad consisted of; Rocket, lettuce, spinach, beetroot, broccoli stalk, carrot, 1/8-1/4 of an avocado, red capsicum, cucumber) The amount of salad would be approximately 1 cup for morning tea. Between morning tea and lunch I want to make sure I have at least another 600ml bottle of water. Lunch: Very big salad! Approximately 3-4 cups. - Rocket, lettuce, spinach, beetroot, broccoli stalk, carrot, 1/4 of an avocado, red capsicum, cucumber. & for dressing, I squeezed 1/4 orange and added some balsamic vinegar for taste. (Remember that the dressing is what is bad and can add hundreds of calories without even realising it) Lunch to be accompanied by 600 ml water Afternoon snack : I tend to not have. Dinner: a large juice (500-600ml) Usually with some type of vegetable with fruit. Bed time: Magnesium with a glass of water. This way I am guaranteed to get all of the vegetables that I need.
Doctor results
I got my results back from my full blood tests. I have virtually no Vitamin D - which would explain why I have been tired and lethargic and achey. I also have rather low iron , so I'll continue taking my iron supplements with my juices.
Interesting juice! 1/2 sweet potato 1 pear 1 carrot 2 oranges Made about 600ml juice which was more than enough for dinner!
Day 7
800gram loss today 0 . 3%body fat loss.
However I am proving to be a bit dehydrated and need to up my water intake to something like 2litres as I’m supposed to.
Making sure you’re hydrated helps every single part of you! Your muscles, your concentration.. Everything!
Day 6
No loss again, but I am starting to feel great. My skin is glowing and has no breakouts .. And my favourite part of all, it is so easy for me to get to sleep and wake up in the morning. No insomnia or struggling to relax. It's as though my entire body clock is being reset and I'm ridding myself of whatever has been causing poor sleep. My guess is that my body is being freed from toxins and I'm now getting the nutrients that need to function at my best. I assume that I'm still yet to reach my best.. But I'm looking forward to getting there!
Remember that a one time slip up is not reason to throw the whole plan away! Stay motivated ... Keep your eyes on the goal!
