Was thinking about Nemik’s manifesto earlier and how spot on he was describing the tyranny of the Empire and how to resist it, keeping your hopes alive.
“There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. I know this already. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy.
Remember this: freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction.
Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly throughout the galaxy. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they’ve already enlisted in the cause.
Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere.
And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.
And remember this: the Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.
And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire’s authority — and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege.
The Rebellion is not dependent on any one person. It relies on the collective efforts of all the people in the galaxy. It grows as the Empire overextends and cracks down on the dissidents of their unpopular policies. Rebellion to the Empire’s cancer is inevitable as the Empire does not negotiate with those it takes from. If you do not give it what it wants, be it resources or manpower, it will summarily force you to yield your property.
This is what gives rebels the hope they rely on. Just as you feel the pain of a tyrannical government, others feel it too. And it is only a matter of time before that bubble bursts and the flood of angry workers overwhelms the Empire’s minions and the elite that command them.
The free will you have, which is to *try,* is the biggest obstacle the Empire has in its pursuit of domination over the people of the galaxy. Just refusing to comply completely, no matter how little that resistance offers, is something the Empire has to overcome before trying to dominate another person. You matter, and the Empire depends on you feeling like you don’t.
