Hair is on point today!
everyrepcounts yes! It's blue! I needed cool mom hair, if such a thing exists. :)
My baby turned 6 months old this week and it feels like time has just flown by. When I was pregnant I thought for sure it would only take 6 months or so to get back to my pre-baby weight. Well, that’s not how it worked out for me. I still have 15 pounds to lose and it seems like so much. I needed to look back to see how far I’ve come to keep from getting discouraged. In my head I still look the same as I did months ago, but now I can really see I am making progress. I’ve only been working out since February. So for 4 months of exercising this isn’t too bad. I can’t wait to see where I’m at by August!
Watching the live stream of the Atlantic CrossFit regional really makes me miss doing CrossFit. Maybe I'll go back some day...
Wonderful first Mother's Day with this nugget.
Yesterday was a very challenging day. Raven was sick and having an all around bad day, I was feeling shitty about all this baby weight I still want to lose and my workout sucked. But I decided that today was going to be better. Raven woke up earlier than normal to nurse so I figured since I was already up I'd get my workout in early. I'm so glad I did. I feel much better. I got in some heavy squats, single leg deadlifts and a little cardio. Leg day always puts me in a good mood!
The baby napped for a whole hour! I got to eat lunch and make chocolate banana muffins! Today is awesome!!
Starting the day off right with scrambled eggs, Sriracha and Trader Joe's Maple Chicken Sausage. I love breakfast. Now I need a giant coffee.
May Goals
April was a roller coaster. I started off strong with training and eating right but then I had my deload week and my meet. So my diet was all over the place and as soon as the meet was over I got sick. With all that going on I only lost 1.5lbs but I did way better at the meet than I ever could have expected and I’m so happy with that. This month I’m back to training hard and eating right.
Goals: 1. Plan out dinner for every night of the week - Every night we play the game of, “What do you want to eat?” and never come up with a healthy option. Planning in advance will keep me on track and keep us from annoying the shit out of each other.
2. Workout 4x per week - I’ve been good at hitting this goal every week and I want to keep it up.
3. Lose 4 pounds - Last month was a bust on my 4lb goal. I’m just glad I didn’t gain anything. If I lose 5 pounds I’ll be under 150lb! I want so badly to get back to my pre-baby weight of around 138-140lb but I know the last 10lbs are going to be the hardest. I can’t rush it. It will happen.
I can’t wait to try the mint chocolate chunk!
Since the meet is over I'm working on conditioning to get my endurance back up. Ugh, it sucks! I know it will get better but I feel so slow and out of breath. Today was light squats, light bench and a million push-ups. Fuck I'm tried. I better look hot after all this!
This weekend I competed in my very first powerlifting meet! It was such an awesome experience. I can’t wait to do another meet. It was so much fun meeting new people and seeing old friends. My next door neighbor was there competing too. It’s so funny we live right next to each other and I never knew she lifted.
My weight class was stacked with 12 amazing women. It opened my eyes to what I can accomplish if I keep my training going. I went 8/9 on my lifts and I hit a PR on all of them. I’m most proud of PR’ing my deadlift by 20lbs. My best deadlift before I was pregnant was 205lbs. With only 10 weeks of training I’ve added 60lbs to it. I never imagined I’d be hitting these numbers just 5 months after having my baby.
I even won a medal! I couldn’t believe it. I took 5th place in my weight class. I will definitely be competing again.
meghanwaslike Thank you!!! :) I needed a change and I thought I might as well make it crazy. I wasn’t sure how I was going to look with a shaved head but I think it came out awesome!
Just a trim… ;)
And I just spent $50 on X-Files stuff. Being an adult is fucking awesome! It was so much harder in the 90′s trying to convince my mom to let me use her credit card to buy X-Files stuff off of Ebay.
Beautiful Saturday to take Raven to her first pow wow.
Taking the babe for a walk around the park.
