mental illness is so embarassing i’ll literally be like I’m fully aware I’m mentally ill but it’s not mental illness this time. and then it was mental illness

““No, I’m not ok. But I haven’t been ok since I was 11, maybe 12. I am still here though. I’m still breathing. For me, sometimes, that will have to be enough””

todo dia é dia.
Maybe the reason why some people stay up late and can’t sleep is because if they fall asleep, then they’re immediately transported to another shitty day of the daily grind whereas staying awake on their phone in bed is the escape from that.

“A child imparts a doll or tin soldier with magical life-breath. The artist animates his work as the child his toys.”
— Just Kids, Patti Smith
Robert Mapplethorpe and Patti Smith photographed by Lloyd Ziff in their Brooklyn apartment, 1968.
Lloyd Ziff:
In 1968 Robert was living with Patti in a little apartment near mine in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. They were always working, making paintings and drawings and sculptures, and the walls of their apartment were covered with their work. They were both very young and I found them very beautiful. I asked to come over to their place one day to shoot portraits of them. They were among the first double portraits I shot. Patti published two of them in her book, Just Kids, in 2010, and credits them as the first portraits made of the two of them.
I am not well. I could have built the Pyramids with the effort it takes me to cling on to life and reason.
— Franz Kafka, Letters to Felice
“you can’t forget your mother tongue” okay but have you considered bilinguals and polyglots whose first language isn’t english and whose development during adolescence was shaped by consuming content and media only in english and have ever since viewed that second language, foreign to their own, as a better outlet for their emotions and thoughts? as Yiyun Li said “it is hard to feel in an adopted language, yet impossible in my native language.”

Decided to be honest today, even if only through a Tumblr post.
I yearn to be loved as deeply as Hozier describes his love in his songs.
