So lemme give you the low-down that I've noticed thus far. (Sorry, I didn't really take any pictures, so I'm just kinda... sharing my experience...)
Not gonna lie, I was lowkey worried this was gonna be a whole lot of the same as the DLC. And, to a certain extent, it is. However, the biggest difference is that we as the player don't know who is staying in these rooms. So we're just sort of given a theme and told "have at it". I think I did a decent job with the beach and Japanese theme.
From my understanding, you can just eternally make rooms. You can make two per day. However, if you want to make that dolla-dolla-bill (or ticket in this case) the money maker is in DIY.
(Sorry, no picture for this one.)
So, outside of the hotel, there is a stall-looking box. And you can either check with the box or check on the DIY app for what is in demand. You'll be told what items to make and how many. And we now have the option for mass crafting; both for DIY and cooking! Which is great, because a lot of the orders for smaller products, like food or hats, comes in multiples. After the first four, Kappin will give you some tickets for every couple ones (or three in my experience) additional items you bring over. And, at least from what I can tell, you can just spend the whole day crafting items and there's always something else that pops up in it's place. I've already got over 1k tickets from doing that. (But now I need to get regular wood...)
I mean... her had a purpose in the previous games. For those of you who didn't play the older games, Resseti would pop up and scold you for not saving before you closed the game. And by scold, I mean scream in your face about what an irresponsible person you are. But now, resetting is good! ... sort of. If you're unhappy with your island and just want a blank slate, he'll do that for you... sort of. He won't move any trees, rocks, or even seashells. (I'm not even totally sure he'll move houses or waterways). But it gives you an opportunity to start over with decorating your island, if you so choose! (I just DMed my BFF to talk to him, since she's struggling getting her island to look right).
I haven't checked out what's going on with the new dream islands and Luna. Partially because I've already worked my ass off on my current island, so I'm not really interested in doing that ALL OVER AGAIN. (Maybe if I get a new Switch and want to keep my old one, I can transfer the current game to the new console and use the old one to start fresh... doubtful though.)
I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for following me on this journey through Animal Crossing New Horizons! I know that this page is kinda dead, which is why I took the opportunity to post about the new update! I really appreciate you all following me from when I first started posting when the game first came out to this point. And thank you to all of my new followers who liked and shared my posts despite me not posting regularly. Eventually, I'll redraw my logo and self-portrait with Ketchup. And hopefully there will be more things for me to post in the future. I may make a new blog if they make a new game... or I'll just continue the Jabberwok bit and make it an on-going thing. Who knows? Anyway! Thank you all so much for everything!
