Ran the 800m. Didn't really push it, kinda just coasted since it's my first race. I ran 2:36 which isn't a bad start to the season since I haven't run in almost a year. Proud of myself.
I have been fighting my lack of motivation ever since my head coach left. Then my other coach left. And I found myself feeling lost, even now. I feel like I don't have a purpose or the drive. I feel like I should just quit. But I love this sport and I love what this does for me. But this uncertainty is making my depression to and anxiety 10x worse. It's so hard to find the motivation to run. But I'm trying so hard

My grandfather doesn’t use the word “calories” when talking about food…he uses the word “value” instead. I was eating fruit for lunch and he said “if you’re going for a run later you need something more valuable”. I sat there for a while just thinking about the way he said that. Change out a negative word with a positive one and you’ll see start seeing positive change.
hello my name is fragile and unstable emotions
here’s to everyone hitting a low point after doing really well. you’re amazing and so strong and your hard work is not erased. you will find happiness again
PSA for all of us running today (and runners in general every day)
wherever you run; the run counts
however far you run; the run counts
however fast or slow you run it still counts
however you feel during the run (good or bad); the run still counts
if you race or don’t race; your runs still count (and you ARE still a runner)
if you happen to wear your watch or ditch it; you still ran and it counts
whatever the outcome of the run; the run still counts
the run is meant to be releasing. releasing of endorphins, worries, anxiety, fear, stress, etc. the run is meant to be fun. the run is meant to connect you; connect you with your surroundings, to the love of the sport, to the gratitude for being able to move your body
if a run doesn’t go as planned, isn’t as fast as you want, cut short, etc. it still counts. the run is not automatically deemed “bad.” there is no such thing. there is only the run. the run counts, always.
