Luminor is my Sims 2 Build a City Challenge, but I decided to make it medieval to spice things up. I'm also incorporating some elements from the MCC and @tedsies Medieval Challenge.
We start with 12 founders, who will have to build the whole kingdom from the ground up.
My goal here is to mix gameplay and storytelling. The world of Luminor is inspired from my love for adventure games, mainly the Legend of Zelda and Dragon Quest. So even though I call it medieval, it's actually fantasy, so do not expect any historical accuracy.
But both licenses have disappointed me in terms of storytelling lately, so I am channeling my frustration into fuel for inspiration!
I also wanted it to look bright and colorful, to capture that Dragon Quest experience where everything looks cute and cosy and suddenly lots of people start dying...
Requested hair conversions part 1! So sorry that this took such a long time to share since I've made the wip post - I had to tweak a lot of stuff and learn again some stuff about converting that I've already forgotten ^^'... and I also started doing a clothing conversion and I hate bones assignments very much </3, especially when you figure out that maybe that's not bones assignments fault that something it's out of place, and maybe it's just the way you placed the mesh itself on the body but still you're like 65% sure that's the reason. ANYWAY! HERE ARE THE DOWNLOAD LIKS FOR THE HAIRS AND LIL BIT OF INFO FOR THEM:

The day had barely started when Maes woke up to his wife crying in pain. He immediately ran off to go fetch Zelda. The time had come, Carlisle was having their baby.
He found the witch enjoying the new cottage he built for her, and as soon as he showed up on her door step she immediately understood what was going on.
Carlisle thought she knew what to expect. She had seen her sister give birth, and witnessed first-hand how taxing the experience had been for her. It would be a lie to claim that she was not afraid, but she was also excited to meet her own baby. And Zelda was here to help of course. The witch had successfully delivered two babies so far, and Carlisle trusted that she would keep her safe.
– So this is how it feels, huh? Maes grunted with an embarrassed smile.
He had not anticipated feeling so anxious. He’d always been taught that giving birth was a women’s affair. Sure, it could be dangerous, but everyone had a mother so how hard could it truly be? Yet, now that he was sitting on this couch, hearing his wife crying in pain, he realized how foolish he had been. This ordeal sounded a lot more gruesome than the sugar-coated stories he heard. What if she died? What if the baby didn’t survive? How did other people go through this?
– Have faith, the Goddess will look over her, Tristan encouraged him.
But hours passed and no progress was made. The sun came down, and Carlisle’s cries became even more desperate. Something was wrong. Even the ever-optimistic Tristan could feel it. Maes clenched his fists. Not his wife. Everyone else had happy outcomes, why not them?
Carlisle was dying. She could feel it. She was exhausted from the pain and the blood loss. Zelda tried everything to help, but even she ran out of magic after a while.
Still, Carlisle gathered her last strength and gave birth to a small baby before collapsing on the ground.
That very same night, Zelda was ready to move out to her own house. She didn’t expect to feel so bittersweet. After all, she had always been the loner type. The strange witch with no friends, the one everyone whispered about but never talked to openly. Living in close quarters with the other travellers had been challenging to say the least. Her magic practice required concentration, peace of mind, quiet. She had been counting the days until she could finally have her own space. Yet, she had come to grow attached to them. Lori especially had been a very good friend. Her own sentimentality made her feel silly. She was moving out to a mere hour-walk away. Still it felt like the end of an era.
The house Maes had built for her was perfect. The mason had carefully followed her instructions. A patch of dirt had even been prepared for her to grow some medicinal herbs. What novelty, living in a village where people respected her craft, and even tried to help.
It was so good at last to have her own space, she felt inspired, energy titillating under her fingertips. Zelda immediately went to work, reheating her cauldron and stocking up on reagents. And much needed to be done. With the colder days approaching soon, Zelda feared winter would be harsh on the new born town. Food reserves were already low, and should some sickness swipe the land, she was the only one with any medical knowledge.
Yet, there was this one spell that she had been dying to try. She carefully waved her wand and whispered the words, focusing her energy on a single spot. Golden sparkles flickered down, turning into a soft ball of light. Paws and whiskers slowly came into shape, and suddenly a brown cat leaped out and started running around in a frenzy.
Zelda chuckled to herself. Her new companion seemed to love freedom as much as she did. She decided to name him Link.
For @yakumtsaki and anon who asked about them! The leaning lady is an edit of Where The Green Fern Grows statue from the S4 Romantic Garden SP, and the lady in the middle is an edit of That's My Dame table sculpture from the S3 Jazz Age store set.
These edits are new standalone meshes. The left leaning lady's textures are repo'd to the right one.
Download (SFS) (alternate)
The files are compressed. The leaning ladies are 933 polys and the single one is 490 polys, with 256x256 and 128x256 textures in the same order. They're under sculptures for §300/§330.
Back in 2019, @clstldrmr83 released her Poor Decor: Rugs Redeux project. This involved putting her Poor Decor: Oblivion Rugs set onto Simtomatic's Rugs Refinished meshes, and as a bonus she also recoloured these meshes with a number of Wiccandove's Skyrim Rugs and Sunni's Floor Rushes.
In my continuing quest to streamline my downloads folder and the number of OBJD's it contains, I decided to rip the textures off most the other rugs in my game and apply them to Simtomatics meshes.
Because why have a rug catalogue that looks like this:
When it can look like this!
But not only did I recolour this rug set 178 203(!) times with rug textures from 12 different sets, the rug meshes themselves got a little makeover!
Simtomatics original rug set was thankfully already a repositoried set and included 6 rugs sizes: the 4x5 texture main mesh, plus 4x4, 3x4, 3x3, 2x3 & 2x2 rug sizes. Unfortunately they were also multi-tile meshes. Again I turned to Huge Lunatics great Reducing GUIDs/OBJDs Tutorial and made all these rugs 1-tile, thereby saving 67 OBJDs!
But I really wanted a larger rug as well. So I reached out to my friendly neighbourhood Simmers for help, and @fracturedmoonlight came to my aid.
Frac not only delivered with the 5x5 mesh I had requested, but also sent a tiny 1x1 rug mesh and a set of runners in sizes 1x2, 1x3, 1x4 & 1x5. And because Frac is fabulous, she also adjusted the mapping and footprint on all the rugs for me.
Disclaimer- Not all textures will look good on all rug shapes. You have been warned!
Files are quarter-tile enabled but not compressed (because I kept on breaking them when I ran them through the Compressoriser) and are not merged (because I don't merge meshes). Simtomatic's rug sizes have not had their file name or GUID changed and will overwrite their unedited meshes. Please let this happen or remove the old files.

I also highly recommend grabbing @teaaddictyt's Rugs with Go Here mod if you don't already have it, so you can click and direct your Sims to walk onto the rugs.

The celebrations of Elias’ return were cut short when Lori’s water broke. Nuz had been tending to the crops, like he did every morning, but today, he felt tense. He knew the birth was nearing close, and even as he took care of the crops, he always remained on edge, expecting something to happen at every minute. So when he heard the first cries, he sprinted back inside.
But even then, there was nothing he could do, truly. Lori had retreated to their chambers with Zelda and Mia to assist, while the rest of them were left agonizing over every noise. Even Elias himself couldn’t sit still. Nuz kept his gaze low, not wanting to exchange words with anybody. He had to believe that Lori would survive this, and that the baby would be safe too. All he had to do was wait, and everything would be fine. Everything would be fine, right?
Lori never quite expected the ordeal to be so painful. Back at her village, women talked about babies with such joy and such enthusiasm, one would think giving birth was the most trivial thing a woman could do. But now that it was happening to her, she was not so sure that she could do it.
But Zelda was there to reassure her.
– You are doing great, now keep breathing.
And somehow, eventually Lori did it. She gave birth to the most beautiful girl. Everything went perfectly fine, but more importantly, as soon as she held her, Lori knew it had been all worth it. Even Mia started crying, even though she swore she just had dust in her eyes.
– She is strong and healthy, just like her mother, Zelda announced.
Soon, Nuz was let inside the room. For a moment, he was so overcome with emotion that he did not know what to say. They had a daughter. It felt impossible, yet there she was, a redhead like the two of them. She even had her mother’s beautiful eyes. They were a family now.

Grim and I are old buddies. Especially when playing Medieval Sims 2.
Traditional Medieval Challenge rules often involve things such as rolling for mortality, having sims die often, using a ROS can result in much death also... ahh, yes, hello darkness my old friend...
I have made some death-related mods, ranging from funny to downright sitting here asking myself if I am okay??
These mods will NOT be for everyone. That's okay. Move along if this is not your thing, please and thank you.
3 mods and related info under the cut:
Evil sims laugh at death.
"How did they die?" debug option on gravestones
The Mortality Roller
1. Evil Sims Laugh At Death
Evil Sims laugh at death is a relatively simple trait mod that makes sims with the evil trait find death funny.
When a sim dies and others gather around to mourn, no matter how close they were with the deceased, they'll laugh. If you direct them to "mourn" at the gravestone, they'll laugh.
While everyone is sobbing, they're thinking the whole thing is rather hilarious.
Why did I make this mod? Because I was tired of my "Black Widow" evil witch Louise Aire crying over the sims she had literally killed lol. Silly woman.
Download here
2. "How did they die?"
This mod was made upon request by someone on Discord who was playing a newly downloaded hood and wanted to know how all of the dead sims had met their grizzly ends.
If you have "boolProp testingcheatsenabled true" turned on, you can shift-click on a gravestone and select "how did they die?"
Which will give you a popup informing you of the details of their untimely (or perhaps timely) demise -
And, well, yeah. That's it, that's the mod. Shouldn't conflict with anything, hopefully.

3. Tea's Mortality Roller
Okay, this one is the most complicated and will take the longest to explain so bear with me.
In many "historical sims challenges", mortality rolls are a feature of the challenge rules. Basically, you're rolling to see if your sim will die at a given age in their lives.
Previously you'd maybe use a spreadsheet and dice or RNG for this, like what I had here -
But no more!
I have coded a mod object that will move all of these shenanigans in-game, interjecting itself at key moments and rolling mortality for sims, including infant mortality, with the power of tuning BCONs and BHAVs and maths. Yay, maths...
The Mortality Roller works mostly based on Medieval Caste Traits, for example here, here and here. If you don't have these in your game this will have less functionality, and/or not end well for you because if the mod can't find a caste trait, it assumes "middle class".
Everything about this mod is tuneable. Firstly, the in-game options:
Here you can select whether you want to roll "all ages at birth" or "per birthday". Rolling all ages at birth will tell you right off the bat at what age this sim might be "destined" to die. Alternatively, you can choose to "roll at each birthday" which will give you a popup after the sim ages up to tell you how near or far Grim is...
This mortality roll has zero practical effect. Your sim isn't gonna immediately drop dead - it just tells you the result of the random roll and it's up to you to interpret it, and build it into the gameplay and the sim's story.
The "Toggle Infant Mortality" option should be fairly self-explanatory. All detailed tuning for infant mortality is is BCONs that you can edit with SimPE, which we will get to later.
If infant mortality is enabled, a baby has a chance of death at birth. These chances are influenced by:
The Mother / Father / Family's social caste trait
The presence of a midwife on the lot (recognised by the Midwife trait or career)
The number of expected babies (death odds increase significantly for multiples)
If the baby rolls to perish, you will get a pop-up after you name the baby asking if you would like to accept or fight fate. If you accept, that baby will be put down on the floor and perish. If you fight fate, baby will live, simple as that.
If baby rolls to live, you'll just get a text notification letting you know that the Watcher is smiling upon the new bundle of joy with favour instead.
If baby perishes, they will fade out and a gravestone will appear. Grim does not spawn, cos that got put into the "too hard" basket. The model of the gravestone will vary depending on mum's social caste trait. These are NOT the same as a Maxis Gravestone, which are super complicated. So you can't, for example, "move gravestone to another lot" in the same way you can move Maxis gravestones. I am not sure what would happen if you moved it via sim inventory to an owned business lot - it could work? Needs testing.
I did code a custom "mourn" interaction, which gives a pop-up to let you know who rests there. The message differs slightly on caste trait again, or "literacy levels" as you might put it.
Peasants can't write or read much so that one's pretty basic 😂
Baby will remain in the family tree, greyed out, and sims will get a memory of them perishing. I do not believe that "baby ghosts" are a thing, nor should they ever spawn.
If you want / need a baby to perish for "story purposes", there is also a debug option on the mortality roller called *Infant Perish - you won't see this unless you shift-click with testing cheats on, but if you need to, you can choose an infant to perish with this debug option.
WHY DID YOU MAKE THIS MOD, TEA??? WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU??
Okay, look, these things are a part of life, and historically happened often. And also because the only other mod options were either a custom NPC Ogre mod (which I had been using but was rather clunky), or a certain ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE WTF BABY BBQ that should NOT be mentioned. Seriously, I "borrowed" small parts of the code for my mod which meant I looked inside that mod in SimPE, and I did not like it in there, at all. I wanted something tasteful, done respectfully and sensitively.
For mortality to occur, the roller object has to be on the lot (each lot) . If you delete it, mortality rolls will not take place. The object is taken from and repo'd to Sunni's market pottery set, which I have included the master for in the download.
I tried very hard to make this mod sensitively and considerately, and everything is optional. So please don't yell at me 🙏🏻🙈
Now, onto the tuning BCONs, starting with caste traits:
For simplicity's sake I have broken trait castes up into 3 broad categories of low, middle, and high class. You enter a "0" if you want a trait to be considered low class, "1" for middle class, and "2" for high class.
These castes affect mortality rolls for infant mortality and also for birthday mortality rolls.
Infant mortality is highly tuneable:
The first 3 lines are the base % chance for sims belonging to those social classes. "Midwife Presence % Decrease" controls how much better off your sims will be for having a midwife on the lot when baby is born. The last 3 lines affect % chances for multiples.
You can ignore when I say "set all to 0 for no infant mortality" - this is an older screenshot and I deleted that after I added the in-game on/off toggle, but technically setting them all to 0 would also still work.
For "life stage" mortality (toddler, child, teen and adult), there are tuning BCONs for all:
Simply, you enter a % chance of mortality occurring within that life stage, for each overarching class. The mod does the maths.
Buuuut then I went a step extra and also incorporated some traits that will add or subtract from a sim's mortality risk, as seen here. This was a fun extra I am glad I added 😂 Always enter a "positive" number - the BHAV does the work to interpret "helpful" versus "unhelpful" traits.
Next up: COMPATIBILITY PATCHES (oh boy).
This. Was. Gnarly.
And I recently discovered a whole new mod I gotta try and patch (William's age up messages mod). This is currently incompatible with my mod, sorry.
However, here is what's currently included for compatibility:
If you have any of these mods, please put in the required comp patch in your Z_LoadLast folder. I think they should all work as intended, but if not, please do reach out to me.
As with all comp patches, you only need them if you have the mod.
The zip also contains:
You've gotta have my TA_MortalityRoller file, that's like, the mod. Then you have to have the gravestones and the Market Pottery Master (unless you already have it).
I hope some historical players will enjoy this mod. I put a lot of work into this one.
I would like to give a HUGE shout-out and thank you to @niamh-sims who was instrumental in the inspiration, development and testing on this mod. It wouldn't have happened without her.
And if you want it, you can

Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favour!
Elias felt strange, walking down that familiar road. The land has changed. The humble travelling camp was long gone, and proper wooden houses had sprung from the ground. It was unsettling yet somehow nostalgic. He wondered how much the others had changed in his absence. He was changed too, in a way. Stronger, and perhaps a little bit wiser. His encounter with the Goddess felt like a distant dream. In fact, he had no concrete proof that it actually happened, aside from a burning passion in his chest. He still didn’t feel like a hero, he had no special powers, not even the assurance of an easy destiny. All he knew is that he had to try, with all his heart, and maybe it would be enough to escape from the clutches of darkness.
His existential thoughts were interrupted as he reached the inn. He immediately recognized the golden banners flapping in the wind. They were the same color as the Nosiam’s old family inn back in his village. He took a deep breath before stepping inside.
– Elias is back!
In an instant, he was surrounded by familiar faces. Everyone gathered around him, giving him hugs and warm congratulations. Meeting everyone safe and sound made him emotional in ways that he hadn’t anticipated. Lori was a married woman now, heavily pregnant and positively glowing.
– I can’t believe I’ve been gone this long.
– You missed all of our weddings, Lori said. Cecil and Tristan just had a daughter. And Carlisle is pregnant too.
They were interrupted by Zelda pulling him aside.
– I really thought you were going to die, you idiot.
– Your advice really helped, thank you Zelda.
But no one was happier to see him than Mia.
– I knew it! I knew you would make it! You look different. Did something happen up there?
I decided to make my own list of TSM clothing conversions, because TSM to TS2 conversion database is dead. Feel free to use it and let me know if I missed something! :)
Tristan always knew that he wanted to be a father, but nothing could have prepared him for that feeling of holding his first born daughter in his arms. It was no secret that he had hoped for a son. He always imagined himself teaching him the ways of chivalry, training him to the art of sword-fighting and military strategy. But he realized now that none of this mattered. He was already blessed for his wife to be safe and their baby healthy.
And little Ginny was perfect. She even inherited the van Orfen blue eyes. She did not need to hold a sword or learn some pompous protocol, she was already his greatest pride. All he asked from her was to grow strong, healthy and happy.
There was a ritual back in Cecil's hometown, to plant a new tree whenever a baby was born. The tradition served as a way to honor the Goddess for her precious gift of life. Cecil has described it in length, but she was too weak to get out of bed. Thus, Tristan took it upon himself to fulfill the ritual. He carefully chose a spot on the land surrounding the house, where there would be enough sun but also shelter from the wind.
As Carlisle noticed him working, she came to help without him needing to ask. It was for her little niece too, a piece of her beloved sister. She helped water the tree, as they both whispered a little prayer for Ginny in between the branches.

More, more, more! Another set of medieval items I did for a commission (thank you for sharing!). You can combine it with my previous Medieval Sets (Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3). All items are low poly. Sorry the lame preview pic.
The collection file is new, the whole set contains 82 items.
Some of the items are from the last Medieval Essential set by Syboulette, others are from The Witcher 3. I’m not able to put all the credits because items are too many and from different creators… thank you original creators and forgive me
In this set you will find: tables, chairs, deco items, wardrobes, shelves, a fireplace, counters, stove, sinks, a bar, stool, desks, toilet, bookcases, fridge, shower, animated mill and a pillory.
The manuscript is based on "Become an author without a computer" by MogHughson. There is also a well based on the "Fetch Water Station" by Sunmoon Starfactory.
The Hay Feeder is a functional pet bowl, it works better with Episim mod "No rotating pet bowl"

Hey there, I'm sorry for the lack of activity on this side, I didn't mean to go on another hiatus. The truth is that I have spread myself too thin in between projects and thus I don't have much energy to write.
But don't worry, I am not giving up on Luminor, I am still very attached to this hood. I have played through the first day of Autumn, and I have already edited all the pictures but the writing is taking a bit longer than expected. Thus I am thinking that I might post just once or twice a week rather than waiting to have a full queue.
I hope it won't feel too sporadic for the people following the story, but a slower rhythm might be a lot more manageable for me.
