Sometimes as partners you need breaks from each other after hurt feelings, just to rekindle your friendship as it was.
It can be good for you.
Especially if you're guilty of some unkind things yourself. It's a time to reflect and breathe, and remember the reasons you wanted to work with this person.
Their spontaneity.
Their ideas.
Their different palette of interests that blends well with your own.
Did you know that there are now something like ninety billion galaxies in the universe? In such a universe, it seems ridiculous and foolhardy to attempt a creation of one's own, but still, I persevere.
From: Flora and Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo
Sometimes when I'm having a bad day I like to remember that in one universe our OC saved the life of the other in a gamble.
The game?
Go Fish.
When we write the proper draft of this second series, we need to do some research on gambling games.
I know MerMay is coming to a close, but the Paws doesn't. Here's his contribution, done on the plane as we were flying home.
Curly haired OC in the corner belongs to @meghanzbindenauthor and @writerbee-33 for the fun of it
Absurdity, n. A statement or belief manifestly inconsistent with one's own opinion
From The Devil's Dictionary by Ambrose Bierce
Doodles from the Paws! I heard another Beta call them Rimerry. I am aboard the ship.

I myself am partial to "Merrider".
What do you think, Bee? @writerbee-33
The assassin you sent to kill us is part of the found family now
Just a little clip from yesterday's exercise!
Part way through Character Bootcamp Week! We've been running our characters through sheets of questions, exercising them in AUs, trying to get into their heads, and know them better. We've run into some interesting scenarios so far, and I was inspired to create this one.
OC Challenge!
The Group meets a Monster:
Person A: Runs away
Person B: Stab it
Person C: Stab it...A LOT
Person D: Freeze and/or play dead. Hope it doesn't see
Person E:...
Person E...
Person E: I'M GOING TO PET IT
Significant other of Person E: OHNO not again--
The Storyteller
Inspiration, Scary Stories for Young Foxes and OCs from The Project @meghanzbindenauthor and @writerbee-33
The Paws loves animal stories. I think he relates.
Ah yes, him. Storyteller is an accurate nickname.
So are quite a few other things. I find him entertaining.

PROJECT UPDATE!
Today we get our manuscript back! It was a tough go and we have a lot of changes to make. Our next set of writing tools include a saw, sledgehammer, and blow torch.
On the bright side, before we really get into it, we have Character Boot Camp week! Stay tuned for little writing doodles, drawing doodles, and fun quotes as we develop our characters by putting them through the randomest situations.
Got ideas for Character Boot Camp? Stick 'em in the comments!
PROJECT UPDATE
T-minus one week before we claim our manuscript back from our Beta Readers! There will be the sorting of feedback, the tears, the triumphs, and the long long looooooooong hours ahead of revising and rewriting. Whoo hoo.....
Sometimes I like to imagine that someone, somewhere in the future will find something I wrote and absolutely fall in love with it. And not because it's one of the best things I've ever written, and maybe it's not the best piece of prose they've ever read...
But I put my whole heart and soul into it, and they can tell.
What a wonderful dream. I wish this on all writers.
PROJECT UPDATE!!
Co-authoring sure can be hard friends, but not all is lost! With patience and communication, anything can be worked out. The Project moves on!
It's been a while, but we're back with another update for ya! The Project is now in the hands of our first round of BETA READERS!!
Kind of terrifying. Nerve wracking. The waiting. The watching. Receiving. Processing. Crying. Celebrating. So many emotions.
Stay tuned! Before we dive into the next draft, we have a self-inflicted don't-touch-the-story-month, then a Character Boot Camp to reinforce our main and side characters! Look out for short stories, arts, and probably a bunch of other random stuff!
To everyone thinking about Co-authoring: It's hard! You can be best of friends and find yourselves fighting over things you never thought would be problems. Trust me, you will disagree. You will hurt feelings.
The key to Co-writing, or any relationship (at least in my eyes) is what you do afterwards. Can you resolve an argument without leaving a ton of resentment? Can you compromise? Can you forgive unkindness and apologize for your own?
I'm not as good at this as I thought. Wish me luck. I hope one day I'll be as good a partner as I want to be.
Insert tiny creatures that act like children wrestling and complaining about who pushed who and who was there first.
