Madeline chuckled as she looked up to see her cousin. She knew that Megan was living here and that she would run into her eventually. “It’s a pretty recent thing. Well, extremely recent. I just moved here yesterday? Two days ago?” she smiled at her. “I got a job at the hospital so here I am!”

“Yesterday? Two days ago,” Megan beamed, genuinely excited to have someone else in town. “I was actually on my break from there. Did you want to grab coffee unless...” She looked up at the bus sign and realized that maybe that wasn't the best of ideas. “I uh... I don't want to be a bother.”

“How long does it take for the bus to get here? Is there even a bus?” she mumbled to herself, getting impatient as she tried to figure out the town she had just moved to.

Megan was on her way to get a cup of coffee from her favorite shop. Her nerves were shot and this day was only half-way through. Nearly eight more hours to go. Looking down at her phone, she paid no attention to her surroundings thus abruptly bumping into someone. “I'm uh... sorry,” she muttered insincerely before her curiosity got the best of her. Her mouth drop and a smile adorned her features. “What are you doing here? In Wilmington? Mama didn’t mention it when I was talking to her on Sunday.”

Morgan hummed. “About being your bestest gal pal? Of course,” She said in a faux-serious attempt, poorly masking the grin that remained on her lips. The simplest of touches almost had a soft gasp passing her lips, but Morgan swallowed it back as forest greens darted down to the cause of the tumbling butterflies in her stomach. Nerves has wracked her during their texts earlier in the week; seeds of doubt planted in her mind since their earliest exchanges. But it seemed so distant now, with Morgan swept up in the moment. “I couldn’t picture coming with anyone else,” She answered honestly, briefly giving a tight squeeze to their threaded hands. “I don’t think I would’ve come if you didn’t…” Morgan didn’t exactly know what they were either. They had no label attached, but there were certainly deeper growing feelings on her part. Giving up never once crossed into the realm of possibilities. Where words failed her, actions could pipe up. Leaning in, Morgan placed a gentle, reassuring kiss on the blonde’s lips. “It’s not nothing. At least, to me it’s not just a random date.” She could feel her cheeks turning redder at the admission. She never dealt well with discussing her feelings. “I think I haven’t had enough alcohol. The punch has got um, a lot of punch to it. Should probably get a glass or three.”

“Right, buddy,” Megan smirked, tilting her head to the side. “Bro...” The ridiculousness of mentioned titles amused her to no end. None sufficed for their particular relationship-- whatever that may be, she would take it as it came. The taunting grin swiftly turned more genuine and just as reserved. “I didn't go the last three years, I don't think I would have started unless...,” she shrugged, more or less returning the same sentiment. She truly couldn't fathom being at the ball with anyone else. No one quite got her attention like Morgan. No one held onto it with such an unwavering fiery. Despite her reluctance initially and even sometimes when her own skepticism made an unnecessary appearance, whatever was brewing between them was deserving of the risk. Hazy blues fluttered closed, reveling in the small kiss. Megan always wanted more but in that moment-- it was enough. It was exactly what she wanted. When Morgan pulled back, the blonde brought their adjoined hands to her lips-- grazing the back of her hand with a soft hum; her silent 'me too'. The nurse scrunched up her face at the terrible pun, it only made her more sure of her feelings-- and wanting this to eventually grow. That and a combination of how pretty she was blushing.  “C'mon,” she gently tugged at her hand. “Let's go dance some more before I remember that I can't.”

Wyatt wasn’t sure what the proper response was here. No matter her preference people shouldn’t judge, if that’s what her boss was doing. “I thought it was always a girl thing where you danced together all the time. Keep the guys away and all that.” he said with a chuckle. “To answer your question – that doesn’t make you gay and if you are, well, good for you for embracing that.”

“Is it? I always feel like that's just something they put in the movies.” Granted, she'd never actually been to any sort of dance until then. She'd never been much of a clubber. Sure, she loved her bars but those were different environments. “You're a good man. We need more men like you in the world,” she chuckled, not sure how serious she was being. At this point, the alcohol was certainly doing something great.

Cammie caught her lower lip between her teeth in an attempt to compress her giggles. The girl was quite amusing and perhaps the punch had something to do with that or maybe it didn’t. “There would be nothing wrong if you were not not gay.” She said with a tiny smile.

“Oh, I know that. I don't care if people are gay,” she shrugged, because she genuinely didn't. That would put her at least halfway onto the road to hypocrisy. And really, why would she care? That was just dumb. “I'm Megan by the way-- proud bisexual.” Saying the word aloud actually caused her to snicker. “Welcome to my coming-out party...” She pointed to the dance floor.

Typically, Kel wasn’t much into parties. Of course he’d attended his fair share in college, but those had been a very different type. Still, Ella had offered to watch his kids for him and accused him of being a hypocrite if he didn’t go, so he’d managed to find a suit on sale that fit him moderately well and dragged himself to the ball which started far too late in his opinion. At the moment though, he was enjoying the freedom to drink spiked punch without worrying, and hanging out by the refreshments table. He thought he was staying fairly inconspicuous, until he spilled some of his drink on his white shirt and tried to subtly cover it with his jacket. “You didn’t see that.” He said as he noticed someone watching him. 

Megan had been in dire need of taking a break. Her shoes were killing her feet. How people danced much longer than she had, it was completely lost on her. Until that night, she hadn't even understood to pull of it; however, it wasn't bad when you were with someone whose company you enjoyed. Her eyes immediately landed on a very familiar face. She was about to offer up a few pleasantries but instead she merely chuckled. “Never,” Megan smiled, shaking her head at him. It wasn't everywhere she got to see friends or the likes of in such formal attire. She took a moment to appreciate his appearance and gave him a slight nod.  “You clean up nicely... well, I mean you uh... you did.” The blonde had to cover her mouth to keep her another laugh from being heard.
