I agree that the movie did drag along in some ways, and that it was not like other books turned in to movies. But I do believe that it would be kind of hard to make that movie not drag, just because it is just a boy and his dad walking.

The Road as a movie was a lot different then the book but I liked it. I believe that some senses in the movie were way more emotional then in the book. Also, the movie kind of changed the characters. The boy was not as scared as he was in the book. The ending of the movie was also a lot different then the end of the book. The man and his family that was following the boy and his dad seemed a little more scarier in the movie then in the book. I really liked the movie, but for once I think I like the book better.

A little late on this post, it’s been a busy week. Hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving and a safe time Black Friday shopping. Not much to talk about since we only had one day of class, and haven’t read anything. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to start the movie. I Still haven’t finished my paper yet (I’m a procrastinator). Can you believe we only have a few weeks till we’re done! I have really enjoyed this class.

Happy late thanksgiving to everyone! I liked the road. I wish we knew what happened with the boy. I think if I was the one who wrote the book they would have found a village of people, it is kind of like I Am Legend. That movie was very good I hope the Road movie is good. I look forwarded to watching it this coming week in class. I can not not believe that this semester is almost over, I have enjoyed this class a lot and it has made start to like reading again.

As reading The Road I can't help but to really hope for the best for the son. At the begging of the book he was scared and always argued with his dad, by the end he was not as scared and started to agree with his dad only because he knew it wouldn't matter. I have really enjoyed reading with book but I know there will not be any happy ending. I do and do not want to watch the movie because I know there will be some senses that i do not really care about seeing. Like the part in the basement or with the child.

The Road so far is so much better then the last book we read. At first it is kind of boring how it just talks about how they walk, and sleep. It was weird to me how there were no chapters at all. The part with the coke was really good to me. I like how the little boy wanted to share with his dad. Another thing that is really weird is how there are no names, that part to me is weird. I look forward to finishing the book. I am also excited that we get to watch the movie in class, it will be cool to compare the book and the movie.

I did not like this book at all. As we reviewed Monday in class I didn't know La Dolly had a party and had burned a lot of people. For me this book was very very confusing. The way it jumps back and forth, and how at the end none of it is really tied together. Yes the power point helps but still there's a lot that we don't know or that to me just don't make sense. It seems like every chapter could kind of be its own book. There were also way to many people to keep up to to remember who was who. I'm ready to get started on the next book, I hope it's better then this one.

What can I say about this book?? At first I really did not care for it. I could not tell who was who it jumped around way too much, but as I read I grow to like it. It makes you want to find out how there lives interwind together. It was hard to get through the first few chapter, and to really understand what was happening. Now I am on chapter 9 and I just want to keep on reading to find out how this book is going to end. I look forward to finishing the book and discussing it in class.

I really thought Generation X was an interesting story. It isn’t anything like what we have been reading in class. Buck was no Prince Charming. Buck trying to talk the sisters into leaving the asteroid for his personal gain was a really selfish move on his part, because there was only enough oxygen for one person and he was going to use it. There is nothing romantic about that. At least the sister that he did talk into leaving was able to see her world (asteroid) in away that her family or anyone ever had.

Generation X was interesting indeed and Buck was definitely no prince charming. And he was using the three sisters for his own personal gain. Also with Buck telling the sisters he can revive them back home was “total horseshit.” but Serena was braver than her sisters were and I liked that quality about her.

The two stories we read were a little different. The second one was kind of hard to understand. The first few short stories we read I actaully liked but these two were not my favorite. I am excited about starting our next book. My favorite thing we read so far was The Things They Carried.

I am really looking forward to our midterm, and feel very confident about it. Probably because of the work we put in making the questions and answering them in our groups which helped us study even more. I really liked my group and felt like we really were able to help each other and bounce of different ideas off of each other for some of the questions that could be open ended. It’s always great to get another person’s point of view on something!

This week there is not that much to talk about, however I like the way we studied for midterm. I had forgot some of the short stories we had read and making our midterm really helped me remember. So far I have enjoyed both of the books we have read and I can not wait to read the next one! I have a question about our study guide....what does the butterfly symbolize in the things they carried? That so far is the only question I am really having a hard time remembering, I do not even remember a butterfly being talked about.

Totally agree! At first, I thought the mom was distant and dealing with her loss in her own way and not trying to help Oskar deal with his emotions. But at the end, we see that she was looking out for him and trying to find closure for her son. It was sad to read that at the end, the father called her to let her know he was ok, but she knew in her heart that he was going to die.

I feel the same way y'all do. I thought at first the mom did not care at all, but by the end of the book that totally changed. We learn that she knew everything her son was doing n was really looking out for him. The end of the book was very sad to read. #reblog6

The book did not end at all like I thought it would. For the most part though I really enjoyed reading this book. The title was brought up thought the whole book and it had me wonder why? And why was it named that? All I could think is maybe because at the begining he was extremely close to finding where the key belonged. Both the book we have read in this class have been good. They have both made me enjoy reading and make me excited to know what our next book will be about!! Maybe the next one will be even better then the first two.
