The movie was done pretty well to me. I also would had liked to see the train seen as well. I really enjoyed the movie and I like how they almost included all the book. I probably would have also stayed in the bunker too with all the food. I would have felt safe in there

The Road as a movie

Getting to watch the The Road as a movie is wonderful! I've been loving it so far. I usually enjoy book to movie adaptations if they do it right. So far I'm pleased with how the movie is going and they did switch some scenes but I like it. I also like how we get to see their Post apocalyptic world.

Glad your break was excellent! The Road was my favorite too. I'd be lost in what to do if I was in their situation. I would also not be able to kill my child either. I'd be miserable if I ever did. And the boy finding that other family seemed like a good thing for him from what I got.

I had an awesome Thanksgiving break. I had a nice small Thanksgiving dinner with just my mom,dad, and sister. I ate some great food and went to see Mockingjay part 1. I wish the break was a little longer but time to get back in gear for finals.

I love the strong bond between the father and his son! I also really like how simple this book is: there are only two characters, it’s linear, and it’s easy to read. So far, I haven’t had to look up any vocabulary in this book like I did with a Visit From the Goon Squad. I haven’t been able to make it to class much lately, so I am not entirely sure what all has been discussed, but I have been keeping up with the readings and everything!

I so like how the book is linear in the timeline. The book is simple to follow and I enjoy all the suspense that you get when the father and son go and explore this world. I've had to look up some of the vocabulary but its not hard to understand what you are reading.

Always on the road

The Road is a fascinating book that has such powerful imagery for the reader. I'm eager to finish the book and find what happens the father and son and how the story itself ends. I would definitely read this book again and recommend it to someone.

I really agree with you on how the father and son are but aren't all at the same time. They do care deeply for each other considering how protective and dependent they are on each other for survival in that blasted wasteland.

I have really enjoyed reading The Road. I absolutely love post apocalyptic novels! I eager to finish the book already. And I the soda scene was just adorable to me. The son was also cute in how he wanted to share the hot chocolate with his dad. I also like how there is no chapters and how McCarthy doesn't give names to any of the characters. It was interesting thing to do.

Following the book was difficult, but i enjoyed reading it. I thought it was kind of neat of how you get to see how all these different characters insect in each others lives and there interaction they have with them. I do wish Sasha was in more of the chapters since she is an interesting character. I personally did not have a favorite character. Overall, the book was not terrible and I enjoyed the slightly, but annoying, time jumps.

Time is a goon

I actually enjoyed reading this book. It was a little confusing, but I got used to it. The time skipping between the past and distance future of these characters lives was unique. You get to see all of Egan's characters at different points in their lives and how they go from self destructive to redeeming themselves.

This week we started A visit from the goon squad. So far to be honest the book is really boring. I don’t know why it think its probably because of the structure of the book. Yet certain chapters are not that bad. I really enjoyed chapter 6, 7, and 8. Those were really interesting to read....

The book is a little slow but it is not that bad in my opinion. At least it has some content in it that we can almost relate to and I just some the bands names. They just crack me up. I hope it does get more interesting as we read

I have really enjoyed reading A Visit From The Goon Squad. The storyline is interesting so far even if the time jumps can be confusing at first. I find it interesting that we get to explore all these different characters in different time periods in their life. It is like flashbacks between some chapters. And the picture that I have is great for figuring out how each person is connected another person(s) and so and so forth.

Post 8

I really thought Generation X was an interesting story. It isn’t anything like what we have been reading in class. Buck was no Prince Charming. Buck trying to talk the sisters into leaving the asteroid for his personal gain was a really selfish move on his part, because there was only enough oxygen for one person and he was going to use it. There is nothing romantic about that. At least the sister that he did talk into leaving was able to see her world (asteroid) in away that her family or anyone ever had.

Generation X was interesting indeed and Buck was definitely no prince charming. And he was using the three sisters for his own personal gain. Also with Buck telling the sisters he can revive them back home was "total horseshit." but Serena was braver than her sisters were and I liked that quality about her.

Generation X and Imago

Imago was a certainly sci-fi with the aliens and humans breeding with them and having hybrid children. It put you out of being a human when you read through it. And Generation X was very fairytale like. With a small astroid called Texaslohoma where it is always 1974 and most people on earth forget they exist. It was very otherworldly. I enjoyed reading both of the selections

Midterm

I feel very confidant about our midterm. I did enjoy how Professor Clark uses most of our question for it. I also like how it is subjective overall. So that makes me pretty happy

After finishing Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, I was a little surprised. Most of the times books and movies are pretty predictable and I can guess what will happen, but not in this case. I was so disappointed that after all of his searching, Oskar found out that his dad hadn’t even left him…

The ending disappointed me too, although I was already expecting it to not end with a “happy” ending with all the directions it was already taking me. We already declared that even finding a use for the key would not be enough, but does that mean anything would be? It’s hard to imagine any happy ending for this story.

I can agree with that too. The book was not predictable in the least bit. I did like how some information was withheld and that made it unpredictable. The ending was not what I was expecting. However, i liked the ending. Oskar just wanted his dad back. I was a bit disappointed about finding out the key actually went to and we do not even get to find out what is in the safety deposit box!
