also let’s not think abt the go kids being foster kids from different birth families and mego constantly seeking out attention because all he’s ever wanted was to feel loved and appreciated and that people care about him lmao

mego’s secret identity is michael gibson, a theater student at go city university. despite the necessity of a low profile, he still tries out for the lead in every production the department puts on, always ends up in the ensemble, and ends up creating an elaborate backstory for his ‘character’ that he will tell anyone and everyone, whether they’re in the show or not.

“When I first auditioned for Stranger Things, I was just living in Chicago. Just looking for a job. Working at a restaurant, doing commercials and bit parts on shows. I honestly would have been happy booking anything. But I remember seeing the concept trailer the Duffer Brothers put together. The boys took these bits and pieces from all the movies that inspired them—Jaws, E.T., The Thing, Firestarter—and they cut them together into a mock trailer for what they wanted the vibe of the show to be. I was like, “Oh, man. This would be so, so cool.“
