Change is difficult. How did you show up for yourself and honor your own needs today? ❤️ . . I haven’t felt good since yesterday. Bad headache. Sluggish. “But I wanted to create today!” the voice in my head started saying. I wrote the script for a sleep meditation and I wanted to record and edit it today but I just haven’t felt up for anything besides resting and snuggling with my pup, and that’s okay. 🙏🏻❤️ . . Even in normal everyday life we sometimes feel sluggish or tired from our enormous schedules, routines and responsibilities. But during all of that, did you take time to honor what YOU truly needed? . . May it be a 5 minute meditation, a self massage, a moment to journal your thoughts, a binge fest on Netflix, some quality time with a friend, partner or loved one, a walk, a hot bath or cup of tea.... . . *This post won’t apply to all. But for those it resonates with, I hope it helps you in some way. ❤️ . . We are all a product of our upbringing. As children we looked to our parents for guidance (as children do) and modeled our parents behavior which then created our conditioning, programed responses, and personalities traits. Then as we grew older we realize our parent’s faults. . . Our parents also went through this same process. Modeling their parents (and your grandparents modeling their parents..) and so on.. You get the picture. . . They were all operating from their current state of awareness and knowledge. For example: If their parents were withdrawn, they might also carry some of those traits into their parenting style; these all being subconscious, of course. . . Just as we suffered through traumas (whether inflicted by parent, peers, or an outside force or circumstance) so did they. And they carried those wounds with them, which shaped their personalities and parenting styles. . . If you’re reading this I feel you were divinely guided to this post, ✨ so let me ask you: . . Please consider forgiving your parents for the times they let their pain manifest into yours. ❤️ . . Try to release the weight of blaming them for their faults. Most tried their best to love you using the tools and traits they developed in childhood. ❤️🙏🏻 Just as you are trying your best to love others or your own children to the best of your ability with the tools (past conditioning and programming) you were given. . . I was blessed to have good parents. Were they perfect? No. But may I ask you, who along us is? NO parent (or person for that matter) is perfect. THERE IS NO SUCH THING. 🤷🏻♀️ . . The present moment is where our life is lived - It’s where the MAGIC’s at. ✨🙏🏻 . . However, a lot of the time we focus too much of our attention on the past (which can cause depressed thoughts) or the future (which can cause anxious thoughts.) 💭 . . We can combat or transmute these thoughts with presence (present moment awareness.) ✨ . . Practice: Try to focus your full attention on the noises and sensations around you right now. Maybe the sound of your breathing or the slow hum of the AC. Focus your attention on something happening right now. Let be honest. Being our true and authentic self is really hard sometimes. We fear losing our friends or our families. “What would they think?” “What will they say about me?” But with time I’ve realized that those friendships and family connections weren’t meant to stay if I can’t be my authentic self around them. I try to be the best friend, daughter, granddaughter, niece and cousin I can be, but if they don’t accept me for who I am, they just won’t be a part of my life - and that’s okay. ❤️ Being our authentic selves will cause loss. It’s inevitable. Some people only enjoy the version of you that fits into the box they’ve created in their minds. 📦🧠 But were those connections even real in the first place? 🤔 Or was it just a connection made from years of knowing each other, although now possibly something that no longer serves you? Is it a connection you keep because “they’re family”? Some of my family members and friends are wonderful ✨🙏🏻 and my connections with them have expanded since stepping into my authentic self. ❤️ However, some have fallen away because they see me how they want to see me. How they believe my past defined me. How they continue to view me through the context of their own minds. Is losing them a loss?
