(Bloomberg) — Avi Lewis, a documentary filmmaker and husband of author and activist Naomi Klein, has been elected leader of Canada’s left-wing New Democratic Party.

The NDP — once a key supporter of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government but now reduced to just six seats in the House of Commons — announced the results of its leadership race on Sunday in Winnipeg.

Lewis received 56% of the vote. Heather McPherson, an Edmonton-based member of Parliament, came in second place, with 29%.

Wild to me that there are sctually some Brown and Black MAGAts cheering on--or even part of--ICE, CBP, and so on. There are Queer MAGAts. Women MAGAts. The list goes on. And it's nothing new; believe it or not, there were some Jews who supported Hitler in the 1930s.

Some folks from targeted groups are genuinely self-hating, and some think they'll be spared if they lick the boot hard enough, that they'll be considered "one of the good ones."

But here's the reality, which any of us who have studied fascism will tell you: Fascism always needs new scapegoats, and they WILL get around to you eventually, as soon as your value as a scapegoat outweighs your value as a token. Did you never read that fucking "First they came for..." poem, written by someone who lived through the exact same thing in the 1930s and 40s?

The only thing licking that boot will get you is the chance to be executed with polish on your tongue.
