Iron Lung AU where the submarine Simon is sent down with is actually a transformer.

The Autobot/Decepticon war was practically useless after Cybertron (and Earth) went with the Quiet Rapture, but some Decepticons still fought til the bitter end. SM-13 (not their real name, but a designation given to them by the Autobots/COI) was a Decepticon scout captured after the Autobots took over the Nemesis, one of the only ships left after the Quiet Rapture. They're a victim of Mnemosurgery, and can't talk as their voice box was destroyed during the procedure. When exploration of planet AT-5 began (and the SM-8, an Autobot submarine, was lost), the Autobots, led by Elita Prime, gave the COI three different Decepticon prisoners (I remember there was something in the game Terminal that said there were 3 'burner subs' after SM-8 soo) to use in this expedition - SM-13 was unlucky enough to be one of them. The humans mutilated their frame in order to make them 'acceptable' for the mission - they can still transform, but they can't recognize their body. Not anymore.

And, as Simon and SM-13 travel through the blood ocean, something changes within them. Simon understands binary code now. SM-13's spark now has a heartbeat. Their bodies change. They start to hear each other's thoughts, they see each other's memories. I becomes we, you becomes us. They become one.

At the end, the two of them die and become one with the soil, turning into a tree.

This response scratched my brain a bit........ This dude does not care for labels, AT LEAST FROM WHAT IT SEEMS-- and it's probably from the fact of how the world treated him (the whole thing with demons in their society). Acknowledging that no matter how good you are, you're still gonna get hurt and taken advantage of, it's better if you make your way in by being an alive asshole than a dead honest person -> literally his whole character is based on how much he WANTS to live.

This part made me think about how Bendy treats Boris (especially in the beginning of the comic). Bendy thinks that Boris is way too obsessed with the idea of finding the map and saving HIM that Boris doesn't have much going for him (no friends/seems like he doesn't have much life or identity outside of saving Bendy). Bendy has seen first-hand the lengths people are willing to go to for their morals; he knows what Boris has sacrificed for him, and he knows that Boris is a good person with strong morals, so he conflates the two. He hates the fact that Boris doesn't have any friends, or that he's done so much for Bendy - he may even feel a little guilty for it. And now that Bendy has gone against Boris' morals and killed someone for his own 'safety'? I feel like those emotions are rearing their heads right now.
