in one of these classes i attend which is a Business course, the professor did her self-intro and besides talking about graduating from UBC and her banking career and all that before she decided to do teaching, she says she loves playing video games and said specifically « first-shooter types » mentioning Call of Duty, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Skyrim, and even talked about specifics so you’d know she really is into them (i havent played those games though haha) and some RPG too. omg i was hoping she’d mention Overwatch, i wanted to ask if she played it but after mentioning games, she talked about how she loves to customize cars too so i didnt wanna disrupt the rhythm but thats SO COOL! totally didnt expect that. really inspiring and amazed to see professionals who share to the world theyre gamers
It really takes some guts to admit youre a gamer in a professional environment because theres a public stigma that gamers are naturally the laziest and least professional people out there. I honestly hate it because I cant walk into an interview to the question “what do you do in your free time?” and answer “gaming” without immediately being deemed unworthy of society’s attention.
Yeah same! when i mention gaming as a leisure activity of mine, i make sure i have mentioned reading firsthand (even though i game more than i read LOL) so like « i like to read books, watch tv with my family, go to the gym, play videogames » and in this way i show that i do alot of things to entertain myself and not just video games.. and mentioning reading first makes people focus on it more.
really hope that since more millennials are playing video games then this stigma will slowly disappear as we move onto the future! like seriously if you can play multiplayer first shooter games, that means you can work under pressure and have experience in team coordination. gaming can offer helpful skills
Honestly, gaming has so many transferrable skills, as you said.Teamwork, communication, leadership, problem solving… It’s such bullshit that it’s considered to be the worst passtime because you’re actively thinking when you play videogames… Watching TV is the passtime of choice for most of the people hiring for jobs and all they do is sit on their asses and passively watch the big bang theory reruns!
ever fall super hard for someone and you’re just wondering what demon has possessed your soul because there is literally nothing at all striking about them
I wonder if anyone has ever written about me
Sir Nicholas Winton is a humanitarian who organized a rescue operation that saved the lives of 669 Jewish Czechoslovakia children from Nazi death camps, and brought them to the safety of Great Britain between the years 1938-1939.
After the war, his efforts remained unknown. But in 1988, Winton’s wife Grete found the scrapbook from 1939 with the complete list of children’s names and photos. Sir Nicholas Winton is sitting in an audience of Jewish Czechoslovakian people who he saved 50 years before.

A group of rough looking boys walked past me today and all I heard of their conversation was “he’s got that anxiety disorder bro so I went with him so he’d be more comfortable” and it made me realise the world isn’t all that bad
#this is team skull
The pet store I worked at had a pen with rabbits near the front door. On every side of the pen were huge signs saying “You can pet me, but don’t pick me up!” One day two absolutely huge guys came in and one immediately reaches into the pen to grab a rabbit. Before i could say anything his friend grabbed his arm and asked him “did you see the sign?” He said “yeah! it says that you can pick them up but don’t pet them!” Then he went quiet for a moment and softly said “I didn’t read it right did I?” And his friend just puts his arm on his shoulder and said “its ok, i know you’ve got that thing where words get mixed up. Let just pet these cute lil shits” And I still haven’t gotten over that interaction.
I was walking my dog through Boston bc he likes the likes car rides. He’s a little thing tbh we call him short and long. So this huge scary man with a full beard approaches me like “hey can my buddy and I pet your dog? He gets nervous around dogs but your’s is so small I think it’s a good place to start.” Ofc I was like “yes he’s very friendly!” So this guy brings his equally big friend over and they sit on the floor while this man looks terrified of my tiny dog so big man number one asks “can I pick him up?” And i say yes so he picks him up and puts him on man number two’s lap and man number two is abt to freak out and his friend straight up just goes “hey man, it’s okay just relax I’d never let anything hurt you. He’s a good boy.” I’ll never forget it ever bc I know that man looked at me (5'3 , glasses, probably wearing a sweater vest) and my dog (kinda goofy looking little thing) and was like ‘ah yes the two least intimidating living things I’ve seen in Boston all day he’ll feel relaxed around them’ and went out of his way to help his friend. It makes me so happy
A good post, pure.
Another adorable story has been added.
