“I wouldn’t say it’s weird. To each their own? But I also assumed a lot of romance novels don’t end that well. Like, not everyone get their happy endings and shit.”

“   Um, just some cookbook stuff? Sawyer and I got into a fight, again, and I kind of wanted to see if I could find some other of mom’s recipes for her. I know it’s weird for all of us to like, dive in there, so if there’s any she doesn’t have   …   that’s where they’d be.   ”   She opens up a rogue drawer, following suit with her uncle.   “   You can come, if you want. Might be nice to have a second pair of eyes. And hands.   ”

“ I have not been there in a while, but I’m sure we’re going to find something. Your mom was a great cook, I do remember seeing some of those recipes a while back. Did you get into a fight over...recipes? ” He finally opens a drawer and find the key they were looking for. “ Here we go ! “ He says in victory, raising the key up in the air to show it to Sienna. “ Great. Should we just go now? ”

“   Do you have the key to the storage unit around here somewhere? I was checking in the attic and between Meghan & Seth’s old baby photos and Christmas decorations and it’s   …    a little overwhelming. Even for someone who goes through boxes of people’s old clothes for a living.   ”

It’s not often that Sienna reaches out to him for something related to her parents, so Ronald is a little surprised when she asks about the storage unit, but he’s happy to help, anything for his kids, and even though Sienna is not technically his child, it feels just like it. “It should be around here somewhere, let me find it.” He moves around the living room and opens a few drawers, looking for the key. “Are you looking for something in particular? Can I help you?” He offers.

of all the faces sawyer expects to see today, lewis’ is not one of them. of no fault of his. when it came to lewis anderson, sawyer’s behaviour hadn’t been something to be proud of. and to this day, still isn’t. because instead of offering apologies for awkward dates and texts ignored, she defaults to her usual sunshine routine.

     “   lewis. hi.   ”   big smile, no indication of past ghosting.   “   how have you been?   ”

in a small town like new haynes, you’re usually bound to run into people you don’t particularly want to run into. it was not that he particularly cares that much at this point, but it’s still not the most pleasant experience. and as she starts up a conversation with him, following her hi with a question, he regrets his initial greeting. “i’ve been alright, same old, same old. what about you?” - at least she remembered his name.
