finrod felagund vs the werewolf
im constantly thinking of in the harrowing curufins little fits about his smithwork now hes in aman, and how supposedly no one has need of weaponry and how he doesnt remember how to make anything else and, ignoring partially how 'weapon' is likely being used here more as shorthand for efficient-person-killing tool, as a (very mediocre) bladesmith and knife enthusiast its so hard to read that as anything but Local Man Forgor Kitchen Knives. even putting aside the fact that a sword is just a long knife and that the mechanics of both are exactly the same with slight differences on whats prioritized, a knife is a knife is a weapon. and somehow you *can* have kitchen knives that are so so poorly balanced that i, at least, had to filter them put of my drawers because any time i picked one up i genuinely cringed it felt so icky. i knoww theres little reason for you to know anything about bladesmithing and that curufins fits are there for character growth and plot reasons. and yet i cant stop thinking about how hes having a fit when he could be making his mother a better set of kitchenware.
I mean, he fully could be making his mother a better set of kitchenware and his brothers some really excellent pocketknives, yep! His skills are transferable! Eventually, when he finishes grieving all the myriad stuff he's grieving, he'll probably figure that out!
But if you've been the guy making stuff that keeps people alive in battle, and you've spent centuries focusing on that and making it an important part of your identity, "just make a kitchen knife" is going to feel a bit like a bit of a letdown, yeah? Because he doesn't value or care about a kitchen knife the way he values and cares about a sword. He probably has a lot of very specific tricks and strategies for making really excellent person-killing tools, a lot of which are probably magic by our standards and thus not very transferable to kitchen knives. And even if they are transferable, they aren't going to save anyone's life in battle. They're just going to make chopping things nicer/safer. (Not a lot nicer/safer, probably. I'm sure Nerdanel knows enough smiths to own very good knives already.)
It's not just about the skill, it's about the lost context. The real problem is not actually that he doesn't remember how to do anything else; it's that he doesn't remember a world where anything else matters to him.
And that really sucks, and is definitely affecting his interpersonal relationships, because mindsets which are fine in a war are not always great in a domestic, non-war setting.
them again :D

You’ve heard of the Roaring 20s........
now get ready for the Screaming 20s - coming to a decade near you in 2020
is it too early or can we start screaming now
in retrospect perhaps we should have started sooner
this post is the equivalent of a newspaper from the day of the outbreak being blown past by the wind after you wake up in a post apocalyptic world

a very self indulgent crossover of my favorite red-coded boys
Feanorian lineups are apparently a rite of passage for silm artists, so I wanted to include Feanor and Nerdanel but they're on honeymoon.
some close-ups because I spent so much time looking at them so you have to as well:
anyway I make caranthir wear an absurd amount of gold because I think he has that Rich Person™ obsession with coating everything in glit to a garish degree.
between lúthien and later arwen elves really seem to get hot and bothered for one type of man and that type is apparently "needs a shower"
I feel like this is Tuor erasure that I will not stand for. He is the golden retriever husband all the girls want. Also, pals with Ulmo, so probably well washed.
That cape on his left shoulder reminds me of that black goo he turned into after Adar's attack.
Finno is pretty upset😔
First time dad Fëanor interpreting infant Maedhros’s inarticulate utterances with great certainty:
Maedhros: nnnng AHHHH g g g
Fëanor, plucking him from his cradle: SO! You want your blanket refolded into a triangle and not a square. Admirable aesthetic judgement. It shall be done.
(With his other arm he refolds it with unnecessary geometric precision)
(Maedhros grabs for Fëanor’s circlet while drooling on his collar)
Fëanor: Ah! An eye for keen workmanship over fine raiment.
Maedhros: bBbbbBb (wriggling and kicking)
Fëanor: you desire to be borne aloft that you may inspect the proportions of the room by every angle!
(He grasps him under the arms and banks around the room a few times like a great eagle)
(Maedhros shrieks in delight)
Fëanor: as I perceived. You and I understand each other, my son.
Been having so many Elwing feels lately...she was so young......
the aftermath of a very difficult conversation
Inspired by chapter 39 of one of my favorite fics ever — The Harrowing by @chthonion (go read it, its really really good!!!)
I wanted to challenge myself by a) drawing a proper background, b) drawing more than one character in one picture and c) drawing something inspired by fanfic for the first time
after nearly giving up a couple of times, this is how it turned out :) what a learning experience
I really, reallyyyyy need friends who read the Silmarillion to ramble with 😭
I look around and there's this super cool community of people on here, but everyone is a super talented artist or a cosplayer or a writer or everything at once and I am just. Standing there.
WHO FUCKING CARES COME TALK TO US WE ARE NOT CELEBRITIES WE ARE LOSERS WHO LIKE ELVES!!!!!!!!
I was thinking for a long time that Finrod could teach his younger sister that mysterious mirrow magic
rip maeglin you would’ve loved being a reddit incel
