littlesue asked: Thank you so much for getting back with me about the Mirio request! Would you mind writing a SFW first date scenario where he takes his female s/o out? You can age him up a couple years or whatever you would like to do. But his female s/o is shy, bashful, and he is the first person she’s been in love with and this is her first date, so she’s unsure of what to say or how to act. She is really smitten by him, but she has trouble expressing her emotions and struggles with facial expressions (she kinda has resting face haha). She’s shy about her smile but finds it difficult to hold back around him because she finds him adorable and hilarious. Despite her appearance, she is very playful and affectionate. I hope that is not too detailed, but if you’re ok with writing this, this is kinda what I was looking for :) Thank you again! ❤️ (Side note: the female s/o also gets really nervous when making eye contact or and is very sensitive to playful/kind teasing). Thanks again!!
A/N: I hope this is what you were looking for!! :) I had so much fun writing this request, thank you so much for the message! This is one of my favorite scenarios I’ve written - I love Mirio so much! If you have anything else you want, let me know - thanks again for the request and your interest in my writing! If anyone else wants to request, my inbox is always open! I have a Shinsou fic coming out tomorrow - the requested pt. 2 to the Sports Festival, and Invisible Mutant pt. 4 should be up in the next few days as well! Request anything and everything! Thanks for reading! :))
You were studying when you heard the knock on your door.
You checked the clock. It was late, already past 9 o’clock, so you couldn’t help the growing unease as you reached the door to your dorm.
But upon opening it, you were simply met with the bright blue eyes of your boyfriend, Mirio. Or, kind-of boyfriend, Mirio.
“M-Mirio?” you stammered, but you could barely get the words out before he was on you, hugging you so tightly you could barely breathe.
You felt yourself short-circuiting, every inch of your body that was touching his on fire.
And then he pulled away, and you still felt like you couldn’t breathe.
“Hi, y/n!” Mirio said, cheerful as ever.
“W-what are you doing here?”
“I came to take you on our date,” he said as nonchalantly as he would tell you what he ate for breakfast. “I did promise you a date, didn’t I?”
Your eyes were still wide, surprised by the boy’s appearance at such a late time. You remembered him asking you so clearly - all you could do was nod your head as one of your close friends confessed in the cafeteria during lunch. But you hadn’t envisioned this, whatever this was.
Seeing the look on your face, Mirio’s smile faded. “You don’t want to go.”
“No!” you said too quickly, reaching your hand out, as if you could stop him before he left. But he hadn’t moved, and now your hand was just hovering awkwardly over his chest. Clearing your throat, you hastily brought the hand back to your side. “No,” you said again, calmer this time. “I was…just surprised. That’s all.”
“Aw, you know I’m just teasing you,” the boy in front of you grinned, laughing cheerily. “I just like seeing you smile.”
Your face felt like it was going to explode, and you covered your mouth to keep him from seeing the smile you could barely contain. The boy was literally sunshine; it was nearly impossible not to smile in his presence. And you hated it, feeling so out of control of your emotions. But you couldn’t help loving the way he made you feel.
“I know it’s late, and I know you’re probably going to bed soon,” Mirio said, his eyes moving to a spot just above your head - looking into your dorm. You took a deep breath, trying not to get too flustered. “But I have something planned, and I think you’re really going to like it.” He locked eyes with you again, the biggest smile on his face, and once again, your face ached from trying to contain a grin of your own.
“C’mon, let’s go, y/n,” Mirio laughed, grabbing your hand.
You let out a little squeak at the sudden contact, letting yourself be pulled along by your kind-of-boyfriend. “But Mirio, my clothes,” you managed to get out before you were too far away.
Mirio stopped then, turning around to look at you. “You look absolutely perfect.”
Before you had a chance to react, your heart beating rapidly in your chest, Mirio was off again, dragging you helplessly behind him.
“Isn’t it almost curfew?” you asked. “Are we allowed to leave this late?”
He smiled again over his shoulder. “We’re not leaving. C’mon, hurry up.” He laughed.
You were positive that, given a little encouragement, he would be trying to pull you through the walls at this point.
You were practically racing through the halls at this point, silent laughter tumbling out of your lips no matter how hard you tried to contain it. As quiet as it was, you saw Mirio turn to flash you an extra-bright grin, and you knew that he had heard it.
And then you were in the stairway, climbing flight after flight of stairs. You couldn’t tell if your racing heart was from the extensive cardio or Mirio’s hand still gripping your own.
But the top flight came sooner than you’d imagined, and Mirio swung open the door to reveal the cool night air. He had taken you to the roof.
Stepping out, you felt the wind blowing around your hair. It was pitch black, but the air was so fresh and the wind was peaceful. You sighed in content, turning to Mirio, who was watching you closely.
“What?” you raised your eyebrows.
“So? How was it?” Mirio tilted his head to the side. “That was it, the whole date. You know it’s really healthy to make exercise a regular habit!”
You rolled your eyes, shoving the boy playfully. He was now laughing so hard he clutched his stomach, pretending to be affected by your light push. You let out an exasperated laugh. If Mirio had been bright before, his face absolutely lit up, enough to blind you, at the sound.
He quickly slung his arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer. “You know I love it when you laugh,” he whispered. Flustered even more, you hid your face from his eyes. “Stop hiding your smiles from me!”
But as whiny as Mirio was, he knew you, and so without pushing you, he took his arm down and led you across the roof. As hard as it was for you when he showed affection, you loved the feeling of his hand enveloping yours. You loved how when you gave it a light squeeze, Mirio squeezed back in response.
There was a little blanket set up right near the edge, facing the side of the building that faced out. Mirio plopped himself on the blanket, pulling you into a spot right next to him.
You turned to him, a questioning look in your eyes. For a moment, Mirio almost looked content just staring into your eyes. But then he reached out to grab your chin, turning your head to face ahead, to face up.
And you saw them immediately. The stars. Stars everywhere.
Even in the city, from this point on the roof of the UA dorms you could see stars as far as the sky stretched. It left you breathless, even more breathless than you had been running up the stairs.
“I don’t know much about the stars.” Mirio chuckled, tilting his head to the side as he looked at them.
“I just think they’re beautiful,” you breathed, enchanted by the lights above you.
Mirio bumped you with his shoulder. “They’re not as beautiful as you.”
And there you were, smiling again, no matter how hard you tried to keep it in. You were grateful for the darkness; in the light he would’ve seen your face go red as a tomato. But for once, you didn’t try to hide your smile. As Mirio looked at you admiringly, you realized you didn’t want to. You were happy sharing this with him.
And his smile, his eyes that were locked on yours, his presence beside you, they were all brighter than any star in the sky. You wanted to open your mouth and tell him, despite how heavy the words felt in your mouth. But looking into his eyes, you once again felt like he knew. Like he understood what you felt around him. Like he felt it too.
“If I went blind tomorrow,” Mirio said, “I wouldn’t even be mad. You wanna know why?” You nodded silently, the intensity in his gaze new, setting your heart into a frenzy. “Cause I got to see that smile.” He poked your cheek, which only succeeded in widening your grin. “That makes it all worth it.”
You leaned into his touch, happier than you had been in a long time. Comfortable, so incredibly comfortable, for the first time ever, with his presence. Your eyes fluttered shut in content.
But then suddenly he was there, his lips brushing your own. Your eyes shot open in shock, but Mirio’s hand moved to your hip, his hand on your face moving to cup your cheek. His lips on yours were soft, and like all of the feelings Mirio controlled whenever he was around you, you gave up your control to the moment, kissing him back as you moved your own hand to the back of his neck. His hair was as soft as his kiss, which was over too soon as Mirio pulled back a few inches to look at you again.
Realization dawned on Mirio in that moment, and his eyes widened as he leapt away from you quickly, pulling his hands away.
“I’m so sorry, y/n,” he stuttered, flustered for the first time that night. “I should’ve asked. I apologize for startling you like that.” He looked up, his blue eyes full of guilt.
All you could do was smile.
