It has been revealed that one of the ships got it onto the top 100 ships on AO3 by someone utilizing ai generated fics to spam the tag.
It's honestly disheartening that people (usually my age) view AO3 as a fucking social media app rather than an archive where hundreds if not thousands of user dedicate their writing to something they genuinely love.
Polluting the website with ai generated fanfics that no one will read nor was written by anyone is truly a new low and for what??? A ship??? Are we DEADASS??? You only care about the fuckass numbers that shouldn't mean THAT much to you, it's honestly pathetic and sad.
Seriously I get you for loving a ship so much but are we really going to dickride the living shit out of a phony ass bot to make u a gazillion amount of fanfics just for some ranking. It's actually frying me omfg what the fuck.

Wilson who cant wake up for the life of him. Every time he sleeps, he literally will not wake up unless he is physically shook. Like a LOG. Despite his sensitivity to sound, he quite literally stays up until he cant keep his eyes open. This cycle continues until when he decides to sleep, his body continues because he literally trained his brain to ignore everything just to get a good night’s sleep. But he definitely used to be a sensitive sleeper until he was kicked onto his own.

- WILSON IS AUTISTIC !
I headcanon that the start of the single player version of don’t starve (wilson’s character animation specifically) to take place around 1921! Unfortunately in this time frame, autism was not something diagnosable as its own condition. Autism actually started being used by a man named Eugen Bleuler in the early 1900s as a way to describe a symptom of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia at the time was used as a much much broader term than it is today, and many autistic or otherwise just plain mentally ill children — and adults — were thought to be schizophrenic. Though, (almost) all doctors have agreed we knew next to nothing about mental diagnoses’ compared to now, and though we could’ve done more we know more about these things now.
And with Wilson being “schizophrenic” (autistic), I feel he was and is very sound sensitive. I believe him being sent to his house was an act of “mercy” at the time. The sad truth is that most mentally ill people were simply thrown into institutions then. The idea a distant relative who perhaps even barely knew wilson pushed for him NOT to be institutionalized, to be sent by himself to keep to his own devices just outside of the town makes me like hruiwpckhqyfuwp.. He was sent just far enough away to where the general public would be unaware of his existence unless he needed to travel to town for basics. But — also on that note — i feel a lot of the town LOVES Wilson. He’s a gentle soul, as long as it isn’t loud and he doesn’t get too overwhelmed (which is quite easy to avoid if going extremely early or late) then he’s fine.
I suggest more people do research into the true history of autism as it has quite a dotted past! The next sections will be written with less information as this was not a topic i wanted brought up without some historical and scientific significance/importance! (Definitely willing to expand in more detail if requested!)
- WILSON HAS SEVERE BEDHEAD , HE ALSO HAS EXPERIENCED MATTED HAIR AT LEAST ONCE.
Definitely don’t think this one is a surprise.. with all of Wilson’s science experiments i have a feeling he had to make his own hair products as a result of how often his hair gets matted after longer experiments. Wilson throws himself into experiments. Hair can mat VERY fast for some people. Wilson falls under the category of not VERY matted—but it definitely became an issue over time. With that, matted doesn’t automatically mean dirty! Wilson’s hair is 3a and he definitely has no mousse or proper curly hair products which would account for his messy and constantly tangled hair. He would obviously brush it straight to try and fix it but without proper products nothing holds.
I think after a while of having matted hair he focused at least for a while on making a concoction that at least helped his knots untangle. Aloe vera, apple cider vinegar, you name it! If it was available, he tried it. In the end, he worked up a science-y mix ratio that has a healthy amount of coconut oil in it. Who knew something so good for cooking could help his unruly hair?
- WILSON IS AROACE
Obviously, he doesn’t know what being “aroace” is but it definitely..feels right? Back in the day, having families and getting a son to pass down wealth to was EXTREMELY important especially to the UK at the time.. Wilson was almost arranged to be married off by his family, before the incident… and the constant..
well, after that he decided he was unfit to have kids, even though the idea of taking care of children was nice. Relationships and marriage are far too complex for a scientist that never has enough time..and his lab is no place for a child to grow up! Even though his family sucked, and it was quite normalized..he wasn’t a monster!

being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?
