ďżź I am using a similar theme from a TV show on Hallmark Channel called The Way Home, but sad thing is it has recently been canceled so if this storyline seems familiar, I give all credit to the producer writer of that show when it comes to a small part of my story.
ARTHUR MORGAN/ OC MISSY DAVIS A TIME TRAVEL STORY. FROM 1999 TO 1899.
PART ONE
Missy Davis, a curious young woman in her early twenties, 22 that is. Found herself wandering around a small pond named Moonstone Pond. Little did she know, this pond held a magical secretâit had the power to transport people back in time or even forward. In the year 1999, Missy was filled with apprehension about the new century that was about to begin. Despite knowing it was only January, she couldnât shake the feeling that time was passing by too quickly with each passing year. A vision of the future had once crossed her mind, and she wished she hadnât seen itâa vision filled with grief, evil, and despair. Sitting by the pond, Missy watched the sunlight dance on the waterâs surface, lost in her own thoughts. She couldnât help but wonder what life had been like here, many years ago. But the mystery of the pond remained unsolved; all she could see were fish, many of them. It was a pleasant day, not cold or snowy. Driven by curiosity, Missy decided to take a swim in the pond. As she jumped in, her tank top and shorts flapping in the water, she felt a sudden tug on her legs. Before she could react, she was pulled underwater, struggling to return to the surface. In mere minutes, she had been transported to a different time. When she finally broke the surface, Missy found herself in an unfamiliar surroundings. The pond was the same, but something was different. A broken old cabin stood in the distance, its roof caved in, and a fallen tree destroyed the roof. A sense of unease washed over her, and she couldnât shake the feeling that she had been taken away from her own time for a reason. Missy had always been fascinated by stories of time travel, and her favorite movie was Back to the Future. But she had never imagined that she would actually experience it. Instead of a DeLorean Time Machine, she had been transported in this secluded pond, out in the middle of nowhere with the ponds help. As she stood there, unsure of what to do, Missy couldnât help but wonder if she should try to return to her own time or if the pond would take her back. But deep down, she knew that she had been chosen for a reason. And as she gazed at the mysterious pond, she couldnât help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for the adventures that awaited her. She was curious about the year or even the century she was in. Curiosity got the better of her, and she decided to walk up to the abandoned cabin. It seemed as if the door was somehow blocked, possibly due to the damage caused by the tree. Gathering her courage, Missy climbed the tree and made her way inside, using the roof as a makeshift ladder since the tree had created a significant hole in it. Standing in what was left of the old cabin, she was struck by pure curiosity and luck when she found womenâs clothing. She decided to change into the dress she found, leaving her wet tank top and shorts in the broken-down cabin. The only thing she was missing was shoes or boots. As she examined the dress, she couldnât help but feel like she might have been transported to the 19th century. The dress looked and fit her perfectly. She sighed, thinking to herself how fortunate she was to find this dress, which was her size. It was as if someone had left it there for her to discover, or perhaps it was just sheer luck. Inside the cabin, she noticed a ladder, which she assumed was there for the loft that the cabin once had. Climbing to the top, she tried her best to make her way back towards the fallen tree and climb down. However, she was not happy about being barefoot and getting cold. In her state of disorientation, Missy was not thinking clearly. All she cared about was finding out what year it was and figuring out how she would get back to her own time.
As she got down somewhat safely from the old broken down cabin, she decided to start walking she kinda remembered the path she took to get to this pond back in her time. She noticed the day was getting late, and had no watch or a cellphone with her that was left back with her other clothes in 1999. She kept walking wondering if she would run into someone or something. It was starting to look familiar her surroundings but nothing but dirt roads and complete silence just birds and animals doing their thing. She eventually stumbled upon a man riding his horse, but he didnât seem interested in helping her he looked unsure of her and how she looked and kept riding forward past her. She remembered a town not too far away named Valentine and old western town and crazy thing is in her time it was a historical place for her century to visit because it was one of the few towns left in its condition back in her time at least. But if her feelings are correct and she is in the past, then she should recognize Valentine and may find help or old newspaper to help her understand what time she was in.
As she kept walking another man older looking, riding a beautiful dark gray horse rode upon her. But this man, he stopped and looked at her with a peculiar expression. Miss, are you lost? Missy looks at him not quite sure how to approach the situation she was in or answer his question. But her honest answer was yes. Iâm not from around here and you can say Iâm technically lost. She was trying to hold back her tears and feelings of uncertainty and anxiety of not being able to know the time or year, or heck just scared of what was happening and what was next for her. Well, Iâm Hosea Matthewâs, and you have a name Miss? She was not sure if she should say or trust him. But she was also not sure she had any choice but to try and make the best decision to trust him. If he wanted to hurt her, he would have done so by now. Iâm, Missy Davis and I am from Denver Colorado. Well, Miss Davis youâre a long ways from Colorado and I donât think you will make it back home by walking. If you donât mind me asking Miss Davis how did you get out here anyways? Missy, wasnât sure how to answer she wasnât one to lie but also didnât think he would believe her if she told him the truth either. Missy was left with no choice but tell him a white lie. I was with my, my family up near Annesburgs, but I got separated from them because of those Murfree Brood Gang ambushing our stagecoach , she sighs wondering how she remembered the stories of that gang, thinking itâs possible my folks are dead. I feel it deep she said in my soul. Missy wasnât to sad because her mother and father werenât the nicest people. She almost felt like her story was true. Because back where and when she was from that story was true. She quietly thought this to herself. Well, I guess if you can trust me I will take you along with me Miss Davis. I ainât but and old con man that hasnât ever harmed a woman ever, so hopefully you can trust me when I say I mean no harm and I would like to help you. But I warn you Miss, I am a wanted outlaw and I just thought you should know that. âMy gangâs leader is a somewhat good man âDutch Vanâder Lindeâ of the Vanâder Linde Gang. You may have heard of us or not. Missy is a bit stunned with the information Mr. Matthewâs has given her but she decides to take him at his word, and take him up on his offer of help. As they rode back to his gang, Missy was very uncertain if she should ask the one question that has been on her mind since she got to this place. It was starting to look familiar, and she noticed the town that she remembered in the distance there it was the town of Valentine. It looked different in this time. She knew deep down, she was definitely in the 19th century she finally got up the courage to ask that one question stuck in her mind . Look Mr. Matthews, this is gonna sound crazy and youâre probably wondering why Iâm asking such a strange question but, what year is it? I think I may have gotten a little bit of memory loss from the attack earlier today. Missy was still trying to keep a good story going as she couldnât actually tell him where she was really from as again it would have been a very hard to believe story. Hosea thinks to himself before answering, he was curious why she asked this question but then he figured well maybe she was right maybe she was a bit distraught from her previous engagement with that nasty gang. Hosea finally spoke up, itâs January 30th 1899 Miss. Ok, sorry for asking my mind is a bit hazy and Iâm just not with it right now I guess. That was technically the truth, and she kept to it.
