Jonthia is a series of stories that initially started as an AU but have developed to be much more between me and @melodymidway asking the question of how things would change if Jonathan Midway and Cynthia Hearst got together. This started on amino and has developed over the years but now we are planning on moving it over to tumblr. While this story initially started focusing on Hogwarts Mystery characters, stories range from the Hogwarts Legacy and Magic Awakened generations
This will take some time with different posts needing edits due to recent changes. However everything that is listed here and does not have a link is either on the Hogwarts Mystery amino still or is in either mine or Melody’s drafts.

A little while ago, my friend @helenadurazzo created some very beautiful moodboards for two wholesome OC x OC ships I developed with @melodymidway. They feature my Hogwarts Legacy era OCs, brothers Danny and Isaac Gibson. Danny is shipped with Esther Hitchens, and Isaac is together with Hyacinth Ellington, both of whom are by Melody.
I adore both of these couples very much and enjoy working with the stories for how they each came about. Helena's moodboards illustrate the origins and dynamics of the respective ships very accurately and I love the imagery, messaging and faceclaims used! Here I decided to not just showcase the aesthetics but also talk about the ships themselves a bit as there is a lot of great, deep lore behind them that me, Helena and Melody have discussed. To that end, this post mentions Danny and Esther's friends Georgiana Wotton (also written by Melody,) and Julius and Gladys Hearst (created by Helena.) I hope you all enjoy!
Danny Gibson x Esther Hitchens
Originally from Beauxbatons, Esther befriended Danny soon after she arrived at Hogwarts. Over time, they deepened their bond opening up to each other about their harsh experiences dealing with trauma caused by blood purists in their family. They had fathers who died because of the activities of such groups in different circumstances. Esther's father was a muggle who was jumped, brutalized and murdered by blood purists. Danny's father was an abusive man and traitorous Unspeakable who died in his derangement trying to carry out the evil plans of the hateful group that recruited him. Danny was also autistic and had post-traumatic stress from his experiences. Considered an outcast because of his neurodivergence and family situation, he understood Esther's disdain for outside social pressures that try to push people into making life decisions conforming with traditional expectations.
They fell in love at some point after her previous relationship with Ominis Gaunt had to be ended due to threats of reprisals from supremacists. Ominis had been considered by them to be undeserving of someone unfit to carry the name of the House of Black. Danny was demi, and his deepening emotional connection to her helped allow their bond to develop into romance and support their friends who were also queer in some way. This included Gladys Hearst who was bi and eventually ended up getting together with Georgiana Wotton, and Julius Hearst, who was gay and later fell in love with Leander Prewett.
Danny joined a class she and Julius helped to form to study alchemy, in which they encouraged him to pursue following his great achievements in potions. He and Esther greatly enjoyed each other's company and spent time when they could. They found opportunities in different places, like in class, at the library and on the grounds. A great ear for music was also shared by them, Danny loved to play the trumpet but was also skilled in violin and piano somewhat. Essie had a beautiful voice ideal for singing that he adored, which influenced her to become the Frog Choir conductor when she taught at Hogwarts School.
In adulthood, Danny settles down with Esther in Hogsmeade and becomes the DADA professor at Hogwarts alongside her as members of the faculty, she is an Alchemy instructor and they continue to cherish their bond and the time they have together.
Isaac Gibson x Hyacinth Ellington
Isaac and Hyacinth first met each other when they were very young. Entrusted to a family known to his and Danny's mother when they had to flee to England for their safety, he spent six years growing up on a farm in New Hampshire, Rue was able to support Danny as he could fend for himself but Isaac, still young and too vulnerable, had to stay somewhere stateside where they knew he'd be okay. He encountered Hyacinth on the farm when her family was visiting the USA, and they first bonded within the beautiful, relaxing and easeful atmosphere of the countryside.
Hyacinth loved the farm and had to leave eventually, but they agreed to write to each other as penpals. They later even got to attend Hogwarts together as Ravenclaws after changing circumstances made it necessary that Isaac reunite with his family across the pond. Friendship grew to romance when Isaac and Hyacinth became of age, the seer finding love, care and acceptance in someone she knew for a long time.
Following Hogwarts, Isaac works as a diplomat for the Department of Magical Cooperation with Hyacinth becoming an Unspeakable that oversees the Hall of Prophecies; the complicated nature of foreign affairs has both departments enjoying a close working relationship to help carry out such important work.
Both of these aesthetics were made in good timing as Danny and Isaac are receiving new lore I'm writing, which I'll feature in a revamped profile for Danny that will be out soon. Hopefully sometime next week if all goes well!
Alma Sharp is the daughter of Esteban Sharp and his Muggle lover. While her mother was pregnant with her, she found out about the existence of magic and took the news very negatively. Thus, Esteban had to obliviate her immediately after Alma's birth and raise the girl on his own.
Born on December 13th, 1974, she is a Ravenclaw like her father, whom she adores and looks up to.
Alma has a keen and strategic mind, which she uses while playing her favourite game, chess, as well as Quidditch in the position of Chaser. She's also very headstrong and competitive, beating her opponents smartly. Many consider her irritating due to her snarky attitude.
Alma participates in many chess tournaments and eventually decides to design chess boards and pieces for a living. Her passion is what put her together with her husband, Murphy McNully. Together, they have two children, Castiel and Caissa McNully.
Cascadia Osborn is the daughter of Irvin Osborn and Marissa Sharp, as well as the younger sister of Aegeus and Beckett Osborn.
Born on January 29th, 1972, she is the only Ravenclaw in her Slytherin family and a Prefect.
While Cascadia is responsible and serious, she is also dreamy and creative. As a child, she spent a lot of time with her great-grandmother, Esther Hitchens, from whom she inherited her passion for Alchemy. Wanting to live up to her scientific legacy, Cascadia studies at Beauxbatons as an apprentice and later continues her education in the Centre for Alchemical Studies in Egypt.
While at Beauxbatons, Cascadia falls in love with a fellow student named François Lavigne. Their brief romance results in Cascadia's pregnancy. However, her grandfather, the head of the Osborn family, is against the union, and François himself doesn't want the responsibility. While she feels guilty, Cascadia understands that it isn't the right time to raise a child, and so she gives the newborn Atlanta Osborn away to her brother Beckett and his wife, who can't have biological children.
Later, during her years of working in Egypt, she meets Kauri Trangmar, a student of Alchemy from New Zealand. They fall in love and get married, eventually having a son, Pacific Trangmar.
The fallout of her relationship with Ominis Gaunt makes Esther Hitchens's life even more complicated than usual. She receives unexpected encouragement and no less unexpected censure.

February 1898
As the last minutes of the lesson were slipping away, Esther absentmindedly recounted the many Alchemic symbols, all written down with care and precision on her parchment. Triangles depicting the four elements, all sorts of figures for planets and substances... Her favourite one had always been an eight-pointed star, meaning creation. It was ironic, she supposed, given her unfortunate connection to the astronomically named Blacks.
Her mood soured even further upon the mere recollection. In most cases, the subject Esther was so passionate about improved her spirits effortlessly, but the end of her and Ominis's relationship weighted heavily upon her, as did the humiliation that followed. It didn't help that right after the class, she would be expected to serve the most bothersome detentions the Headmaster could come up with.
Professor Sharp finished explaining their homework, and Esther opened her mouth automatically, biding him farewell alongside the others. Normally, he would give her additional reading to do, or a practical task to complete - Esther was ahead of the curriculum, having studied Alchemy at Beauxbatons before, - but this time, he began assembling his books wordlessly.
With a tinge of embarrassment, she remembered that he had witnessed her beration at hands of the Headmaster yesterday, and was thus aware of her punishment. He probably assumed she had no time for extra work now.
Damn Cantankerus Nott, laughing at the ruin of her first love! And Esther couldn't even stand up for herself without being reminded of her own unworthiness by her dearest uncle.
As she was packing her supplies, she felt a hand squeeze her shoulder. Julius, her unchanging neighbour and partner during Alchemy classes, was looking at her with worry. Her usual mask must have cracked, mirroring her troubled thoughts.
"Let's meet in the Room of Requirement after your detention," he said quietly. "I believe you could use some distraction."
"Wow, are you two planning a date? I knew something was going on between you," he drawled slyly. Esther's eyes widened, realising how their conversation sounded from an outsider's perspective. Not that it justified Garreth's blurting out the contents of a private conversation, complete with his own ridiculous assumptions.
Even from a distance, Esther could see the way Sebastian clenched his jaw angrily.
"Not everything is a joke, Garreth," she retorted, immediately wincing: Ominis often used this precise wording. "Besides, yours is in very bad taste."
"The class had ended some minutes ago," Professor Sharp interrupted gruffly, installing a cauldron on his now vacant table, "and I prefer brewing in peace."
"But we're the most peaceful of students!" Garreth exclaimed, always willing to try the Potions professor's patience. Still, the glance he sent Esther over Julius's shoulder seemed almost apologetic. The glare he himself received from Professor Sharp was anything but.
As Julius and Garreth left, she and Sebastian were the only students yet lingering in the classroom. Esther looked at the professor with hesitation.
"I would like to thank you, sir," she said in a low voice, not wanting Sebastian to overhear. "I appreciate your offer to oversee my detentions."
Given that she could have helped him make potions instead of scrubbing abandoned dusty roomes nobody needed, he truly meant well.
Professor Sharp continued paying his undivided attention to the collection of knives, meant to slice a wide range of ingredients, but Esther noted the way his brows furrowed.
"From what I gathered, you had done nothing to deserve them to begin with."
"From the Headmaster's point of view, talking back to a Pureblood is offensive enough," Esther commented and instantly reproached her own thoughtlessness. She had heard that the Sharp family, while not ancient or noble, was still Pureblood. "Excuse me. It looks like I'm not much better than Garreth in filtering what I say."
Professor Sharp surprised her. "The Headmaster Black refuses to admit that blood doesn't equal greatness, and the loss is entirely his. You have the potential to be great, Miss Hitchens. Don't let the others trample on it."
Esther could only bow her head in a gesture of sincere respect, committing his words to memory. It was probably what had warranted her sorting into Slytherin, this constant desire for recognition burning in her chest. And while the idea of a future with Ominis was shattered alongside her heart, she couldn't let the pieces pierce her lungs.
Professor Sharp went to his closet, likely to retrieve the necessary ingredients. Esther threw one of the straps of her bag over her shoulder, heading for the exit. Yet, the sound of Sebastian's voice made her halt.
"How is life, Esther? I believed you would be more upset, having broken a bond so strong. But you're the one to recover swiftly, aren't you?" His tone held none of his usual cheerfulness. "Looking for someone less demanding to settle on? Sorry to disappoint, but the Hearsts don't like Half-Bloods much, either."
"Do you know, Sebastian," Esther started, her own voice deceptively composed, "that, when you have an urge to offer an opinion on something you have no knowledge of, it's much better to keep your mouth firmly shut?"
His dark eyes flashed with something akin to rage. "How dare you! Ominis is my closest friend. I can see how much he suffers, all because of you!"
Esther digged her nails into the skin of her palms. "And has it ever entered your head that I might suffer, too?"
Sebastian snorted, a malicious sound that broke something inside her. The friendships she so delighted in seemed to be crumbling like a sandcastle under the relentless waves.
"If you had truly loved him, you would have found a solution," he said sharply. "You would have run away together, if needed. Instead, you abandoned him the moment your relationship became problematic."
"What a romantic outlook on the world! Tell me, Sebastian, would our love also protect us from the wrath of the Gaunts? Would it shield my family? My father is dead," it took her much effort not to waver, "brutally murdered in the prime of his life by the rabid dogs that Ominis has the misfortune to call family. Tortured for happening to be a Muggle in a wrong place and at a wrong time. What would stop them from hunting my mother? My brother or sister? And now, their choice would be deliberate. They would seek to punish me, a dirty Half-Blood, for daring to love a descendant of Slytherin." Esther looked him straight in the eyes, willing her resolve not to leave her. "I know how deeply you love Anne, so don't stand in front of me, pretending that you would have sacrificed her for a love story."
Her vehemence seemed to put Sebastian off guard. Good. Getting off his high horse was exactly what he needed.
"I would sooner perish myself than stand over their graves, believing myself to be the cause," Esther hissed, hating the sudden wetness of her eyes. And she thought she had already cried all her tears out. "So don't pretend to understand my situation. You have no clue what I went through, and you have absolutely no right to judge me."
"What is going on here? I believe I was clear when I asked everyone to leave the classroom."
Esther flinched, caught unawares by Professor Sharp's return. Sebastian, too, looked startled.
She hoped the professor hadn't heard the contents of their argument, though that seemed unlikely, as they raised their voices considerably.
Regardless, Esther kept her head high and swallowed the knot in her throat. "I apologise, sir. Mr. Sallow and I shall depart now."
Calling Sebastian by his surname was a deliberate move. If he allowed himself to talk to her in this manner, she could establish her own borders, putting him at arm's length.
While his loyalty to Ominis was commendable, she didn't need friends who would demean her so readily.
She had the potential to be great, and she wouldn't let the others trample on it.
I was supposed to have a relaxing day off, but r*ssians had other plans. This morning was horrible. I haven't been so scared for my life in a long time, though such attacks are by no means a rarity.
It's my town. I can see this house from one of my windows. There's a café there that I occasionally visit.
One person died there. Some are injured.
There's much more damage than that inflicted on my home region. Apparently, a drone hit a vet clinic, killing multiple animals.
I'm pretty sure I repeated this about a thousand times, but I so wish every single r*ssian to have it a million times worse. I wish them to tremble in fear every single day. I wish them to watch everything they love burn. They're all responsible, and fuck anyone who would try to convince me otherwise.
First, they tried to exterminate Ukrainians in 1930s by famine. And even thought millions have died, Ukraine survived. Then they tried to subjugate Ukraine by military force. Ukraine didn’t fall.
Now, they are trying to commit genocide against Ukrainian people by freezing them to death.
The photo shows Kharkiv’s energy plant, destroyed by russian missile. Ask a result, people have to electricity, no heat, no water.
If are still trying to stay “out of politics” to justify russia’s genocide then you are just as guilty as the russians who commit these atrocities. History will not be kind to you.
Vladyslav Heraskevych, a 27-year-old Ukrainian skeleton racer, has appeared at the 2026 Olympics wearing a helmet featuring Ukrainian athletes who were killed as a result of the russian invasion. The athlete said that some of those featured had been his friends.
Source: Champion, a sports news platform within Ukrainska Pravda's holding
A third Ukrainian athlete has been banned from competing in his helmet — this time, short track speed skater Oleh Handey.
“I have a quote by Lina Kostenko written on my helmet: ‘Where there is heroism, there is no final defeat.’ They banned it. They said it was a political slogan, that it was about war, that it wasn’t allowed. I translated it for them word for word — no, it’s a political slogan. These are simply motivational words for me, for my team, and for my country. Why not? ‘Not allowed, it’s political, it’s propaganda.’”
I’ll say something that might sound controversial, but this whole situation with the 2026 Olympics increasingly reminds me of how Ukrainians were treated during the Soviet Union, when any Ukrainian position was banned and there were always “reasons” given: it discriminates against others, it violates equality, it makes Russians uncomfortable — meaning, ahem, it’s chauvinism, it’s an expression of aggressive Ukrainian nationalism, and so on.
“Oleh’s story repeats the experience of Ukrainian freestyle skier Kateryna Kotsar, whose helmet was banned because of the inscription ‘Be brave like Ukrainian.’”
And while on one side there is pressure from the International Olympic Committee, on the other side additional organizations get involved — institutions where, much like in key Soviet structures, Ukrainians simply are not represented. Yet it isn’t difficult to understand who is represented there, and with what views toward us — and this time it is the International Skating Union (ISU).
“My career right now is okay, but the future… ISU doesn’t really favor us, in my opinion. Because we have no representatives in ISU. I don’t like that we don’t have anyone there at all. So we don’t have support, and they can do whatever they want with us. And I was made to understand that it would be better not to do this for the sake of my future career. No, this wasn’t the IOC — it was specifically the ISU who banned it.”
Ukrainian athletes are currently being treated like dissidents within a hostile system, where any position is seen as a protest. And so we see a similar dissident behavior from Ukrainians like quickly pinned notes with words written on their palms.
So I’m just waiting for the infamous words to be said:
“A Ukrainian has been condemned for Ukrainian bourgeois nationalism.”
i don't think people realise how bad things are in Ukraine right now
no heating, no electricity, no running water, subzero temperatures outside for weeks, pipes breaking in half, generators breaking, oh and you have to go to work every day still
im not at home and haven't experienced half of this, but i want this post to be a place for my people to share in the comments or reblogs or even anon asks and speak about the most difficult day for you in Ukraine this year (yeah January isn't even over yet)
It's one of the coldest winters in Ukraine that I remember, and there are likely NO power plants that weren't hit by ruzzian drones and missiles recently. As the frosts worsen, the attacks intensify. Electricity is only present several hours a day at most, alongside water and heating. Some places are left without it all for days and even weeks.
We don't have central heating at work, which made not freezing over quite a fit. Fortunately, we managed to get a powerful heater, so it's better now. From what I hear from my students and acquaintances, many workplaces and educational institutions are in even worse condition.
Sometimes it's raining, and the rain immediately freezes while falling on the ground, turning roads into skating rinks. Just getting to work often feels like a challenge, and not breaking any bones an achievement.
You ask me "why hate russians so much 🥺 they're just a people" and I'm just a teacher who needs to constantly help my children get to shelter in short amount of time, who needs to explain why do explosions happen, who can't even get to the job because our school is working online because school canalisation doesn't work during power outages that happen solely because russians destroyed our power plants, who is nervous and anxious because of attacks. Children should have their happy childhood without thoughts about attacks. We can't just ignore our reality and we can't disable war by simply putting tags russia is a terrorist state into ignored. I never chose the war. russians did chose it back in 2014 when they occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions and Crimea. They chose war back in 2008 when they occupied Georgia. They chose to start war against Syria, Chechnya. russians continue to choose war because they have nothing else and don't care about their own citizens. Imagine to spend shithole of money just for bombing neighbours in the night because they happen to be sovereign independent country.
As a teacher myself, I second this. I work with people from cities that are under occupation or don't exist anymore. I teach a girl whose father was killed on the battlefield. Just a few days ago, my students told me about how an explosion blew off the windows in their grandmother's house.
But I'm supposed to believe there are nice ruzzians around? Nah, guys. I loathe every single ruzzian on this planet. I'm never going to forgive them for the horror and trauma they brought to my people and me personally.
“Were I to fall in love, indeed, it would be a different thing; but I have never been in love ; it is not my way, or my nature; and I do not think I ever shall.” ― Jane Austen, Emma

In order to understand all the absurdity that is currently happening around the exchange of Ukrainian territories for Ukrainian territories, imagine that you live in your parents' apartment, where your grandparents lived. Where you were born and spent your childhood. Of course, you have all the documents for the apartment and it is registered for you according to all the rules according to the law.
And suddenly your neighbor rings the doorbell to ask for salt and knocks you out with a baseball bat. When you, covered in blood, come to your senses, you see him drinking in your kitchen with his cronies.
You try to throw him out of your apartment, but he barricaded himself behind the door and does not plan to return your kitchen.
And here the most interesting thing begins. The neighbors on the entrance, all these nice people. Uncle Sasha, who gave you sweets when you were little, Aunt Olya with her cats, Dimka, with whom you climbed the neighboring gardens and went to the girls - all these nice people lowered their eyes and told you: Seryozha, we are for you, you know! But you understand that he is stronger? Well, give in to him! Because it has become impossible to live in the house! From morning to night your scandals, we do not get enough sleep, the children are afraid.
You are a little annoyed by such situations, but people are stupid, what can you make of them. You call the police.
The policeman arrives after 15 minutes and you are surprised to see that he passes by you and goes to hug your neighbor-hooligan. They close in your kitchen and talk about something nice.
Then the policeman comes out and says that everything is fine, he has agreed on everything. You rent the kitchen to your neighbor, and he lets you use your toilet.
You think it's some kind of joke and try to explain to the policeman that you don't need your neighbor's permission to use his toilet. Because the toilet is yours anyway by right of ownership, which you have for the entire apartment.
The policeman looks at you like an idiot and starts to get annoyed. He tells you that ownership of the apartment is, of course, good, but you have to take into account REALITIES! And they are the following - a Korean, a friend of your neighbor, is sitting in the toilet. You don't control your toilet and you should be grateful to the policeman that you will give your neighbor only the kitchen, and the two rooms will remain yours! And you will even go to the toilet if you are polite.
Does it sound absurd?
Yes, it does sound absurd. Because this is absurd. An absolutely idiotic situation that would be impossible in the real world.
But, stop!!! We live in the real world and right now, in the real world, the US president is negotiating behind our backs with the war criminal Putin how much of our land and our people to give to Putin for his PROMISE to leave us alone.
A promise he already made when he signed the Minsk agreements. And even earlier, he made it when he signed the Great Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on May 31, 1997.
And even earlier, he promised to be the GUARANTOR of Ukraine's SECURITY according to the Budapest Memorandum of December 5, 1994.
That is, in this real world where we live, absurdity is not just possible, it is happening before our eyes. With us in the lead role.
Personally, I am not satisfied with such nonsense. That is why I am in the army. And when they ask me why I joined the army with all my diagnoses, this is why.
All these nice people who hand us over to putin so he doesn't take care of them don't understand that nothing can be decided for us as long as we exist. And we exist and will live on our land no matter what.
